Summary

A promise to stay together。
An unbreakable bond。
A fierce will to survive。

From international bestselling author Heather Morris comes the breathtaking conclusion to The Tattooist of Auschwitz trilogy。

When they are girls, Cibi, Magda and Livia make a promise to their father - that they will stay together, no matter what。

Years later, at just 15 years old, Livia is ordered to Auschwitz by the Nazis。 Cibi, only 19 herself, remembers their promise and follows Livia, determined to protect her sister, or die with her。

In their hometown in Slovakia, 17-year-old Magda hides, desperate to evade the barbaric Nazi forces。 But it is not long before she is captured and condemned to Auschwitz。

In the horror of the death camp, these three beautiful sisters are reunited。 Though traumatised by their experiences, they are together。

They make another promise: that they will live。 Their fight for survival takes them from the hell of Auschwitz, to a death march across war-torn Europe and eventually home to Slovakia, now under iron Communist rule。 Determined to begin again, they embark on a voyage of renewal, to the new Jewish homeland, Israel。

Rich in vivid detail, and beautifully told, Three Sisters will break your heart, but leave you amazed and uplifted by the courage and fierce love of three sisters, whose promise to each other kept them alive。 Two of the sisters are in Israel today, surrounded by family and friends。 They have chosen Heather Morris to reimagine their story in her astonishing new novel, Three Sisters。

Just like the other two that Heather has written, this one is SO good! Having enjoyed The Tattooist of Auschwitz #1, I was excited to have the opportunity to read an advance copy of the third book in this trilogy, The Three Sisters。 Heather Morris has illuminated the astonishing true story of three Slovakian sisters who against all odds manage to stay together through their imprisonments by the Nazi's。 This is a true story which Morris was invited to write by the 93 year-old sister, Livi。 Morris does the story justice。 Her prior knowledge of what life in Auschwitz Having enjoyed The Tattooist of Auschwitz #1, I was excited to have the opportunity to read an advance copy of the third book in this trilogy, The Three Sisters。 Heather Morris has illuminated the astonishing true story of three Slovakian sisters who against all odds manage to stay together through their imprisonments by the Nazi's。 This is a true story which Morris was invited to write by the 93 year-old sister, Livi。 Morris does the story justice。 Her prior knowledge of what life in Auschwitz was like allows her to provide tremendous detail to the story。 We hear, feel, see and even smell the horror through her vivid descriptions。 Her characterizations of the sisters are exceptional。 The heroism of Cibi, the oldest sister, to protect her younger siblings is breathtaking。 The chance of survival in Auschwitz was only 18% and yet thanks to their bond, all three sisters make it。 Morris continues the sisters' story as they emigrate to Israel。 Unlike many historical fiction books about the Holocaust, we experience the emotional scars/ survivor's guilt which afflicts all three sisters。 Masterfully written, The Three Sisters is a unique addition to the repertoire of Holocaust literature。 。。。more

A story of survival。 After effects with anxiety, depression, survivors guilt and PTSD。 Three sisters by Heather Morris tells a story I haven’t heard before。 Starting in Slovakia。 Young girls taken to Auschwitz。 Their survival until the third sister comes。 Sad what these young girls endured。 Heartbreaking they were ever targets。 In the end they over came all odds。 Please to the end including the authors notes。

This book was insightful and thought provoking。 I don’t think I would ever say I ‘enjoy’ reading about this topic, but it was one of the top。

The essence of the book: Cibi tells her sisters, “We are all survivors。 We have all been beaten, starved and tortured, but look at us, we’re still moving, still alive。” Their survival was their justice and retribution toward the Nazis。If you would like to read about true events during a tumultuous period of our history, read and enjoy this book。 I was invited and I volunteered to review an ARC of this book through NetGalley。 I would give it 10 stars if I could。 。。。more

Gut wrenchingly horrific book。 But it deserves to be told。 Because this is a novel, you wonder has it been romanticised? How much has actually been made up and how much is fact。 But it is based on fact and has been approved by the family involved so we take it in faith。 What horrifies me even more than the death camps is what happened afterwards。 When people eventually made it back to their home countries, they were still vilified and discriminated against, their houses taken over by strangers。 Gut wrenchingly horrific book。 But it deserves to be told。 Because this is a novel, you wonder has it been romanticised? A must-read。Starting off, I did read Cilka's Journey by this author and loved it。 I am not usually into reading historical novels, even if they are fictional and especially dealing with real-life events, like the Holocaust。 But Heather Morris writes so very well you are more intrigued about the story that she is telling, not depressed about the actual event (although tragic)。 I will say that I did not enjoy this as much as Cilka's Journey, there was something about the third person point of view A must-read。Starting off, I did read Cilka's Journey by this author and loved it。 I am not usually into reading historical novels, even if they are fictional and especially dealing with real-life events, like the Holocaust。 But Heather Morris writes so very well you are more intrigued about the story that she is telling, not depressed about the actual event (although tragic)。 I will say that I did not enjoy this as much as Cilka's Journey, there was something about the third person point of view writing which didn't work here for me。 I also thought it flipped back and forth too much with timeframes。 And I would have to agree with some other reviews that most of the book deals with Auschwitz and not what the synopsis says。 But I would still highly recommend it。 The strength that is mentioned in it by showing the three sisters and their determination and sacrifices is just so heartbreaking and heart-warming。 It truly makes you stop and think about the thousands that not only had the strength to endure but then carry on after a horror such as they experienced。 The footnotes at the end are a nice touch。 Ms。 Morris did so much research and interviewing for her series of books, I applaud her。4。5 (rounded to 5) starsI received an advanced copy in exchange for my review 。。。more
