Summary

When ancient magic tests a newfound love, a dark fate beckons 。 。 。

Magic has been banished in the land of Syhl Shallow for as long as best friends Jax and Callyn can remember。 They once loved the stories of the powerful magesmiths and mythical scravers who could conjure fire or control ice, but now they’ve learned that magic only leads to danger: magic is what killed Callyn’s parents, leaving her alone to raise her younger sister。 Magic never helped Jax, whose leg was crushed in an accident that his father has been punishing him for ever since。 Magic won’t save either of them when the tax collector comes calling, threatening to take their homes if they can't pay what they owe。

Meanwhile, Jax and Callyn are astonished to learn magic has returned to Syhl Shallow -- in the form of a magesmith who's now married to their queen。 Now, the people of Syhl Shallow are expected to allow dangerous magic in their midst, and no one is happy about it。

When a stranger rides into town offering Jax and Callyn silver in exchange for holding secret messages for an anti-magic faction, the choice is obvious -- even if it means they may be aiding in a plot to destroy their new king。 It’s a risk they’re both willing to take。 That is, until another visitor arrives: handsome Lord Tycho, the King’s Courier, the man who’s been tasked with discovering who’s conspiring against the throne。

Suddenly, Jax and Callyn find themselves embroiled in a world of shifting alliances, dangerous flirtations, and ancient magic 。 。 。 where even the deepest loyalties will be tested。

Here we are again, a new series following the Cursebreakers books by Brigid Kemmerer。 I don’t want to spoil any of the things that happened in Cursebreakers or want to give away anything from this book but all I have to say is that it was a great read and a perfect way to start the new series。 While it was a slow start it was a good start nonetheless。 The story takes place 4 years after A Vow So Bold and Deadly and features 3 main POVS。1) Tychno- a 19 year old working for the king (appeared in A Here we are again, a new series following the Cursebreakers books by Brigid Kemmerer。 I don’t want to spoil any of the things that happened in Cursebreakers or want to give away anything from this book but all I have to say is that it was a great read and a perfect way to start the new series。 While it was a slow start it was a good start nonetheless。 The story takes place 4 years after A Vow So Bold and Deadly and features 3 main POVS。1) Tychno- a 19 year old working for the king (appeared in A Heart So Fierce and Broken)2) Jax- 18 year old blacksmith (new character)3) Callyn- 18 year old baker (new character)We also get cameos of some of our favs from the Cursebreakers series。 I liked Tychno and while Jax and Callyn were a bit harder to connect too they werent too bad ( though Callyn’s storyline made me want to scream in frustration at times, but thats just how it is sometimes)。 I can’t wait to see where the next books go and how these characters grow!! *Thanks Netgalley and Bloomsbury USA Children's Books, Bloomsbury YA for sending me an arc in exchange for an honest review* 。。。more

5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Thank you Netgalley and publisher for the e-arc for an honest opinion。Please take in mind it’s my opinion, and everyone is allowed to have one。 Can I say I absolutely loved this book? Because I did!! Did I mention this is TYCHO’s book? He was one of my favorite characters in the Cursebreaker serie, to say i’m extremely happy he’s gotten his own book is an understatement。 Everything from the characters to the plot was written so perfectly, might love this more than ACSDAL。 Also 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Thank you Netgalley and publisher for the e-arc for an honest opinion。Please take in mind it’s my opinion, and everyone is allowed to have one。 Can I say I absolutely loved this book? I have come to the conclusion, that I will sacrifice sleep, to binge read anything that Brigid kemmerer writes。 I loved the cursebreakers series, and gave the entire trilogy five stars, and was really excited to receive an arc from bloomsbury。Forging silver into stars was another incredible fantasy novel, that expanded the worlds that were already well known, and added so much more heart and history to them。 I loved that the main character's from the trilogy were still prevalent but didn't overs I have come to the conclusion, that I will sacrifice sleep, to binge read anything that Brigid kemmerer writes。 I loved the cursebreakers series, and gave the entire trilogy five stars, and was really excited to receive an arc from bloomsbury。Forging silver into stars was another incredible fantasy novel, that expanded the worlds that were already well known, and added so much more heart and history to them。 I loved that the main character's from the trilogy were still prevalent but didn't overshadow Tycho's story, and the world building was just as strong as it was in previous books。 I loved learning more about Tycho, and seeing him play a main role, where he can break away from Grey's shadow, and figure out what he wants for himself。The new character's were easily likeable, and it was interesting to see their history and have their stories connect to the ending of the cursebreakers, as FSIS is set 4 years later, and we see the effect of magic, and the war, on the townspeople's businesses and lives。 Jax and Callyn had great chemistry between them, and their bickering was always a nice break from the constant foreboding。 Callyn's youngest sister Nora, was a delight to read, as she was often very outspoken and cheeky, which was a contrast to most of the character's in the book。Overall, I loved the story, and cannot wait to own my own physical copy, and eventually read the sequel。 I am definitely not patient enough to wait a year, but I am the only one to blame for my suffering。 。。。more

I loved this book so much!I need a minute to gather my thoughts so I’ll write my full review soon。 But I loved it! I felt sad for everyone at points, the horrible father, the romance feelings, the intriguing story and the messenger, the queen, … everything!

*So received an ARC in exchange for an honest review。 First, if you haven’t read the Cursebreaker trilogy, don’t read this book yet。 It 100% requires you to have knowledge of the story line and characters in that series。 That’s not a bad thing - just be forewarned, this book assumes you’re familiar with the story and will spoil many plot points in the Cursebreaker trilogy for you。At around page 300, I realized I should probably stop waiting for the story to happen。 I really enjoyed the fast pace *So received an ARC in exchange for an honest review。 First, if you haven’t read the Cursebreaker trilogy, don’t read this book yet。 It 100% requires you to have knowledge of the story line and characters in that series。 That’s not a bad thing - just be forewarned, this book assumes you’re familiar with the story and will spoil many plot points in the Cursebreaker trilogy for you。At around page 300, I realized I should probably stop waiting for the story to happen。 I really enjoyed the fast pace of the Cursebreaker trilogy, but Forging Silver Into Stars reads more like really loooooong set up for a second book。 There’s lots of repeating scenes here with minimal character development, and I started to get the sense that the actual story is about Grey and Lia Mara - though they’ve been relegated to the role of side characters we only get to briefly see through Tycho’s perspective。 And while I did enjoy Tycho’s character, I struggled to connect with Jax and Callyn on an emotional level。 There’s no climactic action until the very last 50-100 pages, so it was hard for me to figure out their role - I know I’m supposed to sympathize with their plight but nothing spurs them into action, even things that I personally thought should。 It’s just a lot of indecision and talking around the truth。 Speaking of truth, what little plot there is here hangs on poor communication between every single character, which got frustrating fast。 And I get it - miscommunication and poor communication are factors of everyday life。 But when it’s an ongoing thread that has to sustain 500 pages of conversation…it does get a bit old。I realize this review makes it sound like I hated the book。 And I don’t think it’d be accurate to say I enjoyed it。 But will I read the next one? Yeah, definitely。 I care too much about the original cast of characters to not keep reading, and I have hope that all this set up will turn into a much faster paced second book。 Oh gosh, I hope。 。。。more

All thoughts and opinions reflected in this review are my own。This book just drove home what I already knew。 I would read Brigid Kemmerer’s grocery list and love it。 This is one of my most anticipated books coming this spring—I mean, Brigid Kemmerer, return to Emberfall and Syhl Shallow, disability rep, AND MORE TYCHO???—and it exceeded all my expectations。 This book is tri-POV, following Jax and Callyn, best friends who live in a small Syhl Shallow town near the boarder to Emberfall, and Tycho, a fan favorite from the Cursebreakers series。 As courtly politics and magic reach Cal and Jax’s town, they find themselves on opposing sides of a potential war, and have to face the fact that everything they’ve always known about magic and the King, may not be true。I loved this book。 I loved the plot, the story, and I already loved the world, but now I love it even more。 I loved all the cameos from Jake, Harper, Grey, Rhen, Noah, and Lia Mara。 I loved the disability representation in Jax, a below the knee amputee。 I loved one of the romances。 I already adored Tycho, and I loved seeing more of him。 I loved Callyn and Jax and their personalities and characterizations and growth。 I JUST LOVED THIS BOOK OKAY?I will admit, Callyn’s storyline kind of made me want to scream at times, since, because I’ve read the Cursebreakers, I knew so much that she didn’t and I just wanted to shake some sense into her。 I mean, don’t get me wrong。 It was well written, made sense with her character, her past, the world, and all of that。 I think it was well done and I don’t have any complaints with it, it was just SO FRUSTRATING。 I think it was supposed to be。I flew through this book。 It’s like 560 pages, and I read the whole thing in under 24 hours。 In two sittings。 I stayed up late into the night, reading until I couldn’t keep my eyes open and had to put it down because I was so hooked。 I honestly don’t know what it is about Brigid Kemmerer’s books that are so addicting to me。 Her characters are just so alive, her worlds are so easy to fall into, and she is a master of keeping you on the edge of your seat。All of that is to say: this is the best book I have read so far this year—and I’ve read 61 books so far。 I have only one complaint, and that is the fact that I’ll have to wait over a year for book 2。3/15/22BRIGID FREAKING KEMMERER MANI LOVE HER I LOVE THE CURSEBREAKERS I LOVE DEFY THE NIGHT I LOVE THISactual rtc 。。。more

The Cursebreaker series is one of my absolute favorites, so I could not be happier to have made the jump back into the Cursebreaker world with FORGING SILVER INTO STARS。 And it was everything I ever could have hoped for。 Kemmerer has a very engaging writing style and I loved getting a closer look at Tycho, King Grey’s right hand man。 From the action scenes to the romance to the challenges of close friends and family, this book was perfect。 I absolutely cannot wait for the next one

Wow。 I am at a loss for words。 I have always loved Brigid’s books, but I think this one might be my favorite。 I have not one but TWO cinnamon rolls, an amazing story, characters that I adored from the previous series, and a dash of romance! I can’t wait for the next book!

I’ve been so excited for a Tycho book since Brigid hinted about it and it does not disappoint!! I love Jax and Callyn so so much and getting to revisit Emberfall and Syhl Shallow makes me so happy! But now I’m left here with no book 2 and I need it right now。 If you love the Curse Breaker series, you’re going to love Tycho’s story and the new characters we get to meet。 All the stars!!

There is just something I love about a Brigid Kemmerer book! She tells such an intriguing story and it was no different with this book。 She took everything we knew and loved about the Cursebreaker series and made it into something new and exciting。 Not to mention my Tycho love just grew and grew with every page。 Also hello Jax! Welcome to my heart! Full review to come。

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Forging Silver into Stars Author: Brigid KemererThis was a spin off of the author’s previous series, Cursebreakers, and it takes place in the same universe。 Honestly, I have very little to say about this book, or, rather, there is little I can say without spoiling major elements of the book。 It was like the author laid a bunch of spider thin stands within our minds, then, in a blink, they pulled tight, forming a magnificent work of color and that feeling where you’re amazed but ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Forging Silver into Stars Author: Brigid KemererThis was a spin off of the author’s previous series, Cursebreakers, and it takes place in the same universe。 Honestly, I have very little to say about this book, or, rather, there is little I can say without spoiling major elements of the book。 It was like the author laid a bunch of spider thin stands within our minds, then, in a blink, they pulled tight, forming a magnificent work of color and that feeling where you’re amazed but also feel like and idiot because you didn’t see that coming。 Furthermore, it blurs the line between right and wrong incredibly well。 I can with full confidence say that, if the book focused solely on either Jax or Callyn’s POV, I would be wholeheartedly on their side。 Cons: it started off slow, but, looking back on it, the ending was well worth the wait, and I entirely understand the authors reasoning for it Pros: I can’t say much, but I would definitely recommend itthe characters were all pretty well roundedNone of the characters are unbearably annoyingIt furthers the universe without altering its intrinsic values… (those are dots of intrigue; just go with it) Would I read it again? I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of Forging Silver into Stars from the author and publisher。 I did not want to set this book down。 The three changing perspectives, constantly had me on my toes and I just wanted to know what would happen next。When Jax and Callyn receive notices from the tax collector for each of their business, they don’t know how they’re going to pay it。 When an offer is presented to them, delivering messages for The Trughbringers, they take it, not knowing what mess it woul I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of Forging Silver into Stars from the author and publisher。 I did not want to set this book down。 The three changing perspectives, constantly had me on my toes and I just wanted to know what would happen next。When Jax and Callyn receive notices from the tax collector for each of their business, they don’t know how they’re going to pay it。 When an offer is presented to them, delivering messages for The Trughbringers, they take it, not knowing what mess it would land them in。 Tycho, who I already loved from the Cursebreakers series, is a messenger between the two castles。 When his horse throws a shoe, he arrives in the town of Briarlock and meets Jax and Callyn, not knowing how important they will be to his story。I loved diving back into this world that Kemmerer has woven, but from a different perspective。 In the Cursebreakers we only really read from the perspective of royals and people in their inner circle。 In this spinoff, I really enjoyed seeing the world and the view points of regular people。 It shows how even after the bad guy is defeated, there is still struggling。 We don’t normally get this view point in fantasy and I really enjoyed it。I also wanted to know more about Tycho after I finished A Vow so Bold and Deadly and I loved seeing him grow as a character in this book。 He truly finds himself and what it actually means to be loyal。 He finds love and companionship。 Truly, all of these characters grew so much。 From Jax and Callyn realizing that magic isn’t all bad, to Grey realizing what it’s like to be a king as well as a father。I truly loved meeting new characters and reacquainting with old ones in Brigid Kemmerer’s latest novel, Forging Silver into Stars。 This is a fantasy novel full of found family, growth, and learning what loyalty actually is。 I highly recommend giving this one a read! 。。。more

Brigid Kemmerer has written another amazing novel。 I love the politics that she covers in her books。 Some of it even seemsto mirror what has happened recently in our politics。 We also not only get to see some favorite characters but a whole other side of Syl Shallow as well。 The main characters aren't the only ones flushed out either。 The family dynamics that shape why Call and Jax are accepting messages that they know are suspect are shown throughout the book which adds temendously to the plot。 Brigid Kemmerer has written another amazing novel。 I love the politics that she covers in her books。 Some of it even seemsto mirror what has happened recently in our politics。 We also not only get to see some favorite characters but a whole other side of Syl Shallow as well。 The main characters aren't the only ones flushed out either。 The family dynamics that shape why Call and Jax are accepting messages that they know are suspect are shown throughout the book which adds temendously to the plot。 I thoroughly enjoyed this book and can't wait till it comes out so that I can recommend it to my teens。 。。。more

Okay, so here's the thing。 I have not read The Cursebreakers series。 I went into this only knowing extreme basics about the world: there's some sorta portal from DC to a fantasy world。。。and the main character in the first series has cerebral palsy。That's it。So I went into this with pretty much no clue about this world and I do think that's part of the reason this is a 3 star read for me。 I just had a lot of trouble getting into the setting。 The backstory felt repetitive while at the same time ne Okay, so here's the thing。 I have not read The Cursebreakers series。 I went into this only knowing extreme basics about the world: there's some sorta portal from DC to a fantasy world。。。and the main character in the first series has cerebral palsy。That's it。So I went into this with pretty much no clue about this world and I do think that's part of the reason this is a 3 star read for me。 I just had a lot of trouble getting into the setting。 The backstory felt repetitive while at the same time never really resonating and I still felt I was missing on quite a bit。 The world didn't feel real or complex。It's also a really slow burn that I felt could've been cut down quite a bit。 Sometimes characters would repeat a thought they'd had in the last chapter。 Maybe that gets cleaned up some?
