Ayant envie de changer de continent et de thème de lecture， je me suis tournée vers un écrivain Israélien， Dror Mishani et son roman policier dans lequel il compte « Une deux trois » （«Shalosh »） 。 Encore un livre dans ma bibliothèque depuis un certain temps…。Cela concerne des femmes : Orna （Une） – Emilia （Deux） – Ella （Trois）。Toutes les trois， à Tel-Aviv， sont victimes d'un avocat qui s'est inscrit sur leur site de rencontre。 Ah， ces réseaux sociaux， attention ！！！Chacune d'elles rêve de son ave Ayant envie de changer de continent et de thème de lecture， je me suis tournée vers un écrivain Israélien， Dror Mishani et son roman policier dans lequel il compte « Une deux trois » （«Shalosh »） 。 Encore un livre dans ma bibliothèque depuis un certain temps…。Cela concerne des femmes : Orna （Une） – Emilia （Deux） – Ella （Trois）。Toutes les trois， à Tel-Aviv， sont victimes d'un avocat qui s'est inscrit sur leur site de rencontre。 Ah， ces réseaux sociaux， attention ！！！Chacune d'elles rêve de son avenir tout en se débattant dans sa vie professionnelle ou ses problèmes sentimentaux。L'une vit très mal son récent divorceLa deuxième， une pauvre fille solitaire， un peu paumée voit que le fils de son employeur qui vient de mourir， lui propose de l'aider à trouver du travail。 Son nom : Guil…Et c'est là qu'arrive la troisième， Ella…Le récit est fait en triptyque et les surprises sont nombreuses。C'est que faire la connaissance du fameux Guil représente des doutes quant à son comportement。Il faut reconnaître qu'en ayant lu la quatrième de couverture， pas de surprise : il y a du tragique et le lecteur est prévenu。Il en va de même pour l'enquête （car il y a eu drames）， qui est menée de façon plutôt bizarre。 J'ai bien apprécié cette femme， qui s'appelle aussi Orna， qui revient de congé de maternité， et se retrouve en charge de cette enquête。 Par chance， elle est d'une grande ténacité et doit mener de front sa vie familiale et sa vie professionnelle。Un roman à rebondissements， passionnant et qui donne la voix aux femmes。 Voilà qui est appréciable。Ainsi je vous ai livré ma petite chronique pour ce livre que j'avais oublié （dommage） : « Une deux trois » de Dror Mishani。 C'est vraiment à découvrir。 。。。more

Aburridísimo。 De los peores thrillers que he leído en mi vida。 Donde está el thriller？Las primeras horas es muuuuy aburrido， no puede ser que de 5 horas el audiolibro las 2 primeras sea un aburrimiento total。 No es que luego mejore mucho tampoco。Personajes planos y totalmente unidimensionales。 Ninguno me ha caído bien。 Orna es una petarda que no supera lo del exmarido y la que más horas ocupa， Emilia como un cero a la izquierda y Ella no aporta nada。 Nos dice que los personajes son tal y cual y Aburridísimo。 De los peores thrillers que he leído en mi vida。 Donde está el thriller？Las primeras horas es muuuuy aburrido， no puede ser que de 5 horas el audiolibro las 2 primeras sea un aburrimiento total。 No es que luego mejore mucho tampoco。Personajes planos y totalmente unidimensionales。 Ninguno me ha caído bien。 Orna es una petarda que no supera lo del exmarido y la que más horas ocupa， Emilia como un cero a la izquierda y Ella no aporta nada。 Nos dice que los personajes son tal y cual y no se enseña nada。 No hay casi diálogos。El plot twist se ve venir de lejos y no impacta。 El cambio de narración de primera persona a tercera no tiene sentido。 No se sabe nada de Gil， ningún tipo de transfondo， nada。Si algo tiene que tener un thriller es que enganche mínimamente y sea una lectura ágil。 No tiene nada de eso。Vamos， un petardo de libro。 。。。more

Nun， es bleibt dabei: ich habe Probleme mit dem Genre Kriminalroman。Mishanis Geschichte fängt an wie ein Familien- oder Gesellschaftsroman und plätschert vor sich hin。Recht unvermittelt kommt es zu einem eher unerwarteten Klimax und plätschert dann weiter。Mühsam werden Verbindungen gebastelt und im Ganzen bleiben mir die Motive der Handelnden völlig unklar。Hinter jeder Seite steht für mich die Frage: Warum lese ich das eigentlich。Ganz am Ende kommt dann nochmal so etwas wie Spannung auf。 Aber au Nun， es bleibt dabei: ich habe Probleme mit dem Genre Kriminalroman。Mishanis Geschichte fängt an wie ein Familien- oder Gesellschaftsroman und plätschert vor sich hin。Recht unvermittelt kommt es zu einem eher unerwarteten Klimax und plätschert dann weiter。Mühsam werden Verbindungen gebastelt und im Ganzen bleiben mir die Motive der Handelnden völlig unklar。Hinter jeder Seite steht für mich die Frage: Warum lese ich das eigentlich。Ganz am Ende kommt dann nochmal so etwas wie Spannung auf。 Aber auch das scheint mir absehbar aber nicht nachvollziehbar。Es ist mir unklar， warum dieses Buch so erfolgreich ist。 （Aber ich bin eben kein Krimileser offensichtlich） 。。。more

Muy buen libro， he disfrutado mucho su lectura。 Es un thriller un poco atípico， un tanto costumbrista， sobre todo al principio。 Los personajes están muy bien definidos， y está muy bien contado y expresado el proceso por el que las personas a veces se ven enredadas en situaciones de las que aparentemente sería sencillo salir y que sin embargo se quedan totalmente atrapadas， por inercia， pereza， costumbre… la estructura del libro en 3 partes no es casual， forma parte de la trama y da pie a que la Muy buen libro， he disfrutado mucho su lectura。 Es un thriller un poco atípico， un tanto costumbrista， sobre todo al principio。 Los personajes están muy bien definidos， y está muy bien contado y expresado el proceso por el que las personas a veces se ven enredadas en situaciones de las que aparentemente sería sencillo salir y que sin embargo se quedan totalmente atrapadas， por inercia， pereza， costumbre… la estructura del libro en 3 partes no es casual， forma parte de la trama y da pie a que la última parte sea magistral， el detalle de que esté escrita parcialmente en tiempo verbal futuro me ha encantado， por original y por la fuerza y la tensión que le da a la historia。 La última frase del libro lo corona， realmente。 。。。more

first standalone novel。 It follows three earlier stories featuring key protagonist detective Avaham Avaham。 The story is unusual as it is split into three part structures in some way representing a modern version of a Greek tragedy。 Each section tells the story of three different women， over three diff This is a really inventive book which was short-listed for the British Crime Writers Translation Award of 2020。 It is the fourth novel by D。A Mishani to be translated into English yet the author’s first standalone novel。 It follows three earlier stories featuring key protagonist detective Avaham Avaham。 The story is unusual as it is split into three part structures in some way representing a modern version of a Greek tragedy。 Each section tells the story of three different women， over three different timeframes and is based in Tel Aviv， Israel。 Aside from their location， the one thing that they all have in common is that they meet one man named Gil。 A slow burning start opens into a fascinating pyscological suspense。 Orla is a divorced single mother who has custody of her socially awkward son， Eran。 With her ex-husband remarried with more children and living overseas， she is keen to find love again， and initiates contact with Gil through online dating。 While she’s far from blown away by the older man， she does feel they have a connection and their relationship starts to progress gradually despite her hesitancy in being in an intimate relationship and doubts over the mysteries of the man she has met。 The third person narrative is told from her perspective and while we know when she holds back on telling him all of her thoughts， in his case we know only what Gil tells Orla about himself。 It is apparent that he is quite an unusual character although does not appear dangerous to Orla，allowing her to overcome some of her initial reluctance。 The return of her son’s father to Israel frees up some time for Orla and she uses the opportunity to spend a few days with Gil。 Crucially with Eran’s father back in the picture， it could be said that the young boy is no longer fully dependent on her。 I found the setting very refreshing in Three， as I have not read many novels based in Israel and it did help shine some light on the country – place names such as Jerusalem and the Goran Heights may bring to mind television reports from those areas but Three does demonstrate that within these locations there are luxurious and romantic locations for couples to spend time together。The second section of the book focuses on a very different aspect of Israeli society shining a light on the life of immigrants to Israel。 Emilia is from Latvia and has lived in Israel for several years and unlike most residents is nominally a Catholic。 She has moved to Tel Aviv as a live in carer for an elderly man who has suffered a debilitating stroke。 Nachum and his wife Esther are very fond of Emilia， but when he passes away， Esther advises her that she will need to look for alternative employment and accommodation。 While she has the option to return to her home city of Riga， Emilia has no remaining family， she would like to remain in Israel。 It is recommended that she meets Gil for legal advice。 While she has no romantic interest in Gil， it does become clear to her that he is keen for them to meet regularly together。 Again， the information the reader learns from Gil is limited， and does not always tie in with the information that he had earlier given to Orla。 Emilia does have an inquisitive side that is not revealed to Gil and traces of his life extend beyond his knowledge。 While she has started rediscovering her Catholic faith， she has no dependents and nobody would particularly notice her disappearance。The third lady is Ella and again is very different to the two earlier characters。 Married with three children， she is returning to University。 While completing her thesis， she starts to regularly encounter Gil。 After a time she begins to consider the opportunity to have an affair with him。 This makes for a tense read as we are concerned for Ella's wellbeing。 The blurb on the cover of Three makes reference to similarities with George Simenon and Patricia Highsmith， and like both authors Mishani cleverly reveals more to the reader than the characters of the novel。 There is a unconformable yet gripping sense of foreboding to the story that will keep you hooked。 I also particularly admired the translation from Hebrew by Cohen while really made an unsettling story very readable。 The one thing I felt I lacked was a knowledge of the Jewish holidays that were sometimes mentioned in the story。Three is a very unusual and distinct novel， which I’m loathe to discuss in too much detail。 I read Three a month ago I wanted to read this book because I know next to nothing about Israeli literature， having only read a novel by Amos Oz and even that ages ago， and because one of the characters came from Latvia， close to where I was born。 And "Three" did not disappoint: it is a well-crafted murder story in today's world of emails and mobile phones where people leave few traces and evidence is hard to come by。It is perhaps even wrong to call it a murder story。 It is in fact a good psychological novel that offers I wanted to read this book because I know next to nothing about Israeli literature， having only read a novel by Amos Oz and even that ages ago， and because one of the characters came from Latvia， close to where I was born。 And "Three" did not disappoint: it is a well-crafted murder story in today's world of emails and mobile phones where people leave few traces and evidence is hard to come by。It is perhaps even wrong to call it a murder story。 It is in fact a good psychological novel that offers surprises and left me with food for thought， first of all about trusting strangers。 The plot is simple， centres on relationships and loneliness， written in an economical style， but there is a section in the future tense that is imaginative and clever。 Usually I find the explanations at the end - why x murdered y - very weak， but here the author does not even attempt to do so and I applaud that。 However， my biggest surprise came after I had finished the book and spotted a photo of the author on the jacket: D。A。 Mishani turns out to be a man。 And I was convinced that only a woman would write so convincingly about women！ 。。。more

I liked this stand alone Mystery by the Israeli author。 At first it seems to be a regular novel about 2 people who meet each other on a dating app。 Nothing seems unusual。 Then a couple of things seem odd about the man。 Then the novel moved to a second female character’s perspective。 The ending is great。 I really liked how a police officer solves the mystery。The novel could take place anywhere， but there are a few subtle references to Israeli culture。

Das erste Drittel ist so langweilig， dass ich echt dachte， das Buch ist unter dem falschen Genre abgespeichert worden。 Dann kommt allerdings ein Plottwist， den ich NICHT habe kommen gesehen und holla die Waldfee。 Danach wird es spannender und das letzte Drittel ist dann wirklich sehr aufregend und das Ende sehr befriedigend。 Trotzdem eher drei Sterne für den wirklich langsamen Start。

I finished this book in 2 days， it kept me involved to the last page。 Here is not an expected murder mystery but a very interesting insight into simplicity of evil。 How it is easy to overlook and to miss someone’s disturbed and twisted personality under the disguise of normality。 How the psychopath is hidden in the plain sight。 I wish there were more insights into his mind， more psychological explanations of the triggers for his actions。 Overall it was a very engaging book。
