Summary

From Tiktok phenomenon Whitney Hanson, a revised edition of her bestselling Home, now with a new introduction and more than a dozen new poems

"the bees aren’t going to go away
but they are going to change with you
sometimes they will be chaotic
sometimes they will rest
sometimes they will give you sweet honey
and sometimes they will remind you
of how much love can sting
but if you can find a home within yourself
and make peace with your bees
you will be alright”
--from Home

Resonant, raw, and vibrant, Home is a lyrical map to navigating heartbreak。 Tracing the stages of healing—from the despair that comes with the end of a relationship to the eventual light and liberation that comes with time—the poems in Home provide comfort and solace, while revitalizing your soul—and helping you make peace with your bees。

This book was so good, that a third of the way through it I went to buy her other book。 Half of the pages are dog-eared。 I loved every page of it。

Loved this: I think it is best summed up in this, interpreting emotions is hard sometimes it's okay if you need someone else's words to help you understand how you feel ~ poetry is the language of emotion This book chronicled something of my journey through love and loss。 Causing me to laugh at times, ponder, wonder, grieve, and heal。 Well done。 Loved this: I think it is best summed up in this, interpreting emotions is hard sometimes it's okay if you need someone else's words to help you understand how you feel ~ poetry is the language of emotion This book chronicled something of my journey through love and loss。 Causing me to laugh at times, ponder, wonder, grieve, and heal。 Well done。 。。。more

3 🌟 Jag hittade en del guldkorn i denna som jag kommer att bära med mig länge och som definitivt påverkat mitt betyg, men det jag tyckte allra mest om med den här samlingen var hur den fick mig att reflektera och lyssna inåt。

3。5 stars! this book was a beautiful collection of poetry that in the beginning was so alarmingly perfect for the situation that i’m going through, but as i continued, i fell out of perfection with it。 but that’s just because the emotion packed into the healing process hasn’t reached me yet—but thank you whitney hanson!! this book made me feel very seen 🫶

I have never read a book that describes exactly how I'm feeling until this one。 It literally describes how I'm feeling and it is amazing。 The words are well chosen and the message is there。 It is not just random words put together。 It is amazing and I loved it。 "I will burn the memory of youI will light these feelings on fire"this is my favorite line。 I have never read a book that describes exactly how I'm feeling until this one。 It literally describes how I'm feeling and it is amazing。 The words are well chosen and the message is there。 It is not just random words put together。 It is amazing and I loved it。 "I will burn the memory of youI will light these feelings on fire"this is my favorite line。 。。。more

While I did enjoy & relate to some of the poems in this collection, I found that (like a lot of Instagram poetry nowadays) it is surface level, vague, & doesn't dive deep into wordplay, rhyme, metaphors, similes, or different forms of poetry。 The theme is home & there is a weird thing about bees thrown in a couple of the poems but the book would essentially remain the same without whatever the bee thing is。 One of the worst poems in this book, which shows a lack of effort to actually use any poe While I did enjoy & relate to some of the poems in this collection, I found that (like a lot of Instagram poetry nowadays) it is surface level, vague, & doesn't dive deep into wordplay, rhyme, metaphors, similes, or different forms of poetry。 The theme is home & there is a weird thing about bees thrown in a couple of the poems but the book would essentially remain the same without whatever the bee thing is。 One of the worst poems in this book, which shows a lack of effort to actually use any poetic device within the entire book, is this:"my car wouldn't start todayand it felt a little metaphoricali'm really not going anywhere~stuck"Page 140Reading this legitimately made me angry。 Instead of actually making a metaphor, she just points out that there might be a metaphor in there somewhere。 She could've used the metaphor of her being a car & actually flushed out what that looks like。 If you take away the mention of the metaphor in this "poem" it loses nothing, so was it even worth writing it in the first place? This book is very much about heartbreak & healing which did make me cry when I read some of the poems。 While I related to some of her words, I still found that they lack depth。 。。。more
