It's so important girls have these kind of role models growing up so that they can feel like anything is possible。 Ashley makes mistakes and she dates the wrong guy and sometimes says the wrong things but that's what makes her human and a young girl just trying to figure her shit out。 At the end, it all works out the way it's supposed to and I think it teaches the valuable lesson of moving on even when things don't work out the way you wanted them to。While there were parts of this novel that definitely got on my nerves and while it wasn't always written in the most cohesive way, I was smiling ear-to-ear by the end of it。 I would totally reread this if I was feeling down。 I think a lot of teen girls out there would enjoy this book and if you're a Swiftie, you'll adore this book。 Highly, highly recommend。 。。。more

Ashley Bergen has one thing, and one thing only on her mind: the future。 Between her immaculate vision board, her stellar SAT scores, her math/coding/tutoring extracurriculars, and her top notch grades, Ashley’s acceptance to the summer internship of her dreams should be a no-brainer。 Also a no-brainer is Ashley’s non-existent love life。 Or social life。 Or any life beyond getting out of Brooklyn and into Silicon Valley。 However, you can’t force life to go your way, and when Ashley finds all her Ashley Bergen has one thing, and one thing only on her mind: the future。 Between her immaculate vision board, her stellar SAT scores, her math/coding/tutoring extracurriculars, and her top notch grades, Ashley’s acceptance to the summer internship of her dreams should be a no-brainer。 Also a no-brainer is Ashley’s non-existent love life。 Or social life。 Or any life beyond getting out of Brooklyn and into Silicon Valley。 However, you can’t force life to go your way, and when Ashley finds all her plans burnt to smithereens, her childhood best friend and rising social media prankster, Jason, challenges her to let go and let loose because they only get to experience high school once。 Rattled by rejection, Ashley decides to make a change。 She’s saying yes instead of no (TS reference is a yes here because Ashley is a huge Swiftie!)。 Enter Walker Beech, the beautiful, charismatic, mysterious boy from Ashley’s history class that Ashley has been secretly crushing on for more than a year。 When fate throws Ashley a chance, she decides to jump then fall into Walker。 Then all hell breaks loose。 For context: Walker is high key “The Way I Loved You” and “I Knew You Were Trouble” vibes and。。。Jason is “You Belong With Me” and “Lover” vibes。 Needless to say, Ashley has some breaking up and coming undone to go through, and maybe even a rollercoaster kind of rush or two before it’s all said and done。 。。。more

✨Happy, free, confused, and lonely at the same time。✨My Epic Spring Break (Up) was a light and breezy YA romp through NYC。 It was a quick read and pretty low angst but it made ME the angsty one。 I’m lucky, I had a pretty good high school experience but lord please don’t take me back。 I’ve read a lot of YA but this one hit me different because high school me relates hardcore to Ashley—sans cute childhood friend (truly unfortunate for me)。 Ashley’s crushes and decision making skills were just so h ✨Happy, free, confused, and lonely at the same time。✨My Epic Spring Break (Up) was a light and breezy YA romp through NYC。 It was a quick read and pretty low angst but it made ME the angsty one。 I’m lucky, I had a pretty good high school experience but lord please don’t take me back。 I’ve read a lot of YA but this one hit me different because high school me relates hardcore to Ashley—sans cute childhood friend (truly unfortunate for me)。 Ashley’s crushes and decision making skills were just so honest and foolish and real。 I saw so much of myself in her that I was just screaming HONEY BUN NO PLEASE I BEG YOU like I was taking a megaphone to my high school photos so past me could catch some common sense。 I could feel my college stick-and-poke staring me in the face, shaking its head。 (I love it though, but yeah it was a permanent impulse decision。) This book just elicited such visceral reactions from me it was pretty remarkable。Taylor Swift was such a huge part of my childhood, so I appreciated the unabashed reverence Ashley has for her。 I was in ninth grade when Red came out and eleventh when 1989 was sent down from the heavens。 I had a Taylor Swift backpack and still have her giant poster from the Fearless middle school days。 I remember sitting at the computer recording her Speak Now documentary on my iPod nano so I could watch it on the school bus。 This book, like much of my life, is a love letter to Taylor。 I know I still have some of the light-up batons from her concerts and in my mind there’s nothing better to whomp Walker over the head with。 UGH he made me sick and I was totally bamboozled。 I mean I read the back but I was like “maybe he’s a charm underneath” which is exactly the reason I’m not the poster child for successful romances。Jason on the other hand was just a floppy, good-natured dream。 I say floppy because he’s got that puppy dog aura。 There’s something about the brown eyes that just eat me up。 He was a d o r a b l e。 I mentioned before that this was low-angst and I really think it has to do with the length。 There just wasn’t much room to get caught up in long-winded bad decisions。 Ashley made decisions that made me cringe, but I couldn’t help but understand her point of view。 I appreciated the ending and I think it was concluded in the right way! I would have liked to see more of the two being all happy and cutesy in PDA glory, so hopefully there will be more books。 I loved Ashley’s friends and would love to see their relationships in the spotlight! I received this book from Kristin and it’s seriously such a beauty!!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 。。。more

This was just a sweet, adorable read, nothing heavy and a nice way to spend a gentle afternoon。 I loved that the main focus of the novel was girls in a STEM setting, and as it made me feel like I'd like to know a little more about coding, hopefully it can have that affect on those a bit younger than me too。 It's always great to be in a New York setting, even if there were only brief snatches of Manhattan here and there throughout the novel。 There is a clear winner in the love interest space from This was just a sweet, adorable read, nothing heavy and a nice way to spend a gentle afternoon。 I loved that the main focus of the novel was girls in a STEM setting, and as it made me feel like I'd like to know a little more about coding, hopefully it can have that affect on those a bit younger than me too。 It's always great to be in a New York setting, even if there were only brief snatches of Manhattan here and there throughout the novel。 There is a clear winner in the love interest space from just a few pages in, and I was rooting for him the whole time。 Ashley herself was a good amount of naive whilst still having her own thoughts and goals, which made the story and the characters feel believable。 My only criticism is the almost instalove scenario, and two of the characters declaring their love for each other before they've even kissed。 It made the book and the characters themselves feel a little more juvenile, which didn't really feel like it fitted with the rest of the book。 'I really like you' would have worked so much better! All in all, a super readable book that would make a lovely beach read in the summer months! 。。。more

This was a very cute story, that was super easy to read and went by really fast。 Ashley reminded me of myself in high school, which made me laugh, loved her friendships, felt kind of bad for her because of her dad, I wanted to shake him as a mom, and her decisions made me cringe。 So glad that I’m not in high school anymore。 Overall I enjoyed the story, there were a lot of Taylor Swift references that got overboard but other than that it was a good story。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I found Ashley a bit of a hard sell。 She just seemed like such a doormat, content to be treated like dirt over and over again。 I wanted her to stand up for herself MUCH earlier than she actually did。 I wasn’t a fan of either guy。 Walker was a total tool pretty much from the getgo and Ashley came off as super desperate, doing pretty much anything to keep his attention, including doing his homework for him, letting him borrow a laptop that wasn’t hers to lend out, sneaking out to see him, etc。 I l I found Ashley a bit of a hard sell。 She just seemed like such a doormat, content to be treated like dirt over and over again。 I wanted her to stand up for herself MUCH earlier than she actually did。 I wasn’t a fan of either guy。 Walker was a total tool pretty much from the getgo and Ashley came off as super desperate, doing pretty much anything to keep his attention, including doing his homework for him, letting him borrow a laptop that wasn’t hers to lend out, sneaking out to see him, etc。 I liked Jason more, but honestly I’ve never been super into pranks or pranking people so he came off as immature rather than funny。 Ashley realizing that she was in love with Jason came out of nowhere - AND she still went out with Walker which I found irritating。 Overall I liked the coding aspects, and the message of the book, but I was hoping for a lot more from the romance, and it was a cute, quick read that I mostly enjoyed。 。。。more

God, this book was not it。 It starts off characterizing the MC as a TOTAL nerd, and that's fine because that's exactly how I was in high school too。 What bothered me is that the story lacked any real conflict and I felt like I read a 10k fic on Tumblr instead of an actual published novel。 However, as a CS major myself, I appreciated the realistic depiction of coding instead of what some writers do, which is make up a bunch of weird technical terms for no reason instead of real research。 The firs God, this book was not it。 It starts off characterizing the MC as a TOTAL nerd, and that's fine because that's exactly how I was in high school too。 What bothered me is that the story lacked any real conflict and I felt like I read a 10k fic on Tumblr instead of an actual published novel。 However, as a CS major myself, I appreciated the realistic depiction of coding instead of what some writers do, which is make up a bunch of weird technical terms for no reason instead of real research。 The first love interest had no intriguing hook and the chemistry was lacking。 That even goes for the second love interest。 Overall, this book was not good but not bad enough to warrant a 1 star review。 。。。more

I am definitely on a cute YA romance kick and this totally fits that criteria。 I love Ashley and her nerdiness, even with the breakdown (it probably help tbh because who doesn’t love a sweet mess?)。 I also love her friends and how close they are。 I also love Jason because of his prankster way。 I can’t help but smile at his ‘brilliant ideas’。 I will also say that there was a trend in real-life where people would film pranks that were not… kind… (to put it nicely) so I was hesitant about him。 But I am definitely on a cute YA romance kick and this totally fits that criteria。 I love Ashley and her nerdiness, even with the breakdown (it probably help tbh because who doesn’t love a sweet mess?)。 I also love her friends and how close they are。 I also love Jason because of his prankster way。 I can’t help but smile at his ‘brilliant ideas’。 I will also say that there was a trend in real-life where people would film pranks that were not… kind… (to put it nicely) so I was hesitant about him。 But once I learned about some of his pranks (current and past), my fears were squashed。 These are actually harmless, at least as harmless as minor class disruptions can be considered harmless (annoying for teachers, loved by students and passes after a few minutes)。 I greatly appreciated this depiction of mischief because that is not the current trend on social media platforms and taking this approach may shift the idea that funny = mean, because some of his ideas are really funny。Overall, I love this story。 The plot is strong and kept me engage throughout the story。 I always wanted to keep reading。 I can definitely see this being picked up by Netflix as a new The Kissing Booth or To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before obsession。 (Psst… Netflix… *gestures frantically*)The release date of this book was perfectly timed, and I highly recommend reading it during Spring break because it just fits so well。 That being said, if you can’t get to it right away it will also be a great summer read, or a “get warm in winter” read。 。。。more

It took me a while to get invested in this story, but once it picked up, it was a fun and lighthearted pick-me-up! I also felt the need for more feels。 All of a sudden she is in love with people? While the character was well developed, I think the plot points needed more work。 On the other hand, it made the read super quick and we get to the point in a blink whenever anything happens。 But I liked the characters and I liked the proposal, so I would have liked to spend more time with them all。If you need some YA to chill, this is a great pick, but it could have been more special with a bit more work on the development。Honest review based on an ARC provided by Netgalley。 Many thanks to the publisher for this opportunity。 。。。more
