Summary

We call them Bunnies because that is what they call each other。 Seriously。 Bunny。

Samantha Heather Mackey is an outsider in her small, highly selective MFA program at Warren University。 In fact, she is utterly repelled by the rest of her fiction writing cohort – a clique of unbearably twee rich girls who call each other 'Bunny'。

But then the Bunnies issue her with an invitation and Samantha finds herself inexplicably drawn to their front door, across the threshold, and down their rabbit hole。

Blending sharp satire with fairytale horror, Bunny is a spellbinding trip of a novel from one of fiction's most original new voices。

I want to be a writer like Samantha。 Bunny shows the joy and the burden of imaginative creation。 And I'm so very glad my preferred term of endearment for my kids is Bunny。 I thought I was going to have to change it, but there is no need。 It's so appropriate。 So appropriate。 So。 I want to be a writer like Samantha。 Bunny shows the joy and the burden of imaginative creation。 And I'm so very glad my preferred term of endearment for my kids is Bunny。 I thought I was going to have to change it, but there is no need。 It's so appropriate。 So appropriate。 So。 。。。more

I mean。 I liked the plot and the twists but I just didn’t enjoy reading it? It was too much of a drug trip for me to enjoy it。

That was every bit as strange as BookTubers suggested。 As much as I like odd books, what really made me decide to pick up Bunny despite the division it has sparked among readers is the amount of interpretations people seemed to suggest existed about what really happened and what it all means。 To be honest, I'm not 100% sure what I think。 I reread the ending and think back to all the little clues。。。 I can see so many possibilities。 I think we can all kind of pick an interpretation we like best an That was every bit as strange as BookTubers suggested。 As much as I like odd books, what really made me decide to pick up Bunny despite the division it has sparked among readers is the amount of interpretations people seemed to suggest existed about what really happened and what it all means。 To be honest, I'm not 100% sure what I think。 I reread the ending and think back to all the little clues。。。 I can see so many possibilities。 I think we can all kind of pick an interpretation we like best and roll with it, to be honest。Perhaps above all, I can say this: I could not put this book down。 The only reasons I had to was so I could prepare for Christmas。 It's bizarre。 So bizarre。 So。 The writing suits its bizarreness。 It was so creepy in some moments; plus, there were moments when I was laughing out loud。 The way this satirizes the most pretentious aspects of fine arts academia was just incredible。Love it or hate it, most of us would not have the brain capacity to come up with something so original and layered。 I would definitely love to reread and annotate this one someday。 。。。more

Brilliant。 A touching story about loneliness and feeling isolated in social settings, and yet, Bunny made me laugh out loud multiple times。 Mona Awad delivers such bright and interesting descriptions that I couldn’t help but highlight everything。 I didn’t expect the magical elements of the book and was pleasantly surprised by the author’s choice。 The plot was nothing like anything i had ever seen before, complex and very familiar。 I’ll definitely read another book of hers if I have the opportuni Brilliant。 A touching story about loneliness and feeling isolated in social settings, and yet, Bunny made me laugh out loud multiple times。 Mona Awad delivers such bright and interesting descriptions that I couldn’t help but highlight everything。 I didn’t expect the magical elements of the book and was pleasantly surprised by the author’s choice。 The plot was nothing like anything i had ever seen before, complex and very familiar。 I’ll definitely read another book of hers if I have the opportunity to。 。。。more

👻👹🌷 The bunnies that get it, get it 🌷👹👻 and the bunnies that don't。。。 🪓I went into this book blind and I'm not going to lie, at the very beginning I found it super difficult to read。 The descriptions, the writing style; it felt really pretentious and forced and like it was trying so hard to be something。 ANOTHER book set at a another obscure yet super prestigious New England university? Like, how many are there, really? This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Reading this book is like going on a weird acid trip。 You bought the tab, it tastes a little funky in your mouth and you know you should probably spit it out but hell, you're this deep in so you may as well keep going。 Taking it at face value can cause conflicting feelings。 Everyone will interpret and explore it differently。 As someone who has bipolar and experiences schizophrenic tendencies, I found myself relating to Samantha at times。 The desperate clutch at reality before it slips away。 Voic Reading this book is like going on a weird acid trip。 You bought the tab, it tastes a little funky in your mouth and you know you should probably spit it out but hell, you're this deep in so you may as well keep going。 Taking it at face value can cause conflicting feelings。 Everyone will interpret and explore it differently。 As someone who has bipolar and experiences schizophrenic tendencies, I found myself relating to Samantha at times。 The desperate clutch at reality before it slips away。 Voices of reason that are just so far away that you question even those。 Everything us messy。。。it's scattered。。。it's chaos。 Moments where you just want to scream for some fucking clarity。 Samantha is struggling and she has created her own world of maladaptive daydreams that are so powerful that it is both impressive yet unsettling and no one really knows how to handle it。 We see this in the exchange with the Lion when he struggles to look at her after she has vented to him and "left her words all over his floor。"It's just one of those books that warps itself to your own interpretation。 That's pretty rare to find。 The author is a hell of a writer。 Do I love it? Do I hate it? I really don't know。 But regardless, it was a hell of an experience。 。。。more

Wtf did I just read? This book is a creepy and weird psychological horror trip on acid。 Bizarre!“JUST SAY IT。 TELL ME WHAT HAPPENED。 TELL ME WHAT THE FUCK THIS MEANS […]”This quote very accurately describes my feeling throughout the book。There were moments where I thought: Ah, I understand now。 But NO - I was wrong。 But: I like it。 As said before, it has the teen clique drama of ‘Mean Girls’, the strangeness of ‘The Vegetarian’, and the psychological horror of a film by Darren Aronofsky like ‘Mo Wtf did I just read?
