Summary

From the illustrator of the #1 smash The Day the Crayons Quit comes another bestseller--a giggle-inducing tale of everything tossed, thrown, and hurled in order to free a kite!

When Floyd's kite gets stuck in a tree, he's determined to get it out。 But how? Well, by knocking it down with his shoe, of course。 But strangely enough, it too gets stuck。 And the only logical course of action 。 。 。 is to throw his other shoe。 Only now it's stuck! Surely there must be something he can use to get his kite unstuck。 An orangutan? A boat? His front door? Yes, yes, and yes。 And that's only the beginning。 Stuck is Oliver Jeffers' most absurdly funny story since The Incredible Book-Eating Boy。 Childlike in concept and vibrantly illustrated as only Oliver Jeffers could, here is a picture book worth rescuing from any tree。

So funny! My second graders loved it!

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 There’s a lovely use of colour in this book as floyd tries to get his kite down from the tree while throwing things up there to knock it down which just ends up making even more of a mess。 It gets sillier and sillier with him throwing up a whale, boat, house, firemen until he eventually decides to try and cut the tree down。 He can’t do that so he throws up and it knocks the kite down so a happy floyd leaves the tree as he’s got what he wanted but everything else is still stuck

I loved the book, it is quite entertaining to read with children。 I liked the detail of showing Floyd's emotions through colors in the illustrations。 It's kind of surreal and fun to read。 I recommend reading this book to children between 6 - 12 years old。 I loved the book, it is quite entertaining to read with children。 I liked the detail of showing Floyd's emotions through colors in the illustrations。 It's kind of surreal and fun to read。 I recommend reading this book to children between 6 - 12 years old。 。。。more

My daughter absolutely loved this one, and I will admit I laughed (view spoiler)[when he got the ladder, and with the firemen。 (hide spoiler)] The book is silly enough for little kids, but has a couple twists for the adult reader。 We borrowed this from our local library and read it many many times during our loan period。 My daughter absolutely loved this one, and I will admit I laughed (view spoiler)[when he got the ladder, and with the firemen。 (hide spoiler)] The book is silly enough for little kids, but has a couple twists for the adult reader。 We borrowed this from our local library and read it many many times during our loan period。 。。。more

This is a funny book so I like it a lot。

Funny, great illustrations

Who hasn't had a kite or ball stuck up in a tree? When that happens to Floyd, his solution is to keep throwing other things into the tree to knock his kite down。 At first he throws small, semi-logical items into the tree, but when they not only don't knock the kite down, but also get stuck in the tree themselves, Floyd goes crazy and throws things like a ladder, the kitchen sink, a orangutan, and even an ocean liner and whale at the kite。 They all get stuck in the tree。 Finally, he gets a saw。 H Who hasn't had a kite or ball stuck up in a tree? No。 He throws it at the kite and there finally was no more room left。 The kite pops free。 At the end of an exhausting day, Floyd heads to bed with a nagging feeling that he's forgotten something。 Through his bedroom window, readers can see all the unusual items still trapped in the tree。 Oops! 。。。more

This was a great book on how not to handle a problem。 Great book for predictions。Mostly, It is just funny。 Great for storytime because the kids just keep laughing at how outrageous it gets。

I’ve discovered Not-My-Favorite-Oliver-Jeffers book。 All reports I’m reading say that the target audience (young children) loves this absurd fun。 Read my full review here。 I’ve discovered Not-My-Favorite-Oliver-Jeffers book。 All reports I’m reading say that the target audience (young children) loves this absurd fun。 Read my full review here。 。。。more

Keneil B。

I thought it was quite funny。 But it failed the story time vibe check。 The kids lost interest after the second shoe got thrown into the tree :( Might have just been the ages。

This book is a fun and engaging book, but you can do a lot of different activities with this book。 Use this for teaching about protecting the environment!!

The randomness of this story leaves the reader not only on the edge of their seat but falling out of it laughing!

A really funny book about a boy who gets his kite stuck in a tree and the chaos that follows。This would be a great book to read to an EYFS or KS1 class at the end of a day。
