Summary

“It is said that fact is sometimes stranger than fiction, and nowhere is that more true than in the case of black holes。 Black holes are stranger than anything dreamed up by science fiction writers。”

In 2016 Professor Stephen Hawking delivered the BBC Reith Lectures on a subject that fascinated him for decades – black holes。

In these flagship lectures the legendary physicist argued that if we could only understand black holes and how they challenge the very nature of space and time, we could unlock the secrets of the universe。

I only have an entry level interest in physics, but this is so beginner friendly and genuinely so so interesting :)

To the point and thoroughly engaging, worth a read if somewhat interested in cosmos。

Very interesting read!Stephen Hawking never stops amazing you, period。 Black holes being so mysterious, any amount of discussion on this subject is less and Stephen Hawking had the talent of making such complex topics simpler and more interesting。。i really enjoyed reading the book!

An excellent pocketbook about Black Holes。 It's not targeting a particular section of readers。 Even an average reader with no knowledge in physics would find it interesting and easy to grasp the theories mentioned in this book。 An excellent pocketbook about Black Holes。 It's not targeting a particular section of readers。 Even an average reader with no knowledge in physics would find it interesting and easy to grasp the theories mentioned in this book。 。。。more

The fact is undeniably sometimes stranger than a fiction。 A condensed but very clear explanation on black holes which you can read in one hour。

Here in this book, great scientist Stephen Hawking explains in his BBC Reith lectures the esoteric subject of Black Hole of the universe in a witty simple language that can enter into black hole of the dumbest head。 David Shukman's little notes is a great help。 Here in this book, great scientist Stephen Hawking explains in his BBC Reith lectures the esoteric subject of Black Hole of the universe in a witty simple language that can enter into black hole of the dumbest head。 David Shukman's little notes is a great help。 。。。more

My critique for this book lies not in the lectures themselves (which are, in my opinion, too short), but in the way this book is comprised of 50% graphics - which barely added anything to my understanding - and 30% superfluous commentary。 Though I read the book as an ebook, I can imagine the formatting that it took to get the book to a state where it could be sold for 20€。 This may be the popular science (or Stephen Hawking hype) curse, but I still find it rather insulting。I really should stop m My critique for this book lies not in the lectures themselves (which are, in my opinion, too short), but in the way this book is comprised of 50% graphics - which barely added anything to my understanding - and 30% superfluous commentary。 Though I read the book as an ebook, I can imagine the formatting that it took to get the book to a state where it could be sold for 20€。 This may be the popular science (or Stephen Hawking hype) curse, but I still find it rather insulting。I really should stop making the mistake of picking up books in formats that I do not enjoy, huh? 。。。more
