Summary

#1 New York Times bestselling master of suspense Dean Koontz takes a surprising and exhilarating road trip with a man in pursuit of his strange past―mile by frightening mile。

Quinn Quicksilver was born a mystery―abandoned at three days old on a desert highway in Arizona。 Raised in an orphanage, never knowing his parents, Quinn had a happy if unexceptional life。 Until the day of “strange magnetism。” It compelled him to drive out to the middle of nowhere。 It helped him find a coin worth a lot of money。 And it practically saved his life when two government agents showed up in the diner in pursuit of him。 Now Quinn is on the run from those agents and who knows what else, fleeing for his life。

During a shoot-out at a forlorn dude ranch, he finally meets his destined companions: Bridget Rainking, a beauty as gifted in foresight as she is with firearms, and her grandpa Sparky, a romance novelist with an unusual past。 Bridget knows what it’s like to be Quinn。 She’s hunted, too。 The only way to stay alive is to keep moving。

Barreling through the Sonoran Desert, the formidable trio is impelled by that same inexplicable magnetism toward the inevitable。 With every deeply disturbing mile, something sinister is in the rearview―an enemy that is more than a match for Quinn。 Even as he discovers within himself resources that are every bit as scary。

The first half of this book flew by。 It had all the makings of a Koontz classic, but the second half just kind of went off the rails and it totally lost me。

FascinatingLove anything written by Dean Koontz。 His imagination is lather than 100 10 year old boys。 I felt as if I were reading some thriller/science fiction but, unfortunately, there is enough truth in this story that even the dullest imaginative person has to see the possibility and be thrilled。

William J。

Fantasy novel with philosophical twist Koontz books have a solid good versus evil theme that have over the years become more philosophical。 He often deals with false utopias and their inevitable journey to evil。 He almost sounds influenced by Utopia Road to Hell。

Not his finest workDean Koontz is one of my favorite authors, but he missed the mark on this one。 Quinn Quicksilver is a muddied version of Odd Thomas。。。shame on you, Dean。 Most of the plot is conversation with the reader, very little action。

Mithmith

engaging, right up to the point when the seer appears。。。 after which it was just ridiculous。

GreatI am a fan of Dean Koontz already, but this book hit me, the science fiction side but more, the peeling apart of the parallels of where our society is now and what it will take in fighting the battle to save ourselves。

Okay, so this one might not make the bestseller lists, but I enjoyed it。 It wasn’t as suspenseful as some of Koontz’s other books, but that balanced out for me with the chuckles it provided。 It did contain sci-fi and supernatural elements, and of course the bad guys were all REALLY bad。 I liked Quinn and Bridget a lot, but I adored Sparky, who was something, then something else, then another something he doesn’t talk about。 He was a good man to have around。 I also thought that J。 K。 Ching was a Okay, so this one might not make the bestseller lists, but I enjoyed it。 It wasn’t as suspenseful as some of Koontz’s other books, but that balanced out for me with the chuckles it provided。 It did contain sci-fi and supernatural elements, and of course the bad guys were all REALLY bad。 I liked Quinn and Bridget a lot, but I adored Sparky, who was something, then something else, then another something he doesn’t talk about。 He was a good man to have around。 I also thought that J。 K。 Ching was a scream。 And then, of course, there was the dog, Winston。 I liked him, too, as we’ve had two different dogs named Winston (my son really liked that name)。 So, the story wasn’t the best, but I’m glad I read it, as the characters were great, and they’re the ones who matter most to me in any story。 Koontz shared some of his worldly wisdom。 My favorite line was “We all arrive in this world with a ticket out of it。” Every human story shares the same ending。 。。。more

Although the necessary parts were in the book, the engine never came to life。 Closer to a 2。5 stars for me。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Bad。 They could see everything coming so there was no suspense。 No action in the getaway? RivetingThis book took me on a journey I didn't expect。 It was a welcome difference from some of other books I've been reading。 I read so many Dean Koontz books as a young adult。 I don't know why I stopped but I will be continuing to do so。 RivetingThis book took me on a journey I didn't expect。 It was a welcome difference from some of other books I've been reading。 I read so many Dean Koontz books as a young adult。 I don't know why I stopped but I will be continuing to do so。 。。。more

DisappointedThis was a difficult read。 I kept expecting something to happen and when it did, what a let down!! Had to look up too many words, had to skip pages because it was just blah, blah, blah!! I know to put my mind in neutral when reading some of his novels, however this was just 。。。。。。。well, ridiculous。

NeophyteFirst time reading Koontz and it will NOT be the last! I'm normally a non-fiction reader but Quicksilver has change my perspective。 It was entertaining, well written, witty and it even has real advise you can live by。 I'm looking forward to the next Koontz NeophyteFirst time reading Koontz and it will NOT be the last! I picked up Quicksilver thinking I'd get a rather traditional mystery/thriller。 I'd only read two other Dean Koontz books。 Quicksilver is an odd sort of mixture - part mystery, thriller, fantasy/sci-fi。 Based on some of the reviews, it was not for everyone and it was "out of the box", but I found the story to be most enjoyable。I recommend。。。 I picked up Quicksilver thinking I'd get a rather traditional mystery/thriller。 I'd only read two other Dean Koontz books。 Quicksilver is an odd sort of mixture - part mystery, thriller, fantasy/sci-fi。 Based on some of the reviews, it was not for everyone and it was "out of the box", but I found the story to be most enjoyable。I recommend。。。 。。。more

Fast-paced, funny and keeps the pages turning。。。Dean Koontz again hooked me with his past performances, and I was entertained for the 300+ pages AND more than a little disappointed when they had all been turned。Masterful character development continues to be his strongest attribute as an author。 Reminiscent of Odd Thomas and other previous heroes, give this one time。。。it is a new story。 I promise。

I normally wouldn't finish a book that wasn't at least 3 stars, but I really wanted this storyline to work out。 The Quick Silver story started out so intriguing。 However the entire book turned out to be too wordy, jumpy and weird (but not in a good way)。 I normally wouldn't finish a book that wasn't at least 3 stars, but I really wanted this storyline to work out。 The Quick Silver story started out so intriguing。 However the entire book turned out to be too wordy, jumpy and weird (but not in a good way)。 。。。more

Was ok - a lot of koontz’ books have the same general premise。 A dog, a woman and man in love saving the world from evil, various interesting side characters。 Don’t get me wrong!! I enjoyed it - just sayin。
