Summary

Alison McGhee and Peter H。 Reynolds’s #1 New York Times bestselling and beloved story of a mother’s love and dreams for her child is now available in a beautiful keepsake edition。

One day I counted your fingers and kissed each one。。。
Sometimes, when you sleep, I watch you dream, and I dream too—
That someday you will dive into the cool clear water of a lake。。。
Someday I will watch you brushing your child’s hair。。。
Someday。。。

A deceptively simple, powerful ode to the potential of love and the potential in life, Someday is the story of what every mother wishes for her child: a chance to live life at its fullest—to experience great joys, to stretch, to grow, to understand sorrow, to have a future…to have a someday。 This shimmering, achingly beautiful, and poignant tale—created by two great talents—takes this idea and turns it into something that will touch every reader。 Someday, now available in a gorgeous keepsake edition, is a story you’ll want to share with a special someone today and every day。

This book almost made me cry。 I do feel like this is less of a children's book and more of a mothers book。 It was beautifully written, and made me emotional and I don't even have children or necessarily want children。 It made me think of my own mother watching me grow up, and then in turn having to watch her grow old。 The illustrations were simple and pretty。 This book was heartwarming。 This book almost made me cry。 I do feel like this is less of a children's book and more of a mothers book。 It was beautifully written, and made me emotional and I don't even have children or necessarily want children。 It made me think of my own mother watching me grow up, and then in turn having to watch her grow old。 The illustrations were simple and pretty。 This book was heartwarming。 。。。more

I want to love this book but something about it just doesn’t hit me。 The illustrations are beautiful and the concept is very touching。 But idk。 I want to love it so bad but it doesn’t do anything for me。 😭

In simple text and illustrations, the story tells how a mother watches her baby girl grow up, leave the house and become a mom herself。 Love comes full circle。

There is no way that I will ever be able to read this book and not burst into tears。 Maybe I will have to share this with them when they are older, if they have kids of their own。

Beyond adorable。 I of course had to read this when I was already feeling emotional with how fast my babies are growing。 This book features the unconditional, undying love that a mother has for her baby, child, teen, adult, and older adult。 It features different ups and downs within life and always—Mom is there。 I can’t wait to give this to my kids。 This book would be a wonderful graduation, wedding, or baby shower book that highlights a special bond that will never be broken, even as life change Beyond adorable。 I of course had to read this when I was already feeling emotional with how fast my babies are growing。 This book features the unconditional, undying love that a mother has for her baby, child, teen, adult, and older adult。 It features different ups and downs within life and always—Mom is there。 I can’t wait to give this to my kids。 This book would be a wonderful graduation, wedding, or baby shower book that highlights a special bond that will never be broken, even as life changes and distance comes 。。。more

5 stars if you're looking for a five-alarm snotbomb。 Not actually a book for reading to children unless you need your tears to perform some kind of magical restorative on them。 5 stars if you're looking for a five-alarm snotbomb。 Not actually a book for reading to children unless you need your tears to perform some kind of magical restorative on them。 。。。more

The book is very emotional and nicely illustrated。But - my opinion - man, this is way overpriced!!!Has just a few pages, one small illustration for each double page and 2-3lines……It could have also shown a baby boy or baby girl - no, it’s clearly a daughter。。

This is a tender little book about a mom watching her child grow up。 A little sad at the end when it says someday your hair will glow with silver sun, and you will remember me。

This book is so sweet and touching。 I almost cried at the end, and I don't even have my own children! I would want this book to keep for myself as an adult and a mother, but I feel that children wouldn't appreciate if it were read to them。 Still, it is a very sweet book that I would like a copy to keep for myself or to give away to a teen who is graduating。 This book is so sweet and touching。 I almost cried at the end, and I don't even have my own children! Someday is a book about growing up and leaving home。 This book is told from the mother’s point of view。 She speaks the future of what will happen “someday” shortly for her daughter。 It all started when the baby was born, then the girl grows up into a toddler, pre-teenager, teenager, and then goes off to college and soon becomes a young adult with a daughter of her own。 At the beginning of every page, it says “someday” to represent the near future being told through the mother’s perspective。 This Someday is a book about growing up and leaving home。 This book is told from the mother’s point of view。 She speaks the future of what will happen “someday” shortly for her daughter。 It all started when the baby was born, then the girl grows up into a toddler, pre-teenager, teenager, and then goes off to college and soon becomes a young adult with a daughter of her own。 At the beginning of every page, it says “someday” to represent the near future being told through the mother’s perspective。 This is an example of repetition throughout the book。 McGhee has a few other books with the same concept of repetition。 It shows the readers how important the theme of the book is。 It is a powerful tool to use as an author/illustrator。 The book is empathetic but straightforward to show the bond between mother and daughter and how eventually, the baby bird needs to leave the mother’s nest to start her new life of somedays。 The book has beautiful illustrations of double-page spread full-bleed, cut-outs, and crossing over the gutter with text and images。 I selected this book for my author study of Alison McGhee because of how compelling it is。 It is a page-turner as well。 After every page says someday, it makes me want to read more and more。 I ask myself, what is the following near-future perspective that the mother will give to us on this next page? It provides this aspect and provokes emotions in readers because of the connection between mother and child。 This book can give the readers personal relationships to close family members or relatives。 。。。more

This was a beautiful story, probably really good to read to young kids (babies and toddlers) but I think the impact will be mostly for the adult rather than the child。 The illustrations were beautiful, the text was simple, and to a degree I do want to recommend it to others, I just don't know if my intention would be to recommend it to parent or child。 This was a beautiful story, probably really good to read to young kids (babies and toddlers) but I think the impact will be mostly for the adult rather than the child。 The illustrations were beautiful, the text was simple, and to a degree I do want to recommend it to others, I just don't know if my intention would be to recommend it to parent or child。 。。。more
