Overall - 8。5/10Sunreach - 8。5/10 ReDawn - 7。5/10Evershore - 9/10 The novellas are a great way to spend more time on otherwise overlooked characters, and in this case to fill in some gaps that the original narrative only implies due to the limitations of the character viewpoint in which they follow。

Also I likes the Kitsen especially Juno, but I did find them a bit lacking。 Overall I find that this one was pretty good, in the middle of Sunreach and ReDawn for enjoyment。I’m excited for the Defiant to come out! 。。。more

I really enjoyed getting all these diff perspectives of the story! Honestly I missed these characters so much especially bc we can’t see them in the current books that came out recently in the series。 The story was done well, and the battle scenes were done perfectly and written so well that I could truly imagine everything going on。

This collection was so good! I loved seeing what was going on with skyward flight during book three!!

It was super cool to be able to read from these other characters' perspectives! I also quite liked reading the deleted scenes at the end and the reasons why they didn't make it to the final version。 It was super cool to be able to read from these other characters' perspectives! Yeah, this was a lot of fun。 I do like Spensa as a central character, but ultimately this series has the most fun when it is throwing chaos around, and having more characters front and centre only adds to that。 (I didn't dislike Cytonic, but it certainly didn't have the energy of the previous books)。 Nice to get insider viewpoints on a few of the other characters, plus actually I enjoyed getting to know a few other characters better in how they were seen through eyes other than Spensa's (Rig and Yeah, this was a lot of fun。 I do like Spensa as a central character, but ultimately this series has the most fun when it is throwing chaos around, and having more characters front and centre only adds to that。 (I didn't dislike Cytonic, but it certainly didn't have the energy of the previous books)。 Nice to get insider viewpoints on a few of the other characters, plus actually I enjoyed getting to know a few other characters better in how they were seen through eyes other than Spensa's (Rig and Arturo in particular)。And wow the last few sections do set up an exciting continuation of the series going forward。。。。 yes。 More of this please。 。。。more

Aargh, it has pictures! I love how Brandon Sanderson includes pictures and diagrams in so many of his books。 It makes them just that little bit more special to read。 This is admittedly purporting to be three novellas, but it is just one book cut into three sections, each told from a different character’s POV。 They each pick up immediately where the prior one left off and are part of the overarching tale of what Skyflight is going through while Spensa is off exploring。 It’s a little weird that th Aargh, it has pictures! I love the taynix, so I see this as a great selling point。 Though I want to know what they all do now。 There are some deleted scenes at the end with commentary。 It’s interesting to see where this could have gone and the reasoning behind the changes。 Nothing earth shattering, but interesting nonetheless。 。。。more

I liked how it went more in depth about the slugs and expanded on some of the characters。 I don’t often read the short stories, but I’m glad I did。

So apart from the fact this book took me 9 days to read I actually really enjoyed it, I thought the first novella was the strongest followed by Re-dawn and the Evershore。 I liked that we got a bit more of the side characters stories but I really missed Spensa throughout, the series is nothing without her。 Really enjoyed this bind up and it made up for how Cytonic ended

What more can I say except that I loved this collection so much! It’s more action-packed and massive in scope than the narrative laid in Cytonic。 This book gives you the happenings outside Spensa’s hero-structured story, as we follow FM, Alanik, and Jorgen and their respective space quests and battles。I also admire the additional content, such as the deleted drafts and their corresponding commentaries。 You’d realize, after reading them, how awesome Sanderson auto-edited his work, the process and What more can I say except that I loved this collection so much! Absolutely superb。 I read these 3 novellas with the full novel Cytonic in between 2 and 3 as per the authors advice。 I’ll be honest, I actually preferred these to the full novel。 All 3 were gripping and allowed for some much needed character development for some of the members of Skyward flight。 Whilst I do enjoy Spensa it’s really nice to focus on other characters for a change。 All three flow into one another so you could easily read this as it’s own slightly segmented story。 I hope we get more Absolutely superb。 I read these 3 novellas with the full novel Cytonic in between 2 and 3 as per the authors advice。 I’ll be honest, I actually preferred these to the full novel。 All 3 were gripping and allowed for some much needed character development for some of the members of Skyward flight。 Whilst I do enjoy Spensa it’s really nice to focus on other characters for a change。 All three flow into one another so you could easily read this as it’s own slightly segmented story。 I hope we get more in the future。 。。。more

Well, what a great book(s) to accompany the 3rd book in the series (Cytonic)。 I thoroughly enjoyed reading every single novella (but they were also joined in a way)。 I loved getting to know FM, Alanik, and, Jorgen more, and I think the 4th book in the series will be even more enjoyable because of that。 I can't even find anything bad to say about these books (besides the ending of the 3rd one maybe, but then, maybe it is realistic?)。 Anyways, I'd recommend them to anyone reading the Skyward serie Well, what a great book(s) to accompany the 3rd book in the series (Cytonic)。 I thoroughly enjoyed reading every single novella (but they were also joined in a way)。 I loved getting to know FM, Alanik, and, Jorgen more, and I think the 4th book in the series will be even more enjoyable because of that。 I can't even find anything bad to say about these books (besides the ending of the 3rd one maybe, but then, maybe it is realistic?)。 Anyways, I'd recommend them to anyone reading the Skyward series as a must-read。 。。。more

You can tell this was majority written by "Janci Patterson" than "Brandon Sanderson" as things didnt seem to flow as well and there was some forced relationship/character development that seemed to fast and quintessential to the plot。 Personally Spensa as a character is strong enough on her own to not need a love interest let alone "jerkface" plus he is much to bland and a polar opposite that it doesnt reallt make sense。 Overal not the best and definitely needed flushing out and bits removed as You can tell this was majority written by "Janci Patterson" than "Brandon Sanderson" as things didnt seem to flow as well and there was some forced relationship/character development that seemed to fast and quintessential to the plot。 Personally Spensa as a character is strong enough on her own to not need a love interest let alone "jerkface" plus he is much to bland and a polar opposite that it doesnt reallt make sense。 Overal not the best and definitely needed flushing out and bits removed as it just didnt connect 。。。more

I absolutely loved this trilogy of short stories。 After Sunreach, I thought “Wow, this is going to be so good!” And then after ReDawn, I thought “Wow, this is even better!” But then, after Evershore, “Wow, this is my new favorite story!” These stories were so amazing to read after being pulled away from great characters in Starsight。 I was also so, so curious about Alanik, and Janci and Brandon definitely did her justice。

A great edition to the Skyward series。 I loved diving back into this world and getting POV's from the different characters we've been introduced to。 I enjoyed each novella and was glad to learn more about some of the other species and more about the other 'Doomslugs'。 The illustrations were amazing as usual。 A great edition to the Skyward series。 I loved diving back into this world and getting POV's from the different characters we've been introduced to。 I enjoyed each novella and was glad to learn more about some of the other species and more about the other 'Doomslugs'。 The illustrations were amazing as usual。 。。。more

A fun read and a nice exploration of the Skyward universe, but the overall story fell a little flat。Note, these are three companion novellas that happen at the same time as Cytonic and can be read before/during/after for more context。 I appreciated each of the stories and they were all fun reads, but they sometimes felt a little unpolished or I was sometimes confused about exactly what was happening/the goal。 Jorgen’s progression felt a bit fast and then his ending played into a YA trope that I A fun read and a nice exploration of the Skyward universe, but the overall story fell a little flat。Note, these are three companion novellas that happen at the same time as Cytonic and can be read before/during/after for more context。 I appreciated each of the stories and they were all fun reads, but they sometimes felt a little unpolished or I was sometimes confused about exactly what was happening/the goal。 Jorgen’s progression felt a bit fast and then his ending played into a YA trope that I deeply dislike (frankly, I’m not sure I would have liked the ending even if Sanderson had written it (view spoiler)[I can't stand the YA trope of a teenager suddenly leading the rebellion (hide spoiler)])。Recommended for people who have read the first two Skyward books。 If you liked those you’ll like these。 Also, even if they are companion pieces, a lot of things happen that seem pretty crucial to book 4, so I don’t think these are that optional。 。。。more

Sunreach 5/5: Sunreach is probably my favorite of the three short stories, and it felt in many ways a return to form of what I really loved in the first book of the series。 FM served as a great viewpoint to look in on the events of Detrius while Spin is out and about。 She was a great character to explore and lacked some of Spesna's more irritating traits。 In addition I liked seeing the ingenuity of the human characters back in the base and the fight for survival they were still dealing with。ReDa Sunreach 5/5: Sunreach is probably my favorite of the three short stories, and it felt in many ways a return to form of what I really loved in the first book of the series。 FM served as a great viewpoint to look in on the events of Detrius while Spin is out and about。 She was a great character to explore and lacked some of Spesna's more irritating traits。 In addition I liked seeing the ingenuity of the human characters back in the base and the fight for survival they were still dealing with。ReDawn 5/5: ReDawn is a great follow up for Sunreach。 Switching to the viewpoint of Alanik really was a great way to contrast with the humans experience。 Alanik's views and desire to fight for independence vs the war weariness of the human characters was an excellent contrast。 In addition the exploration of the Alien planet and the politics there。 Evershore 4/5: Evershore is my least favorite of the three。 Jorgan is in a rough spot following the events of ReDawn, and is struggling to figure out what to do。 I think it would have benefited from seeing more of the inside of his head from before。 His struggle to hold it together is interesting but it would benefit from a greater degree of contrast。 I do always like seeing more of the Kitsen though so that was a plus, and the ending really feels strong going forward to the next novel。The deleted scenes from the mainline novels were interesting, and I enjoyed the insight offered by Brandon's commentary。 。。。more
