Summary

In this action-packed thriller, Miami just got a lot more dangerous—especially for one innocent young woman running for her life。

The city of Miami is Detective Tom Moon's back yard。 He's always kept it local, attending University of Miami on a football scholarship, and, as a Miami PD officer, protecting the city's most vulnerable。

Now, as the new leader of an FBI task force called "Operation Guardian," it's his mission to combat international crime。 Moon's investigative team discovers that the opportunistic "Blood Brothers"—Russian nationals Roman and Emile Rostoff—have evaded authorities while building a vast, powerful, and deadly crime syndicate throughout Europe and metropolitan Miami。

Moon played offense for U of M, but he's on the other side of the field this time。 And as the Rostoffs zero in on a target dear to Tom, they're not playing by anyone's rules。

Really a 3。5。 It’s not a bad story for a beach read。 Chapters are short, story moves quickly, and has a satisfactory ending。 If you aren’t looking for anything deep and engrossing this will fit the bill。

A suspenseful story about human trafficking。 This novel is a departure from the usual story line of this author。 The story begins in Miami but the principal investigator must travel around the world in search of the ring of Russian mobsters who are destroying poor Europeans girls’ lives by offering them safe passage to the US and jobs as maids。 Once arrive in the US they are forced into prostitution and hooked on drugs to keep them under control。 Things get complicated when one of the female tra A suspenseful story about human trafficking。 This novel is a departure from the usual story line of this author。 The story begins in Miami but the principal investigator must travel around the world in search of the ring of Russian mobsters who are destroying poor Europeans girls’ lives by offering them safe passage to the US and jobs as maids。 Once arrive in the US they are forced into prostitution and hooked on drugs to keep them under control。 Things get complicated when one of the female traffickers has her own daughter kidnapped as a scheme to blackmail her for the money she owes the Russian mob。 。。。more

****3。5 Stars Rounded Up****This was a solid, easy, enjoyable read。 It was definitely not my "favorite" James Patterson book, but still very good。 This was the first book in the Tom Moon series。 Tom Moon is a Miami detective who has joined an FBI task force called "Operation Guardian"。 He is investigating a human trafficking ring stemming from Amsterdam that is connected to Miami。 It involves the notorious Rostoff brothers, Roman and Emile, and their connections Hanna and Albert Greete, along wi ****3。5 Stars Rounded Up****This was a solid, easy, enjoyable read。 It was definitely not my "favorite" James Patterson book, but still very good。 This was the first book in the Tom Moon series。 Tom Moon is a Miami detective who has joined an FBI task force called "Operation Guardian"。 He is investigating a human trafficking ring stemming from Amsterdam that is connected to Miami。 It involves the notorious Rostoff brothers, Roman and Emile, and their connections Hanna and Albert Greete, along with Amsterdam detective Marie Meijer who works close with Tom Moon to try to bring down the ring。 The plot was somewhat predictable。 However, I really thought the characters and their relationships were developed well。 I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series (I am excited to see how Tom and Marie's relationship develops)。 I'm really glad the authors chose the subject of human trafficking。 I don't think we shed enough light on this major issue that goes on everyday right underneath our noses。 Thank you to Goodreads and both authors for my copy of this book in exchange for an honest review。 。。。more

DifferentI don't really like international type stories but this is James Patterson。 I do recommend this。 I like that this is a new character who uses quotes a lot。 It is a fast read and picked up more towards the end。 I am interested to see where this series eject。 DifferentI don't really like international type stories but this is James Patterson。 I do recommend this。 I like that this is a new character who uses quotes a lot。 It is a fast read and picked up more towards the end。 I am interested to see where this series eject。 。。。more

It flows beautifully。 But it is too short, it could easily have more plot and 200 more pages。 A thriller book where nothing goes wrong for the main character?

Lost felt as if the plot became a little lost at times。 For a thriller the action is sparse and there is basically no suspense to speak of。 The novel does a commendable job of introducing the main character and his team, but does little else to sell me on reading a sequel if this were to be made into a series。This is another novel where the blurb holds all the promise and the novel itself doesn't rise to the challenge。 With the setting and the subject matter, this could have been a lot gritter a Lost felt as if the plot became a little lost at times。 For a thriller the action is sparse and there is basically no suspense to speak of。 The novel does a commendable job of introducing the main character and his team, but does little else to sell me on reading a sequel if this were to be made into a series。This is another novel where the blurb holds all the promise and the novel itself doesn't rise to the challenge。 With the setting and the subject matter, this could have been a lot gritter and packed with a lot more danger and suspense。 However, we have a product that was filled with a lot of frills instead of thrills, and a whole lot of fluff。 I kind of get a feeling Tom is partly based of Alex Cross personality wise, which seemed a bit of a cop out on behalf of the authors。Would I read anything else by James O Born? I'm not sure。 It would have to be a lot better than this this novel。 。。。more

An enjoyable read。 Short chapters so you can put the book down and pick it up again without losing the story line。

I really enjoyed this first in a series! I'm glad that this character will have more books。 Tom Moon is a likable character and a talented detective。 I enjoyed the way he worked the case。 It was interesting that quite a few characters didn't speak English first but the author didn't include any foreign dialect (at least not in the audio version)。 Not sure why, but I would've liked to see that。 Oh well。 Hopefully the next book will be just as good as this one! This book was not great。 I wanted to like Detective Tom Moon, but instead felt like he was the "Flat Stanley" version of Alex Cross。 Almost interesting, almost good looking, almost a bad ass。 As with the storyline itself, character descriptions were vague and jumpy。 I finished the book, but will probably not be reading any additional books in this "series"。 This book was not great。 I wanted to like Detective Tom Moon, but instead felt like he was the "Flat Stanley" version of Alex Cross。 Almost interesting, almost good looking, almost a bad ass。 As with the storyline itself, character descriptions were vague and jumpy。 I finished the book, but will probably not be reading any additional books in this "series"。 。。。more

The book was good but I found it slow moving until the last quarter of the book。 Story was good and characters were real。

3 to 3。5 stars for a very readable police thriller。

Lost is my first James Patterson book and I was not disappointed。 It is a fantastic story with a great pace。 The chapters are short so you will find yourself flying through the book。 The characters are excellent, especially the lead Det。 Tom Moon。 He has such a great personality and really makes the story。 As for the plot, human trafficking, corruption, shady Russians, and Florida could be torn from the headlines。 It's believable and well researched。 It's my first Patterson book but won't be my Lost is my first James Patterson book and I was not disappointed。 It is a fantastic story with a great pace。 The chapters are short so you will find yourself flying through the book。 The characters are excellent, especially the lead Det。 Tom Moon。 He has such a great personality and really makes the story。 As for the plot, human trafficking, corruption, shady Russians, and Florida could be torn from the headlines。 It's believable and well researched。 It's my first Patterson book but won't be my last。 It is really a great read。 。。。more

I thought it was a good book。 I’m excited that it’s going to be a series! The title seemed off to me though…。 Not very fitting。

I loved this book!! It the beginning it did take me some time to get into to it but in the end it was totally worth it。 I was a little confused about how the description of the book didn’t really match the book。 However I still liked the book。

Nancy Bergantzel

This was an easy read。 Predictable but fun read。

In the beginning it was hard to read but towards chapter 54 it just got more and more intense。 Definitely suggest if you are in the crime, mystery, and suspense。

Kelly Allen

Such a fantastic introduction to the character of Tom moon :)

One of THE BEST books I have EVER read!

Sean A。

Meh。 Really struggles getting into this one。 Patterson isn’t like he once was, but it’s been years since I read one of his books。 It was just boring to me, which is almost worse than being bad。

Billy Emerson

A reasonably good read which I enjoyed without it ever reaching the pace that Ive come to expect from James Patterson collaberations。 Not as much of a page turner as many of the other books but a reasonably good storyline with enough action to keep me interested but lacking twists and turns that make a good read an excellent read。 Another "Patterson" ticked off the list though so its on to the next one。 A reasonably good read which I enjoyed without it ever reaching the pace that Ive come to expect from James Patterson collaberations。 Not as much of a page turner as many of the other books but a reasonably good storyline with enough action to keep me interested but lacking twists and turns that make a good read an excellent read。 Another "Patterson" ticked off the list though so its on to the next one。 。。。more

Jeri

Typical James Patterson。 Hero who gets things done。 This one has human trafficking and a detective from Amsterdam。

David Winslow Winslow

Fast paced。 Liked the characters。 The title and the headline are a bit deceiving。 But not a bad book。 Easy candy reading。 Each chapter is a couple pages to make it easily consumable。

Jordon Oakley

Nothing cool happened。 Detective finds some human traffick victims。 Escorts them back home to Europe。 Ends up back in Miami looking for more victims。 He finds them, rescues them and gives their boss a subpoena。 Boring as fuck

Jennifer

Of all the Patterson novels I’ve read (and enjoyed!) this is the most ABC-After-School-Special of them all。

Gigi Thrasher

Love James Born。 Looking up anything he may have written alone now。 He’s my favorite Patterson co-writer。
