Summary

You'll lose a lot of sleep。
Ralph does。 At first he starts waking up earlier。 And earlier。 Then the hallucinations start - the colours, shapes and strange auras。 Not to mention the bald doctors who always turn up at the scene of a death。

That's when Ralph begins to lose a lot more than sleep。 When he begins to understand why his hitherto mild-mannered friend, Ed, is getting out of control - dangerously so。 And why his home town is about to become the new Armageddon 。 。 。

Every time I read King it’s an adventure I never want to end。 That being said, this one was ok。 It was kind of hard to get through for some reason。

A fitting book to stay up late reading。 (it's 21。 48 but very late for me)。 Ralph is having some kind of weird and twisted insomnia and reality starts becoming something of the strange side and so much more。 As almost always I enjoyed to characters build up, the mystery of it all was also interesting to follow but it's the the development and the craftment of the characterst that I love the others stuff I nice bonus。 A fitting book to stay up late reading。 (it's 21。 48 but very late for me)。 Ralph is having some kind of weird and twisted insomnia and reality starts becoming something of the strange side and so much more。 As almost always I enjoyed to characters build up, the mystery of it all was also interesting to follow but it's the the development and the craftment of the characterst that I love the others stuff I nice bonus。 。。。more

Insomnia is a good breakaway for anyone tired of King's archetypal tortured writer protagonist。 Widower Ralph Roberts suffers from ever-worsening insomnia。 His world is slowly infected by frightening but beautiful hallucinations of colour around the people he encounters。 But it's not madness。 Ralph is discovering that he has an enigmatic role to play on his level of a delicate cosmic order。 Definitely for patient readers, and - fair warning - this book explores confronting perspectives on aborti Insomnia is a good breakaway for anyone tired of King's archetypal tortured writer protagonist。 Widower Ralph Roberts suffers from ever-worsening insomnia。 His world is slowly infected by frightening but beautiful hallucinations of colour around the people he encounters。 But it's not madness。 Ralph is discovering that he has an enigmatic role to play on his level of a delicate cosmic order。 Definitely for patient readers, and - fair warning - this book explores confronting perspectives on abortion and depictions of domestic violence。 。。。more

As a lover of The Dark Tower that I am, I have really enjoyed this novel because of its connections with the saga。 However, those who have not read it will not understand them and the book will become very boring。

Quelle superbe histoire ! My emotionally most favorite of Stephen King's books。 It is very spiritual, uplifting and strange。I cried at the end and still can summon the emotions to this day。This is a book that makes you feel better about the world, not in a sugary trivial way, but with a deeper sense of underlying goodness behind even the bad things in life。 My emotionally most favorite of Stephen King's books。 It is very spiritual, uplifting and strange。I cried at the end and still can summon the emotions to this day。This is a book that makes you feel better about the world, not in a sugary trivial way, but with a deeper sense of underlying goodness behind even the bad things in life。 。。。more

Picking this up to get extra reading on crimson king but ending up enjoying more than what I expected。 Few references on Roland and his world came up, make it all an interrelated dark tower universe。Enjoyable read。

I honestly loved the story! It was something completely different and unexpected。 4 stars just because it has sooo much unnecessary filler that could have substantially cut down on the 700+ page count。

5。0 stars。 This book is long。 It is also worth every page。 I worried about the last 150 pages。 I thought I had the book figured out, but King surprised me。 This book is just bursting with characterization。 I grew to love the main characters。 The ending felt appropriate and had a ton of heart。 The cross overs with IT and The Dark Tower are entrancing。 I cannot wait to read more King。

Excellent。 I enjoyed this book, it was better than expected。 Best Stephen King so far。。。

An interesting read for fans of the Dark Tower series, but a weak entry as a stand alone book。

Once you read this book there is no coming back, while you are reading Insomnia you feel like you are deeply connected with the main character。

Love and hateSometimes ill read a book and it changes me。 In little ways, small things like a random reference or a fly-away comment resonate in a new way, in a different light maybe。 Such occurrences may remind me of childhood or teenagehood or, now, in the years labeled as adulthood, i find myself thinking, and even stronger, feeling, its too much。 Im grateful Mr。 King。 Ive read much, but not nearly all, and ill continue the journey。 As always, thank you。 I hope i come out the other end, event Love and hateSometimes ill read a book and it changes me。 In little ways, small things like a random reference or a fly-away comment resonate in a new way, in a different light maybe。 Such occurrences may remind me of childhood or teenagehood or, now, in the years labeled as adulthood, i find myself thinking, and even stronger, feeling, its too much。 Im grateful Mr。 King。 Ive read much, but not nearly all, and ill continue the journey。 As always, thank you。 I hope i come out the other end, eventually。 。。。more

Maybe。 If nothing else, it made me appreciate the benefits of。a good night's sleep! 。。。more

Not a personal favorite。 I really liked the main protagonist Ralph Roberts and some of the heavy themes in this book, but I think it was way overlong。 The Dark Tower connections were cool, and the story being set in Derry was interesting。 Overall, not one of my favorites by Stephen King。

According to Mayo Clinic, symptoms of insomnia include difficulty falling asleep, irritability, depression, tiredness, and ongoing worries/paranoia about sleep。 (As a chronic insomnia sufferer, I can confirm all of the above。) According to Stephen King, symptoms of Insomnia include seeing auras, hidden things, and pushing yourself into an internal struggle of cosmic balance。 (And writing super long books, maybe? I really enjoyed the premise of the book and the first third i breezed through。 The second third is where things got rough and it became a bit too much。 Over explanations and alot of filler that felt like it was padding out the story。 It picks up again in the the final act。 Overall it is solid but can drag at a lot of points。
