Summary

MAN I'm so glad I ended up reading this。 At first, it was a bit hard for me to get into the writing style and use of metaphors and such but I'm glad I kept pushing through。 The imagery, the intensity that goes along with the storyline。 The romance banter and tension。 Even the ending left me itching to read the next book though I have other books lined up to read after this。 Lol The Caraval world and the way it works makes me want to just dive into it more and learn as much of the secrets as I ca MAN I'm so glad I ended up reading this。 At first, it was a bit hard for me to get into the writing style and use of metaphors and such but I'm glad I kept pushing through。 The imagery, the intensity that goes along with the storyline。 The romance banter and tension。 Even the ending left me itching to read the next book though I have other books lined up to read after this。 Lol The Caraval world and the way it works makes me want to just dive into it more and learn as much of the secrets as I can。 I didn't expect to be so blown away by how simply put this was written。 This was such an easy to follow story progression also。 I didn't like Tella at first until closer to the end of the book。 I also didn't care for certain aspects of Scarletts obsession with saving her sister over her own desires but I digress。 This book was amazing and I cannot wait to read through the series。 。。。more

My only complaint is that it’s slightly larger then my largest hardcover and it’s kinda annoying。 I need the aesthetics of everything to line up。 Absolutely loved the book。 10/10 would recommend

Boring character, boring setting, boring plot。

This book was amazing! It definitely reminded me of The Night Circus but was a little less complicated and easier to understand。 I loved to plot and was pretty surprised with all of the twists and turns that went with it。

I hate ScarlettI hate JulianI hate TellaI just hated the characters。The setting is very intriguing and magical, though I really was not into the plot itself。 2 ⭐️ for the author’s writing and effort to create this。 It was just not it。

Foreshadowing? More like fore-fucking sucker punching you in the face。

I’d rate it a 3。5。 Having read some of the reviews of this novel, I award the stars based on it being a YA book。 I feel the imagery and narrative are what would be attractive to a young reader。 As an adult, I would read the other books in this series。

Somewhere between 3 and 4 stars but I’ll round up to 4 because I am now sucked into the Caraval world and need to finished the next 2! The audiobook narrator is phenomenal which helped me round up as well。 What I didn’t love was how juvenile it felt near the end (I get it, they’re young girls who have never left home) but it felt very dramatic。 There are lots of twists and turns, almost too many, which ends up being okay because that’s kind of the point。 Excited to read the rest in this series a Somewhere between 3 and 4 stars but I’ll round up to 4 because I am now sucked into the Caraval world and need to finished the next 2! I LOVED THIS BOOK! The magic and the wonder of Caraval was amazing。 I loved the world and the romance was amazing! Julian forever 🧡 Legend was a fantastic villain in this book and Caraval added so much to his magically dark persona。 10/10 recommend!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫🚨TRIGGER WARNING for abuse🚨Reading Caraval is like running through a fun house— you spend the entire time trying to sift through what’s real and what not… AND I LOVED IT!!!The aesthetic of Caraval is definitely one of a Baz Luhrmann movie (think 2013 The Great Gatsby)!!! It definitely gave me Alice in Wonderland vibes, but more extravagant。 I started reading this book as an escape, and it did not disappoint! It definitely gave me Alice in Wonderland vibes, but more extravagant。 I started reading this book as an escape, and it did not disappoint! Caraval is fun, adventurous, but also full of mystery and thrill。 It does have some fantasy/magical elements, but it’s really only so the cool things can happen。 In my opinion, this is a very low fantasy book, and could appeal to anyone。 Stephanie Garber’s writing and plot lines were also phenomenal。 I can applaud any book that is constantly leaving me guessing。 However, Garber gets extra points for making all of my predictions wrong and surprising me in all of the best ways! I often found myself being misled to believe something just to throw me off, much like Scarlet was during the competition and quest to find her sister。Caraval is the first in a trilogy, and you already know Teddy and I walked to the nearest BN to buy the other two。 If you are wanting a quick escape and love scavenger hunts and solving clues, definitely give this a read! P。S。 Don’t ask me why because it’ll give away too much, but if you love reading domestic thrillers (think Gone Girl)… I think you’d like this book。 。。。more

this story is magical, mysterious and intriguing。 it’s the kind of magic that sets you on a dangerous adventure。 the line between reality and fantasy is so blurred that by the end of the book you realize you are sitting on the edge of your seat。 while reading this book, you simply have no idea what’s waiting for you at the next corner。 the entire book is filled with plot twists and magical happenings。 then why did i give it 3 starts instead of 4/5? because the ending kinda let me down。 it was a this story is magical, mysterious and intriguing。 it’s the kind of magic that sets you on a dangerous adventure。 the line between reality and fantasy is so blurred that by the end of the book you realize you are sitting on the edge of your seat。 while reading this book, you simply have no idea what’s waiting for you at the next corner。 the entire book is filled with plot twists and magical happenings。 then why did i give it 3 starts instead of 4/5? because the ending kinda let me down。 it was a great story that i enjoyed very deeply, but the ending was not as spectacular as i expected it to be。 nevertheless it’s such a unique book and i would definitely recommend it to you! 。。。more

I have recently started reading this book of fantasy and mystery。 I already love the main characters, and are very excited to see how their personalities grow and show themselves。 I love how descriptive the writing is and how magical this universe seems。 I like how the author has a map in the beginning of the book so that the readers have a easier time imagining the layout of this magical land。 Overall I'm positive this is going to be a memorable book, and I hope I love it enough to read the res I have recently started reading this book of fantasy and mystery。 I already love the main characters, and are very excited to see how their personalities grow and show themselves。 I love how descriptive the writing is and how magical this universe seems。 I like how the author has a map in the beginning of the book so that the readers have a easier time imagining the layout of this magical land。 Overall I'm positive this is going to be a memorable book, and I hope I love it enough to read the rest of the series。 。。。more

I picked up Caraval after having read Once Upon a Broken Heart and I although I enjoyed the former it did not enchant me as much as the latter。Still a good start to a series and I will continue on。

I had heard a lot about this book, people always told me how good it was。 At first I really didn’t like it, I found the beginning confusing and uneventful but I am a fast reader so I think that had a lot to do with me not enjoying the beginning。 Halfway through the book I really started to notice relationships forming, it sped up and I started really understanding the plot。 This book was not at all what I was expecting, but the plot was really good and it was definitely worth the read。

It's a game, it's a dream。。。 it's a nightmare。。。 No, it's Caraval。 I am definitely hooked! This whole book felt exactly like a dream, that is slowly turning nightmarish。 The surreal nature of the action left me on the edge of my seat through most of the book, and that's what I loved most about it - the surprises, the fact, that you have no idea where the next scene would lead us。 Nothing seems impossible, and everything is not what it seems :) I loved it ^^ It's a game, it's a dream。。。 it's a nightmare。。。 No, it's Caraval。 I am definitely hooked!

Without spoiling anything, the overall concept was so novel, storyline was very interesting, I did have some reservations about the main protagonist Scarlett in the beginning until middle part of the book。 Her character development towards the end was visible, had great chemistry with her love interest - but her narrative can come across as a bit annoying and juvenile。As long as you're fine to look past that, this book is great - the plot twists are unpredictable and keeps readers on their toes。 Without spoiling anything, the overall concept was so novel, storyline was very interesting, I did have some reservations about the main protagonist Scarlett in the beginning until middle part of the book。 Her character development towards the end was visible, had great chemistry with her love interest - but her narrative can come across as a bit annoying and juvenile。As long as you're fine to look past that, this book is great - the plot twists are unpredictable and keeps readers on their toes。 Its exciting and defo a page turner! 。。。more
