Wow！！！ What a wonderful story！！！ Travis and Oakley's were just wonderful！！ These two are so different and they complement each other perfectly！！！ Together they were able to bring out the best of each other and creates this sweet and cute romance， I love everything about this book！It was fun to see how Oakley love annoying the ever loving out of Travis， Oakley just love his small town and his life in it， no complications and the simple life he is satisfied with what he have and Travis grumpy abou Wow！！！ What a wonderful story！！！ Travis and Oakley's were just wonderful！！ These two are so different and they complement each other perfectly！！！ Together they were able to bring out the best of each other and creates this sweet and cute romance， I love everything about this book！It was fun to see how Oakley love annoying the ever loving out of Travis， Oakley just love his small town and his life in it， no complications and the simple life he is satisfied with what he have and Travis grumpy about what he lost and not going to College and having the great time in a city and being able to live open as a gay man。 At first they didn’t make sense， because first Oakley was straight and second they are very different type of personality but due to their close proximity working together and slowly becoming friends and of course a chance between them everything is about to becoming more。 These two were on fire once they start this thing between them， I like how everything develops and how they realize that what they have was perfect and they best thing！ I love it！！ I cannot wait for more of this serie！ 。。。more

Received e-arc from Indie Author Creative in exchange for my honest review。 Book 3 in the Kensley Panthers series did not disappoint！ I’ve been anticipating Travis and Oakley’s story for quite a while now and was unsure how Nicole was going to make me believe that Travis was going to be okay with not being able to follow his dreams and spread his wings。 He’s always said that he’s wanted nothing to do with small towns and small minded people and his dream man is small and cute。 But in walks Oakle Received e-arc from Indie Author Creative in exchange for my honest review。 Book 3 in the Kensley Panthers series did not disappoint！ I’ve been anticipating Travis and Oakley’s story for quite a while now and was unsure how Nicole was going to make me believe that Travis was going to be okay with not being able to follow his dreams and spread his wings。 He’s always said that he’s wanted nothing to do with small towns and small minded people and his dream man is small and cute。 But in walks Oakley， whose larger than life and completely in his element working as a landscaper and living next door to his equally lovable best friend and his boyfriend。 Travis and Oakley are constantly butting heads， until Oakley steps up and asks for what he wants。 Travis goes along with Oakley under the ruse to gain experience for his actual dream man。 But while Travis and Oakley open up to each other their feeling start to bloom， right alongside the flowers they plant during their working hours。 I couldn’t put this one down， and flew through the story in one day！！ Looking forward to the next in this series 。。。more

***ARC Review***This is my honest review for the ARC I received。 This Kensley Panthers series is so awesome and I’m so delighted that I got to read the third installment！ Oakley and Travis are total opposites。 Travis is in his head a lot。 He wants to get away from small town life and go to college in a big city。 Travis can be a little snobbish and/or grumpy at times， but I think that stems from his dislike of small town life。 Oakley is super chill and goes with the flow。 He has a really big hear ***ARC Review***This is my honest review for the ARC I received。 This Kensley Panthers series is so awesome and I’m so delighted that I got to read the third installment！ Oakley and Travis are total opposites。 Travis is in his head a lot。 He wants to get away from small town life and go to college in a big city。 Travis can be a little snobbish and/or grumpy at times， but I think that stems from his dislike of small town life。 Oakley is super chill and goes with the flow。 He has a really big heart and just wants a simple， easygoing life。 He’s loud， funny， and kind。 Oakley loves being in a small town and hates traffic lights。 Travis is somewhat dejected after not getting a scholarship he wants that will take him away from Kensley， Kansas。 He works at the same landscaping company as Oakley （and Jameson and Garrison; I loved seeing those guys again） and is saving up to eventually go to college。 Oakley is perfectly content being a landscaper。 He is crazy good with his hands and does side projects that make him happy。 Oakley is convinced Travis needs to get laid to stop being so tense。 They agree to be friends with benefits。 The friends thing is new （especially on Travis’s part）。 Naturally， things progress from physical to emotional。 Both guys have to navigate their growing feelings for one another。 Nicole is a wizard at giving insight into her characters’ thoughts， fears， hopes， and dreams。 It was effortless loving this book while reading it。 Oakley is so darn lovable。 Travis is relatable。 Their steamy scenes are hot！ I really enjoyed this pairing and I was so happy that they figured out what works best for them。 These two falling for each other is heartwarming and heartfelt。 It’s always great when Nicole references previous characters from the series。 She makes a point of emphasizing how Kensley and other small towns are getting better about accepting that love is love。 I loved how easygoing and fun Oakley’s parents were。 I warmed up to Travis’s parents as well。 There is a little bit of conflict in the story with Travis dealing with his shifting desires/dreams and Oakley making sure that Travis gets to choose his own path and acquire what he wants out of life。 But of course they achieve their HEA。 The epilogue is adorable！ Also， Coach’s book is up next and I am already jumping out of my seat with excitement about it。 This series is addictive！ 。。。more

I’m not sure there is anything this author could write I wouldn’t read。 She puts so much heart into every single one of her stories。 You can feel love and acceptance all the way through despite whatever trials are going on。 Like so many of Nicole’s book this was a one sitting cover to cover read for me！ Just give me more of the simple life！

Four stars for DefenderIf you're looking for a heartwarming story about two people who aren't exactly friends or foes， who become lovers， then Defender by Nicole Dykes is the book for you。 The characters are well developed and endearing， and the story is easy to follow。 The book does a great job exploring the emotions that come with falling in love with someone who isn't your usual type。Originally， Oakley proposes that Travis sleep with him because he wants sex with no strings attached。 As their Four stars for DefenderIf you're looking for a heartwarming story about two people who aren't exactly friends or foes， who become lovers， then Defender by Nicole Dykes is the book for you。 The characters are well developed and endearing， and the story is easy to follow。 The book does a great job exploring the emotions that come with falling in love with someone who isn't your usual type。Originally， Oakley proposes that Travis sleep with him because he wants sex with no strings attached。 As their relationship deepens， however， the two discover that they both want something more at the end and Travis must face his own insecurities and think he needs to explore the world but。。。。。 That's not it。Eventually， they both realize they want the same thing: to be together， and not in a way that involves studying， live in a big city or anything in between。People often convey the outdated idea that small towns are bigoted and narrow-minded， but this book shows that even in these isolated areas， people can come to accept and support something outside of their comfort zone。 With Oakley， he knows he wants a typical suburban lifestyle， but he's reluctant to admit that all he really wants is him。The steamy scenes in the book are hot and the story is sweet and intoxicating。 I loved reading about Travis and Oakley's journey from friends to lovers。 If you're looking for a sexy and enjoyable read， I highly recommend Defender。Stylistically， Defender is comparable to Nicole Dykes' previous novel， Keeper。 Both explore The Straight that suggests the gay gain experience， but the stories leave readers with unique reflections on love between men。I received a free copy of this book via Indie Author Creative and am voluntarily leaving a review。 。。。more

When I heard the next book in this series would be Travis and Oakley， I didn't know what to expect。 After meeting Travis and Oakley in "Guarded" （Book 2 in this series）， you can see how both of these characters are completely different。 If you haven't read Guarded， I highly recommend it first for character development reasons。 However， you can read this book as a standalone as well。Travis and Oakley are different in many ways: from the dreams they have to how they both felt about high school and When I heard the next book in this series would be Travis and Oakley， I didn't know what to expect。 After meeting Travis and Oakley in "Guarded" （Book 2 in this series）， you can see how both of these characters are completely different。 If you haven't read Guarded， I highly recommend it first for character development reasons。 However， you can read this book as a standalone as well。Travis and Oakley are different in many ways: from the dreams they have to how they both felt about high school and growing up in a small town。 The least likely coupling， yet。。。 what started off as acquaintances to friendship， and then friendship with benefits， became nothing short of sweet caring and understanding for one another。My heart went out to Travis， who often times put himself down。 It made me sad when he thought he wasn't good enough。 But it made me love Oakley more when he realized right away this is not the truth， and he wanted to be the one to prove it to Travis。 Through the process Oakley begins to realize that Travis makes him want to try things that he never thought about before this new thing with Travis。Of course， nothing is simple。 Travis has to come to terms with a new outlook for his future in love， life and location。 Oakley deals with the consequences of being supportive even if it doesn't feel right at all。I swear I was going to write a short review， but this book was so good that I couldn't help it。 Be prepared for all of the feels in this book: laughter， happiness， guilt， sadness， etc。 It has it all！ I can't wait for more from this series。 I received an ARC copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review。 。。。more

I could not have asked for a better story for Travis and Oakley！ One of my favourite tropes is bi-awakening and I was just thinking I hadn’t read one in a bit and really wanted one， so this came at the perfect time for me！ Oakley’s bi-awakening was such a nice， easy situation。 I’m all for reading about characters who really struggle with it but sometimes it really nice just to read a story where the character is like “I’m attracted to this guy， great， let’s do this。” They had an interesting star I could not have asked for a better story for Travis and Oakley！ One of my favourite tropes is bi-awakening and I was just thinking I hadn’t read one in a bit and really wanted one， so this came at the perfect time for me！ Oakley’s bi-awakening was such a nice， easy situation。 I’m all for reading about characters who really struggle with it but sometimes it really nice just to read a story where the character is like “I’m attracted to this guy， great， let’s do this。” They had an interesting start to their relationship， seemed super sudden but it worked so well for them。 Their no-strings attached arrangement was so much fun and it was awesome to see them start getting attached to the other。 They ended up being absolutely perfect for each other in every way possible。 They were such a sweet， fun couple and had a lot of chemistry！I also loved how supportive both of them were towards to the other with what they wanted to do in their life。 They were always thinking about the other person and what was best for them， even when they were just friends fooling around。 It was so beautiful to see this fun， healthy relationship grow！I 100% recommend this book！ It is book 3 in the series， you don’t necessarily have to read book 1 before this （I would just because I loved it but not required） but would definitely suggest reading book 2 as these characters appear in book 2 first。 The next book in this series is actually about the football coach and I am quite excited to read it！ 。。。more
