Summary

“i closed my eyes to look inward and found a universe waiting to be explored”

From poet, meditator, and speaker Yung Pueblo, comes a collection of poetry and prose that explores the movement from self-love to unconditional love, the power of letting go, and the wisdom that comes when we truly try to know ourselves。 It serves as a reminder to the reader that healing, transformation, and freedom are possible。

Filled with so many "wow" moments。 Truly loved and is definitely one sitting on my end table to pick up and just read every now and again。 Filled with so many "wow" moments。 Truly loved and is definitely one sitting on my end table to pick up and just read every now and again。 。。。more

A good healing theme throughout。 Poetry was amazing and I will keep going back to its pages for years to remind myself of the power of love。

Pretty repetitive。 I might have benefited from this book when I was first learning to love myself, so this book is what I already know into words, which is still valuable。 I did save some pages that resonated with me。 I think a lot of people would benefit from this book if they are having trouble loving themselves and feel trapped within themselves。 I also couldn’t relate to the way the author spoke about freedom at all, I just don’t get it。 I see myself recommending this book to people who are Pretty repetitive。 I might have benefited from this book when I was first learning to love myself, so this book is what I already know into words, which is still valuable。 I did save some pages that resonated with me。 I think a lot of people would benefit from this book if they are having trouble loving themselves and feel trapped within themselves。 I also couldn’t relate to the way the author spoke about freedom at all, I just don’t get it。 I see myself recommending this book to people who are struggling, it’s not my taste when it comes to books but I don’t regret reading it。 Who knows maybe one day I will need it again。 The cover is pretty。 。。。more

I slowly read this collection of poems and ideas over a really long time (6 months or so) and each time I picked it up, it was incredibly powerful。 I feel like I could read these thoughts an infinite number of times, and still be inspired, reminded, and grow。

Karina

Absolutely excellent。 You can’t put it down once you start。 It ultimately has inspired me to pen my own words。

Tineke Dijkstra

So many insights! This collection gave me much and I’ll come back to it frequently

3。5 starsI enjoyed this book very much and I related to a lot of the words in it。 But, my problem was the lengthy pages he puts sometimes, I felt like it was being pushed on the reader to believe in love, and self love。 I wanted a bit of a kinder approach to the reader, a simpler poems, because it felt at some point that it’s not a book of poems, and it was more like a self development book。 I think he should write one and separate his poems from these big ideas he got for the world。

I am underwhelmed。 It was just okay。

This collection of poetry was a gift from my dear friend Henry, they had been presented with two copies the same week and mailed me one。 I feel so spoiled to get books in the mail but this is my first book of poetry by this author and i am profoundly changed by his words。 This book is going to be one that I'll return to because each page feels like an oracle reading。 It really helps during times of hard to feel and process emotions。 I would highly recommend it to absolutely everyone。 This collection of poetry was a gift from my dear friend Henry, they had been presented with two copies the same week and mailed me one。 I feel so spoiled to get books in the mail but this is my first book of poetry by this author and i am profoundly changed by his words。 This book is going to be one that I'll return to because each page feels like an oracle reading。 It really helps during times of hard to feel and process emotions。 I would highly recommend it to absolutely everyone。 。。。more

This is a beautiful collection of thoughtful, mindful and truly inspirational poetry。

I found this poetry to be lacking。 I can’t exact touch on what I felt it was lacking, but it seemed almost too “public。” There wasn’t as much emotional depth included within the words— just something basic I can find on Instagram and tumblr (also with extreme repetition that maybe wasn’t used as a strength)。 It isn’t my favorite poetic form, and I feel like once I read one book similar to this form I have read them all。

I picked this book up at the right moment in my life, a time of healing and self-love。 I look forward to reading it again in, say, ten years, and seeing which parts speak more to me and which less (I have my guesses)。

There were a few poems in this book that really spoke to me, but overall I did not enjoy it。 This partly is because it’s quite repetitive。

An enlightened compilation of thoughts and encouragements brimming with compassion, intellect and positivity。 Found it to be a highly enjoyable read, leaving me inspired and renewed。 Highly recommend to poetry fans and all those interested in meditation。

Got this book when I travelled to San Francisco last December。 It’s truly life changing and Yung Pueblo’s poetry speaks to me as a healer and on a spiritual level。 💜✨🌼🙏

Inward is where I am most of these days, and I am fortunate to have found a author of what my heart and souls feels。

Michaela

There are some beautiful and thoughtful words throughout the book, though I don’t know that I agree with all his philosophies。 Some themes and words are repetitive。 While the consistency certainly brings home the key messages, I think expanding on theories and beliefs could have been more insightful。

There were some nice thoughts in this book。

3。5 stars because this book really was very motivating himself。 I feel like the author did repeat himself every so often but in different ways but other than that a good read!

Inward by Yung Pueblo is a beautiful collection of spiritual poems。 Two serve as an intro of sorts, followed by 5 sections- Distance, Union, Interlude, Self-Love, and Understanding。 This book dealt me a gut punch。 These poems sang to my soul, conjuring sadness and longing, but hope as well。 They are about loving yourself, and finding your own self-worth, which I am in desperate need of doing。 I just have such a hard time of it。 I feel patently unlovable。 I do get locked in obsessions and binges, Inward by Yung Pueblo is a beautiful collection of spiritual poems。 Two serve as an intro of sorts, followed by 5 sections- Distance, Union, Interlude, Self-Love, and Understanding。 This book dealt me a gut punch。 These poems sang to my soul, conjuring sadness and longing, but hope as well。 They are about loving yourself, and finding your own self-worth, which I am in desperate need of doing。 I just have such a hard time of it。 I feel patently unlovable。 I do get locked in obsessions and binges, trying to use outer things to fill an emptiness that cannot be filled with frivolity。 I ended up purchasing a copy of my own, and enjoy flipping through to random poems, using the one I land on as a meditation focus。 Highly recommended for those who enjoy poetry, and all things spiritual。***Many thanks to the Netgalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for providing an egalley in exchange for a fair and honest review。 。。。more

Inward is a beautiful poetry collection that focuses on self-love, self-healing, and all the good that can come from these。Diego Perez writes under the pen name Yung Pueblo, which means “young people,” according to his bio in the back of the book。Pueblo begins with what he feels will be the lesson of the 21st century: that to harm another is to harm oneself and to heal oneself is to heal the world。 That sets the tone for the poems that follow。Poems are grouped into sections: distance, union, int Inward is a beautiful poetry collection that focuses on self-love, self-healing, and all the good that can come from these。Diego Perez writes under the pen name Yung Pueblo, which means “young people,” according to his bio in the back of the book。Pueblo begins with what he feels will be the lesson of the 21st century: that to harm another is to harm oneself and to heal oneself is to heal the world。 That sets the tone for the poems that follow。Poems are grouped into sections: distance, union, interlude, self-love, understanding。 Interlude is a short story of sorts that sticks to the overall theme of the book。Most of the poems are short, and a few pieces of short prose are woven among them。 They speak of recognizing the pain we carry in ourselves and the importance of self-love to heal that pain, so we can offer our best selves to the world。Pueblo’s writing is thoughtful and direct。 You don’t need master sleuthing skills to decipher his meaning。 This leaves the reader able to simply read and absorb。I recommend this collection to lovers of poetry, as well as lovers of the self-help section。 You may find more direction toward self-healing in this small volume than in a dense, text-heavy nonfiction book。 I plan to buy the paperback copy to add to my shelf, because I want to revisit these poems again and again。 They are good lessons and reminders。Disclaimer: I received an advance-read copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review。 。。。more

I felt a sense of intelligence coming from Inward, as if the author was writing ancient proverbs and poetry at the same time。 The word "self-care" comes to mind when I read through the pages of Inward, and I love how the book promotes self-care and has much to say about what we ought to do and are not doing。 This would not be my favorite poetry book but as they say to each his own! This book is a brilliant call for self-love in order to find personal freedom and in order to create a better world。 It demands brutal self-honesty and is truly, deeply inspiring。 I strongly recommend this book to everyone。 Those who are willing to take an honest look at themselves for the purpose of growth and are willing to take a rigorously honest look at our world will particularly enjoy this beautiful masterpiece。
