This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Read it for school almost 4 years ago now。 Good book, but I found it to be quite boring and if I had the option。 I probably wouldn't of read the whole book。 Very good reveal at the end of the book though。 Read it for school almost 4 years ago now。 Good book, but I found it to be quite boring and if I had the option。 I probably wouldn't of read the whole book。 Very good reveal at the end of the book though。 。。。more

I had to read it to help a kid I tutor with a book report, so I wasn't expecting much。 Yet, it was much more interesting and engaging than I thought it would be, which was a pleasant surprise。 For a book aimed towards tweens and young teenagers, it touches on complex issues such as racial injustice, reparations, and even the prison industrial complex in a way that young teens could easily understand。 Although the writing was simple for my tastes, I understand that I'm not the target audience tha I had to read it to help a kid I tutor with a book report, so I wasn't expecting much。 Yet, it was much more interesting and engaging than I thought it would be, which was a pleasant surprise。 For a book aimed towards tweens and young teenagers, it touches on complex issues such as racial injustice, reparations, and even the prison industrial complex in a way that young teens could easily understand。 Although the writing was simple for my tastes, I understand that I'm not the target audience that Sachar had in mind。 Overall, a fun and thoughtful read that's enjoyable for both adults and teenagers。 。。。more

Literally one of the best books I’ve read。 It’s a favorite of mine and I can’t wait to read it again。 It conveys so many messages and themes about incarceration, racism, the prison complex, and how integrated our actions are in each other’s lives。 It’s perfect for younger audiences without pulling any punches and I love it for that。

Karen

I loved this book。 It was fairly short, well written and charming。 I would highly recommend to anyone。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 This book was very well written and very interesting, it had a great story line and was set in a middle of the desert where bad boys dig holes to turn into good boys。

Ironically I read this because of the movie。 I remember really liking this movie when I was younger and the book did not disappoint。 A nice nostalgic read。

My kids all read this book and thought it was good。 It was good, not great。 Silly, fun little storyline with a touch of John Grisham like justice inserted。

Even though this was a required "school read", this book quickly became a favorite! Even though this was a required "school read", this book quickly became a favorite! 。。。more

Engaging middle grade read- curious if Sachar researched some of the historic juvenile corrections facilities while writing this。 It's a Nickel Boys for younger readers, with an earlier incarnation of Dolores Umbridge and a much better outcome。 Engaging middle grade read- curious if Sachar researched some of the historic juvenile corrections facilities while writing this。 It's a Nickel Boys for younger readers, with an earlier incarnation of Dolores Umbridge and a much better outcome。 。。。more

Dain gives it five stars for character development, and the relatability of the characters, especially Stanley。

I loved this book because it is a good story of friendship combined with many life lessons。 This is a book that people of all age ranges can find interest in。 I love the story of friendship, and then how in the long run things add up and come together。 I also like the idea of karma that was shown in the text with treating people rudely and with disrespect。 Also to make things even better, this book has a movie which is even better, getting to see everything visually and all of that。 I definitely I loved this book because it is a good story of friendship combined with many life lessons。 This is a book that people of all age ranges can find interest in。 I love the story of friendship, and then how in the long run things add up and come together。 I also like the idea of karma that was shown in the text with treating people rudely and with disrespect。 Also to make things even better, this book has a movie which is even better, getting to see everything visually and all of that。 I definitely recommend it。 。。。more
