Summary

Indigo Best Teen Books of 2021

Jenny's never had much time for boys, K-pop, or really anything besides her dream of being a professional cellist。 But when she finds herself falling for a K-pop idol she has to decide whether their love is worth the risk。 A modern forbidden romance wrapped in the glamorous and exclusive world of K-pop, XOXO is perfect for fans of Jenny Han and Maurene Goo。

Jenny didn't get to be an award-winning, classically trained cellist without choosing practice over fun。 That is, until the night she meets Jaewoo。 Mysterious, handsome, and just a little bit tormented, Jaewoo is exactly the kind of distraction Jenny would normally avoid。 And yet, she finds herself pulled into spending an unforgettable evening wandering Los Angeles with him on the night before his flight home to South Korea。

With Jaewoo an ocean away, there's no use in dreaming of what could have been。 But when Jenny and her mother move to Seoul to take care of her ailing grandmother, who does she meet at the elite arts academy she's just been accepted to? Jaewoo。

Finding the dreamy stranger who swept you off your feet in your homeroom is one thing, but Jaewoo isn't just any student。 Turns out, Jaewoo is a member of one of the biggest K-pop bands in the world。 And like most K-pop idols, Jaewoo is strictly forbidden from dating anyone

When a relationship means not only jeopardizing her place at her dream music school but also endangering everything Jaewoo's worked for, Jenny has to decide once and for all just how much she's willing to risk for love。 XOXO is a new romance that proves chasing your dreams doesn't have to mean sacrificing your heart, from acclaimed author Axie Oh。

there's not much negative things to say because I really love the story and it did make me tear up quite a bit but I felt like there should have been more added to the story at the end, the ending was just a bit rushed and the last karaoke part what they said and what happened, there should have been a second part to it that's all。 apart from that I loved it and i neeeed a second book to this there's not much negative things to say because I really love the story and it did make me tear up quite a bit but I felt like there should have been more added to the story at the end, the ending was just a bit rushed and the last karaoke part what they said and what happened, there should have been a second part to it that's all。 apart from that I loved it and i neeeed a second book to this 。。。more

For context I am from an English speaking Asian country and we watch quite a bit of K-dramas。 Especially rom-coms! Finished it in one night。 Was a very easy read but very yournamexidol-esque。 Everyone loves as a friend or is in love with Jenny apparently。 It was a cute, enjoyable read but very cliche。 But I'm a sucker for cliches。 Finished it in one night。 Was a very easy read but very yournamexidol-esque。 Everyone loves as a friend or is in love with Jenny apparently。 It was a cute, enjoyable read but very cliche。 But I'm a sucker for cliches。 。。。more

When talented cellist Jenny meets Jaewoo, she doesn't know he's a rising KPOP star; he's just a kind, thoughtful, attractive stranger who wanders into her uncle's karaoke bar in Los Angeles one evening。 When she gets the chance to reunite with him at a music school in Seoul, that brief meeting morphs into a beautiful friendship 。。。 but their romance has to remain a secret, or Jaewoo's career will be in jeopardy。This book was just plain fun!

I loved that Jenny had a sense of humor。 I love that XOXO and her Korean friends were kind and down to earth。 I gave this book four stars because I cringed a few times at Jenny’s corny jokes。 But overall, I liked it a lot。

“Not everything has to be done for a reason。 Sometimes you just do things for the fun of it"Review✨️ This book is about jenny, a cellist who is perfect, but she lacks that spark to be extraordinary so one day while searching for her spark she met a mysterious boy jaewoo, who seems desolate, who looks rich but don't even have money to pay for extra min of karaoke。 She challenges him to a karaoke battle just to find out he is king of vocals。 Then after spending an adventurous night with him where “Not everything has to be done for a reason。 Sometimes you just do things for the fun of it"Review✨️ This book is about jenny, a cellist who is perfect, but she lacks that spark to be extraordinary so one day while searching for her spark she met a mysterious boy jaewoo, who seems desolate, who looks rich but don't even have money to pay for extra min of karaoke。 She challenges him to a karaoke battle just to find out he is king of vocals。 Then after spending an adventurous night with him where they run away from thugs, explore Korea town and try to know about each other a little that boy disappears she tried to contact him but no luck。 Later story unfolds and life takes a 180° turn for jenny where she finds herself in Korea。 In a world of K-pop, she found out the boy she was looking for is no-one else but a famous K-pop star。 A love story between a cellist and K-pop star means both of them, comprising their careers。 Read this book to find out what challenges they face for their careers and love。 Along with love story, it is a story of friendship too。TBH, I love this book。 It was my comfort book。 story is so cute and simple。 I love every chapter of it。 It is the kind of story that one should read on their gloomy days。 It can uplift your mood immediately。 For me as a K-pop fan it was whole another experience I love every detail explain here and that sense of familiarity I felt while reading it like I know this, I know Korea, I know this place, I know K-pop culture。 And did I tell you jaewoo was exactly like jungkook。 He kept on reminding me of jungkook throughout the story。it was perfect dose of romcom kdrama except that it is not on-screen, and you let your mind imagine and picture those scenes and emotions as you feel them along。After a long time, I have read such a wholesome romance。 If you love romance books without smut, I'm confident this book is perfect for you。 。。。more

This book was sweet and innocent。 The plot could have used some help--there were characters who were virtually meaningless, plot points that came to nothing in the end, and parts of the story that were hurried over too quickly。 One of my longstanding gripes with romance novels is manufactured crises at the end, and this book avoided that。 The looming crisis between Jenny and Jaewoo was obvious from the beginning, and so when it actually occurred, it made sense。 But then the ending was too abrupt This book was sweet and innocent。 The plot could have used some help--there were characters who were virtually meaningless, plot points that came to nothing in the end, and parts of the story that were hurried over too quickly。 One of my longstanding gripes with romance novels is manufactured crises at the end, and this book avoided that。 The looming crisis between Jenny and Jaewoo was obvious from the beginning, and so when it actually occurred, it made sense。 But then the ending was too abrupt, without enough catharsis。 I loved this peek into both Korean American culture and Korean culture。 The author did a good job of integrating information about Korean culture into the story。 This was not the most gripping book, but I was never bored, and it was an enjoyable read。 。。。more
