Summary

Following Written in the Stars and Hang the Moon, national bestselling author Alexandria Bellefleur pens another steamy queer rom-com about former best friends who might be each other's second chance at love…

Margot Cooper doesn’t do relationships。 She tried and it blew up in her face, so she’ll stick with casual hookups, thank you very much。 But now her entire crew has found "the one" and she’s beginning to feel like a fifth wheel。 And then fate (the heartless bitch) intervenes。 While touring a wedding venue with her engaged friends, Margot comes face-to-face with Olivia Grant—her childhood friend, her first love, her first… well, everything。 It’s been ten years, but the moment they lock eyes, Margot’s cold, dead heart thumps in her chest。

Olivia must be hallucinating。 In the decade since she last saw Margot, her life hasn’t gone exactly as planned。 At almost thirty, she’s been married。。。 and divorced。 However, a wedding planner job in Seattle means a fresh start and a chance to follow her dreams。 Never in a million years did she expect her important new client’s Best Woman would be the one that got away。

When a series of unfortunate events leaves Olivia without a place to stay, Margot offers up her spare room because she’s a Very Good Person。 Obviously。 It has nothing to do with the fact that Olivia is as beautiful as ever and the sparks between them still make Margot tingle。 As they spend time in close quarters, Margot starts to question her no-strings stance。 Olivia is everything she’s ever wanted, but Margot let her in once and it ended in disaster。 Will history repeat itself or should she count her lucky stars that she gets a second chance with her first love?

While predictable, as all rom-coms are, I was captivated by the characters。 This, I believe, is the goal of any good rom-com。 The characters need to be strong enough that the readers want to stick around, even when they know what will happen, and Bellefleur did just this。 My only complaint was that it was unclear what Olivia’s sexuality was。 Because of the long-term marriage with Brad and the crush she had on Margot in high school, we are led to believe she is bisexual, but it is unclear。 I’m not sure how that could have been naturally incorporated, but it was something I wondered while I was reading the novel。 Overall, I am obsessed with this book。 It is a strong, queer romantic-comedy that we don’t often get to see。 The girls being queer is not the plot of this book and I appreciated that。 While those books have their place, I am glad this was not one of them。 I got to read a book about people like me。 It felt real and relatable。 Just a fun romantic comedy about queer women。 I sing only praise to Alexandria Bellefleur for this incredible book。 5/5https://cathwrites42。wixsite。com/cath。。。 。。。more

Olivia and Margot were best friends in high school and had a steamy romantic week during spring break their senior year。 Miscommunication between them made them go their separate ways despite both having strong feelings for one another。  When their paths cross again 11 years later sparks seem to fly and old feelings come back。This is my first novel by Alexandria Bellefluer。  Her other books have been on my tbr for a long time and I just haven't gotten around to reading them。  They've definitely Olivia and Margot were best friends in high school and had a steamy romantic week during spring break their senior year。 Miscommunication between them made them go their separate ways despite both having strong feelings for one another。  When their paths cross again 11 years later sparks seem to fly and old feelings come back。This is my first novel by Alexandria Bellefluer。  Her other books have been on my tbr for a long time and I just haven't gotten around to reading them。  They've definitely moved up my list。  This super steamy romance was cute, funny, fast paced and adorable。  It's a story about second chances, loving yourself, acceptance, friendship and love。 I loved these characters so much。  I found them to be witty, brave, determined, loyal, sincere。  I love the queer rep too。  I just loved the whole thing。  Looking forward to getting to know the other characters in the other books。 。。。more

I loved Written in the Stars。 I was disappointed with Hang the Moon - I think Brendan makes a good side character but as a protagonist he was just too goofy for my taste。 And Count Your Lucky Stars for me was good but not great。 I liked the characters - still pretty two dimensional but they felt more developed than in HTM。 I’ve always liked Margot and Olivia was great, too。 The chemistry was fantastic between the characters and the steam was, I mean, OOF 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 all of my yes。 I liked most of the I loved Written in the Stars。 I was disappointed with Hang the Moon - I think Brendan makes a good side character but as a protagonist he was just too goofy for my taste。 And Count Your Lucky Stars for me was good but not great。 I liked the characters - still pretty two dimensional but they felt more developed than in HTM。 I’ve always liked Margot and Olivia was great, too。 The chemistry was fantastic between the characters and the steam was, I mean, OOF 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 all of my yes。 I liked most of the tropes (friends to lovers, second chance, roommates, secret romance) but what kept bothering me - and this is a problem in many romcoms - is that literally the only plot in this entire book was a miscommunication that could have been resolved with a single conversation。 I feel like if a miscommunication is going to be a significant plot point there needs to be something (anything!) else also going on, or at least a good reason why communication isn’t happening other than feelings are hard。 There were no real problems- every problem in this book that was bigger than an inconvenience could have been (and was!) solved with 1 conversation。 I’m frustrated because with a bit more depth, this story could’ve been a 4。5 even 5 star read but instead it was more of a 3。5 that I’m rounding up to 4 because I’m not kidding about the steam y’all。 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶 I still enjoy Bellefleur’s books but I think she underestimates her characters’ potential to deal with real issues。 I’d rather read about strong characters who overcome real adversity as opposed to people with perfect lives who create their own unnecessary drama。Thank you NetGalley, author and publisher for the arc in exchange for an honest review。 All opinions are my own。 。。。more

Or was it the end to their friendship as they knew it?Count Your Lucky Stars is the third and final book in the Written In The Stars series。 This was a lovely conclusion to the series, the story focused on Margot and Olivia while giving us a glimpse at the couples from past books as they were still a major component to the plot。 Margot is hard headed and spunky, but turns to a pile of mush when Olivia is involved。 Olivia is generous and giving to a fault, but she is selfish with Margot。 I like that this book moved fast and was very character driven, making it a quick and easy read!Thank you to NetGalley and Avon for sharing this ARC with me in exchange for an honest review。 。。。more

Meh。 Bit dull。 Margot and Olivia do not have much chemistry。 We learn way more about Olivia and brad, than we do of Margot and Olivia。 They don’t seem like old friends who had a thing。 They seem like strangers who randomly start having sex。 CW: divorce, sexual jokes, profanity, sexual content, heart attack, medical context, discussion of diet, astrology, frequent alcohol usage, infidelity, sex on page, injury, toxic relationship, dead parent

I love me some Alexandria Bellefleur。 The first two books in this series were solid 5⭐ reads for me, and I was thrilled to start this one because I love Margot so much。 While this book was still very good, it was, unfortunately, not a 5⭐。 Overall, there was a lack of banter unlike the first two books, and Olivia and Margot just didn’t seem to have the same chemistry as the other couple。 Additionally, the pace felt a little off and the ending was very rushed。 I still give this 4⭐, but I couldn’t I love me some Alexandria Bellefleur。 The first two books in this series were solid 5⭐ reads for me, and I was thrilled to start this one because I love Margot so much。 While this book was still very good, it was, unfortunately, not a 5⭐。 Overall, there was a lack of banter unlike the first two books, and Olivia and Margot just didn’t seem to have the same chemistry as the other couple。 Additionally, the pace felt a little off and the ending was very rushed。 I still give this 4⭐, but I couldn’t help but feel a little disappointed。 Don’t worry, I will still read anything this author writes。 。。。more

I love this series so much。 This time we get Margot's story, and it's a second chance romance that dates back to high school。 Margot and her best friend Olivia had a steamy week during spring break of their senior year。 But when it ended, they didn't speak for 11 years, both believing the other wasn't interested。 I was glad to read Margot's perspective on being the single friend when the rest of her friend group was coupled up。 The whole friend group is amazing and a great example of found famil I love this series so much。 This time we get Margot's story, and it's a second chance romance that dates back to high school。 Margot and her best friend Olivia had a steamy week during spring break of their senior year。 But when it ended, they didn't speak for 11 years, both believing the other wasn't interested。 I was glad to read Margot's perspective on being the single friend when the rest of her friend group was coupled up。 The whole friend group is amazing and a great example of found family。 And getting to see the whole group felt particularly special as we reach the final book of the trilogy。Alexandria Bellefleur writes characters so well。 I realized as I read that I kept expecting Olivia to be less well rounded than Margot since Margot is the only one of the main characters that had been introduced in the previous books。 But that expectation was a disservice to Bellefleur's amazing character writing。 It felt like both Margot and Olivia were real people, and like I could fully understand them。 This was a wonderful and steamy romance and an amazing rom-com with some truly hilarious scenes (shout out to Cat the cat)。 I am so sad to say goodbye to this amazing series and so excited to see what we get next from Alexandria Bellefleur。 Thank you to Avon and NetGalley for the advanced reader copy。 These opinions are my own。 。。。more

What an absolutely beautiful ending to this trilogy!! I instantly feel in love with Margot and Olivia's story。 I connected with Margot in the first two books and was able to divide deeper into her as a person in this one, which was wonderful。 Olivia was also a really nice, wholesome addition to the series and balanced out Margot beautifully。 The book can be read alone but I would highly suggest otherwise since the other 2 couples are very predominant in this book。 Written in the Stars and this b What an absolutely beautiful ending to this trilogy!! I’m so happy they all have found their happy endings。 It was so nice to read a book where there is so much representation and the characters are so well developed。 Even though this was Margot and Olivia’s books we still got glimpses of our favourites (and the fact that Elle is 10/10 the type to wear toe socks 🤣)。 I could honestly go on for days about how obsessed I am with this book and all three in this universe。 So if you haven’t added this to your TBR for 2022 I would recommend running to do so now! I’m already contemplating if it’s too soon to re-read!Thank you so much to Avon for this ARC。 。。。more

Event planner Olivia Grant is about to hit her big break when she's tasked to bring one of the biggest weddings of the year to fruition in only 3 short weeks。 However, the emergence of her high school best friend, Margot, back into her life might just be the complication that throws her life into a tailspin。Count Your Lucky Stars is the perfect conclusion to the Written in the Stars series。 This second chance, forced proximity romance is super steamy。 I loved Margot and Olivia。 Normally, I am no Event planner Olivia Grant is about to hit her big break when she's tasked to bring one of the biggest weddings of the year to fruition in only 3 short weeks。 However, the emergence of her high school best friend, Margot, back into her life might just be the complication that throws her life into a tailspin。Count Your Lucky Stars is the perfect conclusion to the Written in the Stars series。 This second chance, forced proximity romance is super steamy。 I loved Margot and Olivia。 Normally, I am not a fan of flashbacks, but this book did them so well。 Bellefleur has a way with witty dialogue that always has me teetering between laughing and swooning。 The thing I loved most was seeing the continuation of the lives of this friend group。 Count Your Lucky Stars publishes February 1。 Thanks to Avon for the advanced copy。 。。。more

Wow, this series is so good, and Count Your Lucky Stars was probably my favorite of the three! I think I really liked how realistic the characters were。 They realized that they were miscommunicating and actually said it out loud。 One of the most aggravating tropes, but in this book we can see it being noticed by the characters and taken care of。 I really enjoyed that the two MCs were brought back together after having a history。 That's not something you see in many books (at least not ones I hav Wow, this series is so good, and Count Your Lucky Stars was probably my favorite of the three! 3。5/5 this gave me exactly what i wanted—a sweet, easy read with a happy ending after my reread of a little life。 some of the Big Emotional Moments felt a little rushed or just not quite as impactful as i wanted them to be, but i’m okay with that because i think the book would have had to be a lot longer to build up those moments enough to be more impactful。 i also haven’t read the first two books in the series, so i’m wondering if those might have filled in some of the gaps that left me wanting 3。5/5 this gave me exactly what i wanted—a sweet, easy read with a happy ending after my reread of a little life。 some of the Big Emotional Moments felt a little rushed or just not quite as impactful as i wanted them to be, but i’m okay with that because i think the book would have had to be a lot longer to build up those moments enough to be more impactful。 i also haven’t read the first two books in the series, so i’m wondering if those might have filled in some of the gaps that left me wanting more。 that said, this book honestly stands strongly enough on its own that you really don’t need to have read the other books to enjoy this one!I was able to read this early as an ARC from Barnes & Noble :) 。。。more

I had a good fun time with this one

This book is basically just one big miscommunication trope。 Definitely not my style。 There were some enjoyable parts to this book, but I just didn’t feel a connection to the characters or the plot in any fashion。 Margot was an interesting character, and I can see myself in her a little bit, but that still wasn’t enough to make me care about what happened to her through the story。The first half of the book was really wonky if you ask me, what with Margot and Olivia’s relationship suddenly going f This book is basically just one big miscommunication trope。 Definitely not my style。 There were some enjoyable parts to this book, but I just didn’t feel a connection to the characters or the plot in any fashion。 Margot was an interesting character, and I can see myself in her a little bit, but that still wasn’t enough to make me care about what happened to her through the story。The first half of the book was really wonky if you ask me, what with Margot and Olivia’s relationship suddenly going from “everything’s fine” to “stuff’s about to hit the fan” off and on every 5 pages。 And then they finally get together and it’s so out of nowhere that it’s laughable。 There was no buildup to the intimate scenes in the book, and I felt that their relationship just could’ve been executed way better in general。The ending was rushed as well。 There was no cleaning up the pieces, no groveling。 Just “we’re fighting” to “we’re fine”。 。。。more
