Summary

A true story from Raina Telgemeier, the #1 New York Times bestselling, multiple Eisner Award-winning author of SmileSistersDrama, and Ghosts

Raina wakes up one night with a terrible upset stomach。 Her mom has one, too, so it's probably just a bug。 Raina eventually returns to school, where she's dealing with the usual highs and lows: friends, not-friends, and classmates who think the school year is just one long gross-out session。 It soon becomes clear that Raina's tummy trouble isn't going away。。。 and it coincides with her worries about food, school, and changing friendships。 What's going on?

Raina Telgemeier once again brings us a thoughtful, charming, and funny true story about growing up and gathering the courage to face -- and conquer -- her fears。

The last book in the series, I would have probably enjoyed this more if I was younger, but it was the last book in the series I hadn't read。 The last book in the series, I would have probably enjoyed this more if I was younger, but it was the last book in the series I hadn't read。 。。。more

It really bothered A that this newest book took the main character back to 4th (?) grade, so it was almost like prequel, and it felt out of order to her。 As she said, “now that will always bug me”。 She loved the story and read it under three hours (3rd grade) - the same day we received it from Amazon!

4。5 Wonderful book。 Absolutely recommend for those working with young people with anxiety。 Telgemeier does a fantastic job of visually articulating her life with anxiety in a way that is relatable and fun (despite the topic)。 I laughed out loud several times reading this。 I also enjoyed seeing the growth of the main character (A young Telgemeier) and her LDI to the class at the end。 Finally, this book introduces rarely discussed topics, especially for kids, such as anxiety, therapy, etc。 The div 4。5 Wonderful book。 Absolutely recommend for those working with young people with anxiety。 Telgemeier does a fantastic job of visually articulating her life with anxiety in a way that is relatable and fun (despite the topic)。 I laughed out loud several times reading this。 I also enjoyed seeing the growth of the main character (A young Telgemeier) and her LDI to the class at the end。 Finally, this book introduces rarely discussed topics, especially for kids, such as anxiety, therapy, etc。 The diversity is just one more nice touch。 。。。more

I’ve been reading Guts by Raina Telgemeier at the recommendation of my daughters。 It’s a great read for tween girls and their parents who are interested in understanding Girl World (using Rosalind Wiseman’s term) a bit better。 The book follows a tween girl named Raina (it’s autobiographical) who learns to negotiate anxiety and puberty with help from a therapist, her weird parents, and her friends。 I enjoyed it。

Raina gets some problem with her stomach and she goes to the toilet every time and she also has the same problem as she。 After she goes to school it also brings her a big problem about it。 when she has class when she sleeps when she plays, her stomach got a problem it makes her very uncomfortable。 Also when she plays with her friend there is a lot of trouble in school and she is trying to solve this problem about her stomach but seen it is still in trouble。

When reading this book you really understand how Raina was feeling and what she was going through。 It is a really nice book for tweens or more mature audiences。 This is one of my shorter reviews but one of my favorite ones to write。 Mostly because this book is so pleasing that I have nothing bad to say about it。 So, I hope you enjoy reading this just as much as I。

Guts is written by one of my favorite authors, Raina telegimer, who ceases to amaze me。 All her books are very inspirational and heartfelt。 This graphic novel, though, was not her best work。 I feel that Raina was trying to teach a lesson, but she ends up teaching four different things in her book。 Usually, I like a clear theme and lesson in the book。tHer writing is always great, if you read Smile or any other of her books then you will know what I mean when I say that she is creative。 She expres Guts is written by one of my favorite authors, Raina telegimer, who ceases to amaze me。 All her books are very inspirational and heartfelt。 This graphic novel, though, was not her best work。 I feel that Raina was trying to teach a lesson, but she ends up teaching four different things in her book。 Usually, I like a clear theme and lesson in the book。tHer writing is always great, if you read Smile or any other of her books then you will know what I mean when I say that she is creative。 She expresses her thoughts very simply in her drawings, but they do so much to impact all readers of all ages。 tI never really knew what this story line would end up to be。。。and honestly I still don't really have a clue what she wanted with this graphic novel。 I did, however, think that she did a nice job with showing how she developed with her anxiety, and with her social life。 tI would give it three stars because the story line was confusing, but her artwork is always great, and so is her writing。 I would recommend this book for anyone who loves graphic novels, and is not afraid of seeing cartoon throw-up。 (Yes that is in there)。 I do think it was still an amazing read。 。。。more

My adorable, 8 year old niece let me borrow her copy of this book。 The story is emotional and relatable! The illustration is captivating。 I’m 23 years old and cried like a baby while reading it haha。

Angie

So good for girls to read。 You are not alone。 We all go through major turmoil。 Therapy is important。

Camille

I thought Guts was really good! I new I would like this one because I like the rest of her books!

I really enjoyed this book because it shows that overcoming your fears isn't that hard。 And the people that might bully you also have problems too。 Raina has to go to therapy for her fear of throwing up。 She is also dealing with a bully named Michelle。 Later on in the book, Raina finds out Michelle has stomach problems just like her。 They also have many other things in common。 She also learns that going to therapy isn't "weird" or much of a big deal。 I really enjoyed this book because it shows that overcoming your fears isn't that hard。 And the people that might bully you also have problems too。 Raina has to go to therapy for her fear of throwing up。 She is also dealing with a bully named Michelle。 Later on in the book, Raina finds out Michelle has stomach problems just like her。 They also have many other things in common。 She also learns that going to therapy isn't "weird" or much of a big deal。 。。。more

Pretty solid for what it was, I don’t want to rate it because I’m definitely a bit too old for this book but it was cute。 It’s more complex then the books I used to read in elementary school。

Started this a couple days ago and finished it。 Wish it was longer but it was really good。

The "Guts" by Raina Telgemeier。 The protagonist of this story is the author herself。 During the period described in the book, she seems to suffer from anxiety (probably)。 There are a lot of vomiting scenes inside, but fortunately I didn't watch it while eating。 But the author's description of feelings is great。 The "Guts" by Raina Telgemeier。 The protagonist of this story is the author herself。 During the period described in the book, she seems to suffer from anxiety (probably)。 There are a lot of vomiting scenes inside, but fortunately I didn't watch it while eating。 But the author's description of feelings is great。 。。。more

This author's books are such fun, easy reads。 Smile is still my favorite one, but this one was good too。 It was about Raina in 4th and 5th grade, so right before Smile。 Very sweet and fun! This book addresses an important conversation about how anxiety can manifest in different ways。 It is an encouragement to talk to someone you trust so that you can start getting the help you need。

Another home run for Telgemeier!!! I wish this book had been around when I was a kid! If your child (or you) has worries that get too big for her body, Guts will help her feel “not alone” and give her a couple strategies to try。

I related to so many little things about the author's life, her worries, her pains, her fears。 When I was a kid I didn't know it was "normal" to feel stomach pains because I was worried or afraid of something, didn't know anything about anxiety and how it affected my body and my life。 It feels nice to see myself in someone else's story。 I related to so many little things about the author's life, her worries, her pains, her fears。 When I was a kid I didn't know it was "normal" to feel stomach pains because I was worried or afraid of something, didn't know anything about anxiety and how it affected my body and my life。 It feels nice to see myself in someone else's story。 。。。more
