Summary

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 This book was so good。 I feel like they ended it well but at the same time I feel like they rushed the ending。 I really enjoyed this book。 Even though it was fantasy it still had some realistic parts which I like。 Mechthild Gläser is probably my favorite fantasy author。

Emma and her friend decided to tidy up an old room in the castle when Emma opened an old drawer and in it was the book it was very old and dusty and it had a figure on the front of it。 Emma thought it looked like a faun but she wasn't completely positive about it。 When she later starts to read the book she finds it to be more like a dairy but whose? She reads some of the entries and they date bad to when the castle was first being built。 She then realizes that their isn't just one person writing in this chronicle but multiple over time。 She decides that she was also going to add to the book so she then starts to write in the book and little did she know that whatever she wrote in the book comes true; sometimes it comes true right away and sometimes it takes a little while。 What sixteen year old girl wouldn't use this to her advantage? Emma also thinks she has feelings for a guy named Fredrick but then she realizes she has feelings for a different person。 At first she absolutely hates this guy and thinks he's a horrible person but she later grows to like him。 The guy she starts to have feelings for though is back in town under mysterious circumstances and she later uses the book to figure out what they are。 She finds out he's back in town looking for his twin sister that went missing at the school four years ago。 People say that Gina, his sister, must have drowned in a river or something but he doesn't believe them because they never found a body。 And little does Emma know that she isn't the only one who knows about the diary。 One day she walks into the west wing library, where she has a book club, and she finds that everything is trashed。 Since she found the diary in the west wing she thinks somebody may have been looking for it and she was absolutely right, but who? 。。。more

I really enjoyed this book, which I have started describing to friends as "Emma meets Pride and Prejudice, travels to Frankenstein's manor, and finds a book that is vaguely reminiscent of the diary of Tom Riddle。"In short, highly recommend to Jane Austen fans that also enjoy fantasy with strong world building and creative magic systems。 I really enjoyed this book, which I have started describing to friends as "Emma meets Pride and Prejudice, travels to Frankenstein's manor, and finds a book that is vaguely reminiscent of the diary of Tom Riddle。"In short, highly recommend to Jane Austen fans that also enjoy fantasy with strong world building and creative magic systems。 。。。more

Whenever I buy an unassuming book on a whim, they always seem to go onto become one of my favourite stories。 And this was no different!

✨ Review ✨Just finished this gem: The Forgotten Book by Mechthild Gläser。 I loved this book so much! It’s a cute fantasy YA novel inspired by Jane Austens Pride and Prejudice and Emma。The story is set at a castle in Germany。 I’m a sucker for anything historical, so this already drew me into the story as soon as I started reading it。 The story itself is about this girl -Emma- that finds a book with magical powers。 Not only the magical aspect was quite interesting, I also really enjoyed the cute y ✨ Review ✨Just finished this gem: The Forgotten Book by Mechthild Gläser。 I loved this book so much! The Forgotten Book was nice little escape back to high school days with a mix of fairy tales and mystery。

Great easy read! Really got hooked on the characters, wanted to read more。

This fantasy mashup of Jane Austen’s Emma and pride and prejudice is an easy and light read。 The details get a little muddy toward the end, as all the strands come together to complete the story。 Overall a meh: not bad, not great。 PG: Language: Some profanity; sex: condoms in a drawer, very light romance。

Wow! Let me just say, wow。 I have never read a book like this, and I have to say, I really enjoyed it。Okay, the reason I took 1 star off is because I didn't care much for the quality of the writing。 There were a lot of run-ons, unnecessary information, and parentheses。 At first, this annoyed me quite a bit, but then I got used to it and I started to enjoy it。 The plot was very unique。 It was about a girl who found a book。 And whatever you wrote in the book came true。 I know, I know, that does so Wow! I think I will check out more of your books。 :) 。。。more

I enjoyed the book。 It was fun and fast paced。 The bit of mystery and romance kept me interested。 I am a big fan of Pride and Prejudice and enjoyed the similarities。

I didn't realize when I started this book that it was a Pride and Prejudice retelling。 I wasn't a huge fan of that, but once I made it about 1/3 through the book the mystery of the book and the missing student really got going and it got a lot more interesting。 I didn't realize when I started this book that it was a Pride and Prejudice retelling。 I wasn't a huge fan of that, but once I made it about 1/3 through the book the mystery of the book and the missing student really got going and it got a lot more interesting。 。。。more

DNFLooks like I’ve been having quite a hard time with reading j’ai past week。 The book itself sounds really interesting and I am kind of interested to see where this goes, but I’m just not that invested。 I honestly don’t know what’s going on with me (maybe it’s a slump), but I’m DNFing this for now until I find interest in it。

This book was a fun read but definitely slow in some areas。 I was ready to move onto a new book when I came to the end, but it was a great book to read in between a series or other heavy reads you might be taking on。

Milá a příjemná kniha, ideální pro věk od dvanácti do šestnácti let。 Hlavní hrdinka i ostatní postavy překvapivě sympatické a rozumné, nebývá to vždycky zvykem。 Mělo to zajímavé rozuzlení a napínavé scény。

What would you do if you found a book that made what you wrote down come true? This book is a wonderful mix of fairy tales, mystery and teenage school drama。 I loved the twists and turns and would have never guessed on the outcome。 I loved the old castle turned school setting complete with ghost stories。

It’s been a while since a fiction book has gotten me glued to the pages trying to take in everything as fast as I can。 This book did it。 I couldn’t put it down! In my opinion, it’s a smoosh between Jane Austen’s Emma and Pride and Prejudice。 However, it has a unique fantastical mystery attached that really drew me in。 The romance is sweet, but it’s not really the focus of the story (and I kind of liked that)。 There’s minor swearing throughout but is otherwise a pretty clean read。

Adéla Badošková

Současná Jane Austenová (podobností s Pýchou a předsudkem byste tam našli spouuustu), urban fantasy a taky tak trochu krimi。。。。 fakt mě to bavilo😁😁

I adored the fantasy world and magic of The Book Jumper, but I just couldn't get into this one。 The writing felt much more juvenile and disjointed。 I'm tempted to try it in the original German and see if it's any better? I was surprised by how much I liked this book。 It is a combination of Emma and Pride and Prejudice, with a little bit of Northanger Abbey and some supernatural elements mixed in for good measure。 There are a lot of ways that could have gone wrong, but it worked。

I really enjoyed this book, I don't want to give to much away。 There are 2 characters that you don't know the identity of so I kept trying to guess who they were and then I was bummed when I was wrong about both lol。 The ending was kind of gift wrapped with the perfect ending which I typically hate but I didnt this time it actually worked。 So 5 stars would recommend。 I really enjoyed this book, I don't want to give to much away。 There are 2 characters that you don't know the identity of so I kept trying to guess who they were and then I was bummed when I was wrong about both lol。 The ending was kind of gift wrapped with the perfect ending which I typically hate but I didnt this time it actually worked。 So 5 stars would recommend。 。。。more

Abbi

A light P&P/Emma crossover with fantabulist elements, set in a German finishing school。 The mystery is intriguing, even sinister in atmosphere at times, and it was fun to pick out the adapted Austen details。

Rae

The ending was cute enough, but it took a good bit of slogging to really get into this story。

Suspenseful, fiction, fairy tales。 different than what I thought it would be。 Sometimes annoying school aged kids, but I also kind of liked the the story and wanted to finish and solve the mysteries! It wrapped up nicely, no cliffhangers。 Does have cussing and says Lord's name in vain- I'd say about pg or pg13。 Suspenseful, fiction, fairy tales。 different than what I thought it would be。 Sometimes annoying school aged kids, but I also kind of liked the the story and wanted to finish and solve the mysteries! ❇Pen's thoughts。。。 It was wonderful。 。 。I waited for over a year to read this novel and it was finally the right time。。。The Gothic atmosphere and ominous boarding school setting was such a delicious one to sink into。I never expected to walk in to this mysterious and suspenseful story involving a dangerously enchanted book created by monks hundreds of years ago and written in by lords, lady's and the common teenage girl。I kept trying to out wit the author by believing i could figure this mystery ❇Pen's thoughts。。。 It was wonderful。 。 。I waited for over a year to read this novel and it was finally the right time。。。The Gothic atmosphere and ominous boarding school setting was such a delicious one to sink into。I never expected to walk in to this mysterious and suspenseful story involving a dangerously enchanted book created by monks hundreds of years ago and written in by lords, lady's and the common teenage girl。I kept trying to out wit the author by believing i could figure this mystery before she could reveal it to me。 I failed。 I tried but I'm happy she won。 I thought this book would be one thing when I opened the front cover, but then。。。 I turned the first page and was completely taken by surprise! I found myself wanting to know not just what was written in the chronical or how it was or is going to come to life next, but Who wrote these entries and what their story's were。 I couldn't wait to see how the Jane Austen novel pride and prejudice would come to help build this story。 I wanted to know just how "Darcy", Darcy would be。 I loved finding out about Elinor Morland and the legends that echoed through the ancient castle walls! The boarding school drama between the students and teachers was nice however I would have preferred a bit more drama then we actually got but it wasn't disappointing at all。 I didn't quite feel for the choppiness of the story progression but since it gos from day to day life, I get it。 And there was never the Dun Dun! DUN!!!。。。 Ending。 Moment。 It was more like dun, wait a minute。 Dun, wait another minute。 And then it was more like a few satisfying conclusions and after that a couple nice tie ups。 So when it comes to the ending it was nice and good and I like what happened just not so much how it happened。 But despite everything the authors stunning, captivating, breath taking, imaginative, spellbinding, and all out AMAZING!!! story spinning ability saves every redundant word and unsmoth transition。 Its translated into English from German so its just a tad messy, but that's no big problem。Oh。。。 I hope you chose to pick this one up and don't by pass it just because of its few flaws。 its no doubt worth the read!I Highly Recommend It!Happy reading! 。。。more
