Summary

Gabimaru is a ninja on death row with one chance to see his wife again—by finding the elixir of immortality on a supernatural island and delivering it to the shogun。 Standing in his way are his fellow convicts and the fearsome beasts that roam the island, devouring or killing anyone they encounter。 In addition, Gabimaru must contend with sinister beings who have lived on the island for several lifetimes, tinkering and experimenting on humans and the local fauna to further the goals of their dark sciences。 Who are these otherworldly individuals that rule this beautiful and deadly place? And how can Gabimaru possibly stand against them?

Semplicemente incredibile。 Molto avvincente, adoro i disegni e la caratterizzazione dei personaggi。

Okay I know the story established no one was safe from death but they did my boy dirty here and his death made me fucking HURT。 So this is basically two character sets we're following。 Asaemon with the young girl as his criminal and then of course Gabimaru and his crew。 And while Gabimaru and his crew seem more of a quiet arc till the final major fight, it's Asaemon, his mentor Shion, and criminal verse a demon like creature who can change appearance and is nearly invincible。 This is super charg Okay I know the story established no one was safe from death but they did my boy dirty here and his death made me fucking HURT。 So this is basically two character sets we're following。 Asaemon with the young girl as his criminal and then of course Gabimaru and his crew。 And while Gabimaru and his crew seem more of a quiet arc till the final major fight, it's Asaemon, his mentor Shion, and criminal verse a demon like creature who can change appearance and is nearly invincible。 This is super charged volume with such awesome fights, sad deaths, and a new status quo by the end that I'm really starting to love this series。 I'm sure excited to see this animated and hoping they do it justice because this is fantastic。 Characters are interesting, deaths are shocking, and pacing is near perfect。 Give me more please。 。。。more

Still very much intrigued by this story。 In this volume we meet some new characters, say goodbye to some old ones, and get a few more glimpses into what Gabimaru’s life was like with his wife。 He seems awfully young to be married and at first glance, doesn’t look like the ‘marriage’ type so I like that what’s driving him to find the elixir is his wife。 I’m very interested in seeing more of what this panel/group of judges watching Gabimaru and the others are up to。 I also appreciate the relations Still very much intrigued by this story。 In this volume we meet some new characters, say goodbye to some old ones, and get a few more glimpses into what Gabimaru’s life was like with his wife。 He seems awfully young to be married and at first glance, doesn’t look like the ‘marriage’ type so I like that what’s driving him to find the elixir is his wife。 I’m very interested in seeing more of what this panel/group of judges watching Gabimaru and the others are up to。 I also appreciate the relationship being formed between Sagiri and Gabimaru。 I’m not saying it’s going to turn out romantically, but it’s clear they are starting to care for eachother。 Volume 4 here I come !! 。。。more

Adding to the plot, this volume introduces more characters and explains a bit more about the Elixir of Life。 Sadly we can’t get attached to too many characters as they seem to die off pretty quickly, and this is moving fast。 I hope it doesn’t move TOO fast because the plot is getting more interesting and I really like the characters and their designs。 Really enjoying this so far though!

This volume was fantastic! The fights, the losses, the lore we continue to learn about the island and the beings that it inhabits。 It all came together to create a great volume。 I can't wait to continue this series to see where these characters go from here on out。 This volume was fantastic! Okay, this volume gets five stars PURELY for that epic fight between Gabimaru and the one Lord Tensen! Holy shit, that fight was INTENSE! And it really showed off what a threat the Lord Tensen are, but our fave convicts aren't slackers either (and THANK YOU, Chobe and Toma are safe! Thank you for sparing my babies!)。But honestly, the rest of the volume was just as good。 Great action, nice worldbuilding, fun character interactions, scenes that kicked me in the feels, all good stuff! Gender is oddly a major part of this series and I'm interested in analyzing this prevailing theme and why it's so prominent。 Obviously I have to wait until I read more, but I'm looking forward to it。Not much to say, just a really fun and bombastic volume。 Can't wait to see more awesome fights between the convicts and the Lord Tensen! 。。。more

Still digging the weirdness of this, so I'm definitely digging into Vol。 4 while the digitals are on sale。 We get a little more on the mystery of the island, which only raises more questions。 I do feel like it's moving kind of fast plot-wise, but I'm hoping that's because there is a lot more going on that we haven't even gotten close to learning about yet。 Still digging the weirdness of this, so I'm definitely digging into Vol。 4 while the digitals are on sale。 We get a little more on the mystery of the island, which only raises more questions。 I do feel like it's moving kind of fast plot-wise, but I'm hoping that's because there is a lot more going on that we haven't even gotten close to learning about yet。 。。。more

Probably going to drop this series, I like it but not enough to want to spend $20+ for each volume。

*received an ARC from VIZ via Netgalley for an honest review*In the third volume, we learn more about the paradise and what is going on with the plants and insects。 Like volume 2, I was confused who’s backstory we were learning about。 We do learn more about Sagari and her strengths and weaknesses。 I feel she is a believable character in the world this mangaka has created。 If you like horror, I definitely recommend as the art is quite spectacular and the characters are interesting。 Although it is *received an ARC from VIZ via Netgalley for an honest review*In the third volume, we learn more about the paradise and what is going on with the plants and insects。 Like volume 2, I was confused who’s backstory we were learning about。 We do learn more about Sagari and her strengths and weaknesses。 I feel she is a believable character in the world this mangaka has created。 If you like horror, I definitely recommend as the art is quite spectacular and the characters are interesting。 Although it is a little confusing, it is still really interesting and I am curious as to what will happen next。 。。。more

This series has gotten better and better with each volume! I'm really loving Gabimaru and the flashbacks with his wife。 I also really like the friendship thats clearly starting between Gabimaru and Sagiri。 The only issue I have is some of the action scenes kind of lose me and I just can't figure out whats suppose to be going on。 This series has gotten better and better with each volume! The story keeps getting better。 We have finally met the big players and I’m excited to see how they fit in with the story。 I’m also increasingly more intrigued with this world。 As I learn more, the story continues to pull me in。 Will definitely be looking for more books in this series!ARC provided by Netgalley in exchange for an honest review。

Just when you think you understand the island, more dead bodies with flowers growing in the remains liter the island!Gabimaru's story begins to develop more as he challenges even stronger monsters and Gods。 With fewer criminals left on the island, plots begin to intertwine and developed a clear path。 The gore is what readers should expect from the series。 If anything, it was less graphic。 There was minor female nudity which makes the series more appropriate for older crowds。 Looking forward to t Just when you think you understand the island, more dead bodies with flowers growing in the remains liter the island!Gabimaru's story begins to develop more as he challenges even stronger monsters and Gods。 With fewer criminals left on the island, plots begin to intertwine and developed a clear path。 The gore is what readers should expect from the series。 If anything, it was less graphic。 There was minor female nudity which makes the series more appropriate for older crowds。 Looking forward to the next volume! 。。。more

Dives deeper into the mystery of the island。 All the while delivering stunt illustrations and a original story that is sure to capture the readers interest。 Things get really tense in this installment as we find out the humans maybe more than ordinary。

Thanks to Net Galley for providing me with an e-copy in exchange for a review。Another great volume in this series。 Starting to delve a little further into the mystery of the island, and the creatures that reside on it。Plenty of ass kicking ensued in this volume, unfortunately with some casualties that I was pretty gutted about as I was hoping to get to know the characters more。 However, I'm excited to see where the next volume takes me with that ending! 2。5 starsThe story is rushed yet boring, pretty orignal yet all seen and done before and after 3 volumes I still don't give a damn about any of the characters。Unless someone wants to offer me the rest of the series, I'm gonna stop right there, even though the ending sparked some sort of interest, I feel like it is just a regular Shonen manga but with much more graphic content。MEH。 2。5 starsThe story is rushed yet boring, pretty orignal yet all seen and done before and after 3 volumes I still don't give a damn about any of the characters。Unless someone wants to offer me the rest of the series, I'm gonna stop right there, even though the ending sparked some sort of interest, I feel like it is just a regular Shonen manga but with much more graphic content。MEH。 。。。more
