Summary

A detective’s brutal first case could make or break her career in an exhilarating thriller by #1 New York Times bestselling author Lee Goldberg。

A video of Deputy Eve Ronin’s off-duty arrest of an abusive movie star goes viral, turning her into a popular hero at a time when the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is plagued by scandal。 The sheriff, desperate for more positive press, makes Eve the youngest female homicide detective in the department’s history。

Now Eve, with a lot to learn and resented by her colleagues, has to justify her new badge。 Her chance comes when she and her burned-out, soon-to-retire partner are called to the blood-splattered home of a missing single mother and her two kids。 The horrific carnage screams multiple murder—but there are no corpses。

Eve has to rely on her instincts and tenacity to find the bodies and capture the vicious killer, all while battling her own insecurities and mounting pressure from the media, her bosses, and the bereaved family。 It’s a deadly ordeal that will either prove her skills…or totally destroy her。

Lost Hills Reads Like A Very Good Video This was my first Lee Goldberg book, but certainly won't be my last! The action and humor keeps everything moving at a pace both high speed and non-stop, very much like watching a video。 Lost Hills Reads Like A Very Good Video This was my first Lee Goldberg book, but certainly won't be my last! GrippingThis is police procedural at its best, with plenty of local (ie movie town) color。 Feels like LA culture for real and a great story。 When's the movie coming out? Meanwhile I'll look for the next book。。。 Mr。 Goldberg, thank you for a fun read。 GrippingThis is police procedural at its best, with plenty of local (ie movie town) color。 Feels like LA culture for real and a great story。 When's the movie coming out? Easy but yet interesting This book was a quick easy read, but kept my attention during the book。 I am already on the second book in the series。

Interesting book with a tough, young female detective who faces real-world problems - working during California's fires, facing more experienced and hostile male detectives, and social media。 I was interested enough in Eve that I'm on the waiting list for her next two novels。 (Apparently, I downloaded this one through Amazon Prime。) Interesting book with a tough, young female detective who faces real-world problems - working during California's fires, facing more experienced and hostile male detectives, and social media。 I was interested enough in Eve that I'm on the waiting list for her next two novels。 (Apparently, I downloaded this one through Amazon Prime。) 。。。more

FANTASTIC!This was my first read from this author and I was engaged right from page one。 The author convincingly recounts a hideous violent crime and the investigation which is lead by Eve Ronin。 A quick read and I can’t wait to read more in this series。 Eve Ronin is a rocking detective。

Ashley

Very cliche。 You can tell the female character was written by a man。 Basically: rouge female cop solves crimes all by herself bc supervisors and bosses are all too dumb。 And of course, the female cop has “issues”。

Catherine

I don’t often read this kind of book, but this was a good one, and it was short。 Eve Ronin has a big future。

Finished “Lost Hills” by Lee Goldberg, Book 1 of the Detective Eve Ronin series。 Eve is the youngest detective of the LASD。

Good readFast moving and entailed。 Eve’s someone I want on my side for sure。 Good to devour in a rainy weekend。

Rhettleigh Milnor

Fun, fast read。 It’s basically like reading an episode of a show like “The Closer” or “Rizzoli and Isles。”

Jay Melancon

Taut thrillerFast paced crime thriller。 Eve is a great new character who is well developed。 The technical details of forensics and homicide procedure are spot on。

Jimmie Martinez

Riveting and Fast PacedDeputy Eve Ronin is a young female homicide detective that gets little respect from her male counterparts。 Her tenacity, guts, and brains shows that the men are no match for her investigative skills。 Fighting against the tide of chauvinism, a violent murderer, and the system。 Eve solves the case, saves a life, and puts a bad guy in jail。 Not a bad job for our unique female protagonist。

Annette Watson

Quick readDefinitely was a great book after reading some very deep hard books。 I would recommend starting with the first book。 I look forward to reading all the books in the series。

It's fun to follow along on the adventures of a strong female protagonist, Eve Ronin, a deputy sheriff in Los Angeles who gets promoted before her time into a homicide unit。 The book reads like a TV show and has interesting side-characters。 The main crime and aftermath, plus Eve picking up on things more seasoned detectives missed, pushed my suspended disbelief, but it was a fun read。 It's fun to follow along on the adventures of a strong female protagonist, Eve Ronin, a deputy sheriff in Los Angeles who gets promoted before her time into a homicide unit。 The book reads like a TV show and has interesting side-characters。 The main crime and aftermath, plus Eve picking up on things more seasoned detectives missed, pushed my suspended disbelief, but it was a fun read。 。。。more

IntelligentGreat story。 A page turner。 Nice to have a woman portrayed as a real woman and not some cliche or stereotype。

Jack Harold Kemeny

Affective story that will keep you on the edge of your seat。This murder mysteryh gets to the place where you must keep reading。 The female detective who got promoted ahead of her male officers shows them that she can save the child and solve a very gruesome murder without their help。

Heather

Reading this feels like working。 You know what is going to happen but you must go through the grind。 Unsubtle。 Shades of *menwritingwomen*。 Its like a tv show that you read。

Preethi

My first Lee Goldberg book and I absolutely loved it。 Fast paced and thrilling。
