Summary

The #1 New York Times bestselling author presents a new novel of a mother and a daughter, of ambition and romance, and of a traumatic past reawakened by a terrifying threat…

Adrian Rizzo was seven when she met her father for the first time。 That was the day he nearly killed her—before her mother, Lina, stepped in。

Soon after, Adrian was dropped off at her grandparents’ house in Maryland, where she spent a long summer drinking lemonade, playing with dogs, making a new best friend—and developing the stirrings of a crush on her friend’s ten-year-old brother。 Lina, meanwhile, traveled the country promoting her fitness brand and turning it into a billion-dollar business。 There was no point in dwelling on the past。

A decade later, Adrian has created her own line of yoga and workout videos, following in Lina’s footsteps but intent on maintaining creative control。 And she’s just as cool-headed and ambitious as her mother。 They aren’t close, but they’re cordial—as long as neither crosses the other。

But while Lina dismisses the death threats that Adrian starts getting as a routine part of her daughter’s growing celebrity, Adrian can’t help but find the vicious rhymes unsettling。 Year after year, they keep arriving—the postmarks changing, but the menacing tone the same。 They continue after she returns to Maryland and becomes reacquainted with Raylan, her childhood crush, all grown up and as gorgeously green-eyed as ever。 Sometimes it even seems like the terrifying messages are indeed routine, like nothing will come of them。 Until the murders start, and the escalation begins…

I was not ready for this book to end, even though it is already quite the long book。 I do have a couple questions left unanswered but that is always the outcome to a really good book。 Nora will always be one of my favorites and I can wait for the next book a choose from her collection!

Mystery and romance。 Not bad for a summer read。 My first by Nora。

It’s been awhile since I’ve read a Nora Roberts book and I enjoyed this one! I really enjoyed Adrain and her relationships with her friends, the storyline with her Mom and biological father, and of course the solidarity with her grandparents。 It was interesting and fun and of course Raylan was a great addition。Fun!

I loved this story! ❤️

I really enjoyed reading this book, it was my first one from Nora Roberts。 It always kept me wondering what was gonna happen next。

hmmm。。。。i really wanted to like this more than i did。 the first half of the novel was too slow and too fast at the same time, and i think too many points of view were included without any sort of pattern to them。

A great romantic suspense story。

To me this one had a little bit of both suspense and romance。 I am also usually a fast reader but for some reason, this book took me longer than normal to read this type of book。 So for that reason I am only giving it a 3 star。 Otherwise I'd have given it a 4 as I am pretty easy going on my personal ratings。 To me this one had a little bit of both suspense and romance。 I am also usually a fast reader but for some reason, this book took me longer than normal to read this type of book。 So for that reason I am only giving it a 3 star。 Otherwise I'd have given it a 4 as I am pretty easy going on my personal ratings。 。。。more

The suspense is quite predictable and the book is filled with mind numbing chores of the characters instead of an actual storyline。 The characters are cheesy and so full of themselves。 Should have shelved this one but kept hoping it will get better。 It never did。 The best part of this book was finally getting to finish it。

I thought this book was very interesting。 Was fairly well written。 It kept my interest throughout。 Characters were well described。

Enjoyable easy read。 Took me a WHILE to get through it (a month🫣)though。 … I normally read a book within 4 days or so。 But that said, I still enjoyed it。 Lots of suspense! Some things super cliche but still cute/good。 I would recommend giving it a try and see what you think🤓

Thank goodness this was a library loan read for me。 I didn’t read synopsis and was hoping for a good Roberts romance。 I got an easy-to-predict serial murder book with a side of bland Romance compartmentalized with fitness/nutrition and comic fandom/Star Wars/StarTrek/Batman。 The long build-up story with 20 unnecessary supporting characters thrown in…。the too long play of the killer waxing on about how women are whores who are at fault for extra marital affairs as he kills each one or celebrates his murder …。。actually wondering if the author was going to lead us through killing all 34 women on that kill list while the main character got her own DVD line, sports apparel line, fitness tool line, blog, comic book character, comic book series about her, boyfriend, grandparents restaurant, red sauce secret recipe, home, youth center while she fit in carnivals/girls nights/shopping spree with boyfriend’s daughter, inspiring all of her friends to move close to her, work for her in some way and repair strained relationship with her mom/garden make her smoothies, get a workout in and …。。(yes, it is THAT long!!!!!!Then you have the school shootings scene where the teacher saves her student with sacrificing her own life……and with a references also to the horrible 2007 incident at Va Tech shooting…。。 I finished it but I clearly picked the wrong book for a light vacation read…。It felt too parallel to what is happening right now in the real world with school shooting and anti-women 。。。more

It was enjoyable and I finished it but it drug out in places。 Everyone was perfect and witty and said the right things。 Everything worked out。 Everybody is happy and set in life and gets along great。 Early on I correctly guessed the nature of the killer。 It’s all pretty vanilla but the characters are still entertaining。 It was a beach read for me and did well in that capacity。

。。。more

I was gifted this book and not being my normal genre and not having anything in line to read I thought I'd give it a try。 I wasn't hooked straight away and if something better had come along I would have shelved it。 On the third chapter I felt there was a good chance I could like the book。 I did。 I even read it in work during breaks。 The ending was not rushed and was a happy one。 I was gifted this book and not being my normal genre and not having anything in line to read I thought I'd give it a try。 I wasn't hooked straight away and if something better had come along I would have shelved it。 On the third chapter I felt there was a good chance I could like the book。 I did。 I even read it in work during breaks。 The ending was not rushed and was a happy one。 。。。more

This was my first Nora Roberts’ book。 I so loved her writing! It was like I was enjoying a movie in my head。 The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was that it was predictable…even so I loved the characters so much!

Might just be one of the best books I have ever read!

A very enjoyable summer read。 The characters were interesting。 There was some violence but not too much。 Overall I really enjoyed this book。

The more recent a Nora Roberts romantic suspense was published, the more chance I'll love it。 This one is about Adrian, the daughter of a woman who starts up a fitness empire, and how she finds romance and deals with her own personal stalker。 Not only did it have things that I love with Nora Roberts (small towns, good friends, adorable dogs, the plot following the characters through the years) but she also changed a lot of things I've had problems with her books in the past。 Adrian's mother wasn The more recent a Nora Roberts romantic suspense was published, the more chance I'll love it。 This one is about Adrian, the daughter of a woman who starts up a fitness empire, and how she finds romance and deals with her own personal stalker。 Not only did it have things that I love with Nora Roberts (small towns, good friends, adorable dogs, the plot following the characters through the years) but she also changed a lot of things I've had problems with her books in the past。 Adrian's mother wasn't the perfect mother but she also wasn't made into an irredeemable monster。 The relationship between Lina and Adrian was so interesting and I love the scene of them in the kitchen after certain events happened。 The romance itself was a slow burn and it starts off with the two of them being friends first。 I did find it funny that I could tell what was going to happen to the guy's wife because Adrian got together with him。 Since Adrian liked her at her introduction, I knew she would die because I've read enough NR to know that。 The thriller part of the book was nicely done too, though I wish we could have gotten more of a justification for the murder and stalking which wasn't just 'they're insane' because nope。 I liked how we didn't know who it was until near the end, despite getting excerpts from the killer's POV。 The P。I。 character was also very fun。 Definitely one of my favourites of Nora Roberts。 4 stars! 。。。more

Strong female protagonists is the trademark of Nora roberts’ stand-alone novels and this doesn’t disappoint- although her previous standalones had the ability to surprise while the past couple don’t as much I’d say。

4。25⭐️Sadie and Jasper made this story even better!😁I like Adrian and Raylan together but I feel like they got engaged way to quickly especially considering he was married and his wife died。 But still I really liked it and I did cry at times and smiled a lot!
