She has become my favorite author。 Focus is fully on the case at hand, and those seeking to solve it。 And then we get snippets of the killers perspective。 All I know is that from the first page she grabs you by the throat and doesnt let go till you know who done it!

A social commentary crime novel。 Simple plot with clear cut characters。 You could say almost relaxed policing。 Conny even has a regular family life that's not toxic! Or sad。 I liked the extra story of Hamad and Westman。 An interesting sidebar that created a bit of edge to the series。 Unresolved so I'm going to continue to the next。 Marketed as Stieg Larsson etc。, Quite a big statement, nowhere near it but since this was based on real life, it does give you chills about the cruelty of children。 A social commentary crime novel。 Simple plot with clear cut characters。 You could say almost relaxed policing。 Conny even has a regular family life that's not toxic! A relatively solid "mystery"。 Admittedly, I did find it predictable but, to be fair, I wasn't looking for shock, I was looking for enjoyment。 It was pretty easy, language wise, and, though I don't plan to continue in the series, I think it's a pretty good intro。 A relatively solid "mystery"。 Admittedly, I did find it predictable but, to be fair, I wasn't looking for shock, I was looking for enjoyment。 It was pretty easy, language wise, and, though I don't plan to continue in the series, I think it's a pretty good intro。 。。。more

Ari,
At first I'd like to say this was better than many other detective/police novels。 Unfortunately the star scale is so robust that I must give just three stars - this would have earned a bit more。 But as I have a very strict policy about stars, four would have been too much。 Naturally the fact that I have recently read quite many "Nordic Noir" novels probably affects my rating - I'm a bit used to this kind of stories and therefore they seem to be too similar and "average"。 But as said, this was qu At first I'd like to say this was better than many other detective/police novels。 Unfortunately the star scale is so robust that I must give just three stars - this would have earned a bit more。 But as I have a very strict policy about stars, four would have been too much。 Naturally the fact that I have recently read quite many "Nordic Noir" novels probably affects my rating - I'm a bit used to this kind of stories and therefore they seem to be too similar and "average"。 But as said, this was quite good in its genre。 The police officers didn't have BIG personal issues but were more like normal persons with not-so-dramatic lives。 No alcohol or drug problems, no sinister secrets from history etc。 That was actually refreshing。The plot was quite simple and the reader knows the motives of the killer right away。 But there were surprises; everything wasn't predictable as tends to be the case in American movies。 I shall read more from Carin Gerhardsen when I'll have the possibility。 So I can naturally recommend this one too。PiparkakkutaloMinerva Kustannus 2020 。。。more

It was OK。 Longer than it needed to be。 I did not like the plot twist at the end。 There was also a second mystery case presented that was not fully developed enough and did not add much to the book。

Like, was she scared of 4 year olds? Did she just NGAF? if so, why did she become a preschool teacher in the first place?Yeah, it requires a lot of suspension of disbelief。 Oh, like how it took the detectives FOREVER to see that the recent spate of murders (of 44 year-olds from the same area) were linked。 Oof。Upside, the characters were likable and reasonably well developed and the writing was pretty good。 And the sideplot with the officer investigating her own date rape was actually interesting, even if it felt shoehorned in。 。。。more

Anne, Unfinished Woman,
This was a strange book。 The narrative whether the writing or the translation seemed wooden and sterile and I haven't read another quite like it。 While I might have enjoyed it in part with a good plot, after reading half of it I found myself in a chapter in the mind of the killer, a man who enjoyed torture。 I do not like graphic violence, and especially spending time in the mind of an evil person。 So I quit reading it。 This was a strange book。 The narrative whether the writing or the translation seemed wooden and sterile and I haven't read another quite like it。 While I might have enjoyed it in part with a good plot, after reading half of it I found myself in a chapter in the mind of the killer, a man who enjoyed torture。 I do not like graphic violence, and especially spending time in the mind of an evil person。 So I quit reading it。 。。。more
