Oh。 My。 God。 This had no right to be that good。 So let's talk about a couple of things I didn't like first。 One, the female main character felt SO cliche。 It felt like she was a woman written by a man and this whole book felt like it was meant for men tbh 🥲 Like, miss girl, how many times are your nipples going to be hard? 😩 Two, the pacing felt off。 It felt like everything happened very fast but then very slow but then very fast again。 This isn't necessarily something I didn't like, but it's so Oh。 My。 God。 This had no right to be that good。 So let's talk about a couple of things I didn't like first。 One, the female main character felt SO cliche。 It felt like she was a woman written by a man and this whole book felt like it was meant for men tbh 🥲 Like, miss girl, how many times are your nipples going to be hard? 😩 Two, the pacing felt off。 It felt like everything happened very fast but then very slow but then very fast again。 This isn't necessarily something I didn't like, but it's something that made it difficult for me to picture the setting, and this is just because of me as a reader and not the book, but I didn't understand some parts and references to Catholicism (I grew up Muslim), but that isn't a complaint at all。 Everything was fixable with a quick Google search。 Other than those things, I LOOOOOOVED this book。 I absolutely love the premise and storyline。 As someone who has always struggled with her faith, this kind of opened my eyes on why people would want to live their lives guided through religion and how they see the world based on their beliefs。 Truly。 I get it now。 Don't get me started on the spice。 Good LORD。 Nobody writes spice like Sierra Simone。 What better way to kickstart Ramadan, right? 🤪One quote really resonated with me: "Is this Your will for me? Am I giving into lust? Or am I finally realizing Your plan for my life?" I really liked the male main character's development and I loved reading his thoughts and monologue, his internal fight between his beliefs and his love for Poppy。 The way Tyler approached religion was so healthy and I very much enjoyed reading it。 Sierra Simone did an incredible job。 。。。more
