Summary

Not as good as Pride and Prejudice and it often felt slow, but I love the characters and how fleshed out they are

Witty and delightful, I am yet to dislike an Austen book。 Prompted by a recent trip to Bath in the UK this was the first time I had read this book and had somehow never seen an adaptation of it, so I was spoiler-free。 Anne Elliot, whilst in the style of an Austen heroine, felt unique and likable yet still flawed and following this excerpt of her life was a lovely experience。 Should I have the gall to find fault with Jane Austen, the only other thing I wanted from this book was more。 More develop Witty and delightful, I am yet to dislike an Austen book。 Prompted by a recent trip to Bath in the UK this was the first time I had read this book and had somehow never seen an adaptation of it, so I was spoiler-free。 Anne Elliot, whilst in the style of an Austen heroine, felt unique and likable yet still flawed and following this excerpt of her life was a lovely experience。 Should I have the gall to find fault with Jane Austen, the only other thing I wanted from this book was more。 More development of the supporting cast and more subplots, really just more time to immerse myself in her world。  。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I think that Persuasion is one of my least favorite Jane Austen books (it comes fifth after Pride and Prejudice, Emma, Sense and Sensibility, and Northanger Abbey)。 It has a very sweet and pleasant love story, but I just didn't like the characters very much。 Anne Elliot isn't like Elizabeth and Jane Bennet, Emma Woodhouse, or Elinor Dashwood, whom I adore and love。 But I still do think Anne is a very sweet character。 She has some of Jane's kindness and some of Elinor's logic and self-conscious。 I think that Persuasion is one of my least favorite Jane Austen books (it comes fifth after Pride and Prejudice, Emma, Sense and Sensibility, and Northanger Abbey)。 It has a very sweet and pleasant love story, but I just didn't like the characters very much。 Anne Elliot isn't like Elizabeth and Jane Bennet, Emma Woodhouse, or Elinor Dashwood, whom I adore and love。 But I still do think Anne is a very sweet character。 She has some of Jane's kindness and some of Elinor's logic and self-conscious。 The characters, side characters, and the setting were really unpleasant and disagreeable to me。However, I did like many parts of it。 I think the romance between Anne and Wentworth is quite lovely and beautiful。 But I just didn't think it had as much gossip and society as Emma or Pride and Prejudice, or even a very good storyline。 At some parts of the book I felt like it was quite slow。 But still, I really enjoyed this one。 。。。more

i'm going to give this 4。5 stars。 i really enjoyed this book! i found it much easier to read than the other Austen novels I've read so far (P&P, S&S, Emma), which made it a far easier book to get through in a shorter timeline because my brain wasn't working overtime simply to understand the language。 i would have given it 4 stars if Wentworth hadn't brought it around at the end; i was beginning to think there wasn't going to be an Austen man for me to love in this story and that was disappointin i'm going to give this 4。5 stars。 i really enjoyed this book! i found it much easier to read than the other Austen novels I've read so far (P&P, S&S, Emma), which made it a far easier book to get through in a shorter timeline because my brain wasn't working overtime simply to understand the language。 i would have given it 4 stars if Wentworth hadn't brought it around at the end; i was beginning to think there wasn't going to be an Austen man for me to love in this story and that was disappointing, but as usual, Jane came through in the end and put a bow on the love story。 i just wish, i suppose, that there was more of a love story? i know that it's a slow burn, as are all of Austen's books, but Captain Wentworth was hardly in the story, which made it more of a book of Anne's personal reflections and figuring out how she feels about him and the other men around her rather than a progression of their romance。 this was a different kind of love story compared to the others, though, and it definitely works for what it is! 。。。more

Anne Eliot is 27, much older than Austen's other leading characters and, I think, more sensical。 Thus Persuasion makes more sense to me than her other classic novels。 Of course。 as many of Austen's sentences take more than a page to complete, the reading was a bit of a chore。 Anne Eliot is 27, much older than Austen's other leading characters and, I think, more sensical。 Thus Persuasion makes more sense to me than her other classic novels。 Of course。 as many of Austen's sentences take more than a page to complete, the reading was a bit of a chore。 。。。more

I have read Persuasion by Jane Austen。 I actually listened to an audiobook version of the classic novel。Once again, Jane Austen amazes me with her writing style, clever sentences, and intriguing storyline。 It is not my favorite Jane Austen book, but I have certainly enjoyed it。 Some of the chapters and characters that appeared in most of them were rather slow。 I sometimes lost my attention and interest in the story at those moments。 I could have chosen another audiobook, perhaps with a more live I have read Persuasion by Jane Austen。 I actually listened to an audiobook version of the classic novel。Once again, Jane Austen amazes me with her writing style, clever sentences, and intriguing storyline。 It is not my favorite Jane Austen book, but I have certainly enjoyed it。 Some of the chapters and characters that appeared in most of them were rather slow。 I sometimes lost my attention and interest in the story at those moments。 I could have chosen another audiobook, perhaps with a more lively narration of the story。The story itself is a typical Jane Austen story, in which one is persuaded into what for some may be a bad match, for others it is a great love。 It is simple, yet the characters, their conversations, and letters, make it a full story。I recommend Jane Austen to anyone who loves to read。 But I know that reading a book written in the 19th century is not for everyone。 Keep that in mind and enjoy。 。。。more

The first Jane Austen book I've read! I'm a foreign reader, to be honest, it's quite difficult to follow the grammar used in classic English and persuasion is one of them。 Even so, I still enjoyed Anne's story and all the characters。 I was captivated by the story of Anne and Captain Wentworth, a second chance for lovers。 The thing I learned is that everything has its time, including being united with half of our souls。 Time will reunite when we are ready for each other (I really like this concep The first Jane Austen book I've read!
