Summary

Between taking night classes for her MBA and her demanding day job at a cruise line, marketing manager Henley Evans barely has time for herself, let alone family, friends, or dating。 But when she’s shortlisted for the promotion of her dreams, all her sacrifices finally seem worth it。

The only problem? Graeme Crawford-Collins, the remote social media manager and the bane of her existence, is also up for the position。 Although they’ve never met in person, their epic email battles are the stuff of office legend。

Their boss tasks each of them with drafting a proposal on how to boost bookings in the Galápagos—best proposal wins the promotion。 There’s just one catch: they have to go on a company cruise to the Galápagos Islands。。。together。 But when the two meet on the ship, Henley is shocked to discover that the real Graeme is nothing like she imagined。 As they explore the Islands together, she soon finds the line between loathing and liking thinner than a postcard。

With her career dreams in her sights and a growing attraction to the competition, Henley begins questioning her life choices。 Because what’s the point of working all the time if you never actually live?

Way cute! Great banter and I while I got strong Hating Game vibes from it, it still stood apart。 I liked that Henley and Graeme didn't really hide their feelings from each other, he straight out asked her why she disliked him so much and she told him。 Will admit, I was starting to get bad vibes from Walsh, but that resolved quick for me。 Was surprised there was no epilogue, I was certain we'd get a time jump showing a "where are they now" a year later, with Walsh on a cruise and Henley and Graem Way cute! Cute likeable characters and an underlying subject of Women in the corporate world。 A subject close to my heart and how women need to be each other's advocates。 Cute likeable characters and an underlying subject of Women in the corporate world。 A subject close to my heart and how women need to be each other's advocates。 。。。more

Unlike some of the others who were disappointed in the ending, I liked the ending the best。 The rest was uninspired。 I suppose if you were reading the book expecting a story where two people hate each other, get unexpectedly thrown together, end up liking each other and thus provide the reader with a couple of hot sex scenes, this was your book。 But how boring is that formula?? Especially when the characters are such stereotypical extremes。 Mid-way through I was contemplating just quitting (sinc Unlike some of the others who were disappointed in the ending, I liked the ending the best。 The rest was uninspired。 I suppose if you were reading the book expecting a story where two people hate each other, get unexpectedly thrown together, end up liking each other and thus provide the reader with a couple of hot sex scenes, this was your book。 But how boring is that formula?? Especially when the characters are such stereotypical extremes。 Mid-way through I was contemplating just quitting (since I already knew how it would turn out) but figured it was a short, quick read so plowed on。 Good thing, because the drama at the end earned it another star。 Mediocre writing did little to prop up a tired plot。 。。。more

More like 2。5。 Enemy to romance books usually make me roll my eyes and this one was no different。 I liked the sister's storyline, though。 More like 2。5。 Enemy to romance books usually make me roll my eyes and this one was no different。 I liked the sister's storyline, though。 。。。more

I would give this book 3。5 stars。 It was really cute and funny but it didn’t blow me away and I didn’t feel and depth to the romance。

It was cute and a very good concept。 You definitely feel yourself wanting to shove Henley and Graeme together。 However, the last bits of it seemed rushed and unsatisfying。

For fans of The Hating Game and The Unhoneymooners? Umm, sorry no。1。 First of all, Graeme。 He was actually nice (yay for non-toxic relationships) but there were two times in the novel when he just completely rubbed me the wrong way。 First of all, when he uses Henley's sister to make her jealous。 To me, this is just weird and gross? Not a smart (or non-creepy) move to pretend to be interested in someone's family member to get their attention。 I know he said he "just" didn't "discourage" her c'mon For fans of The Hating Game and The Unhoneymooners? Not a smart (or non-creepy) move to pretend to be interested in someone's family member to get their attention。 I know he said he "just" didn't "discourage" her c'mons (or whatever his pathetic phrasing was), but that is such a cop-out。 And Henley didn't even pull him up on it, she just went in for a smooch。。 after he has just admitted to leading on her SISTER。 Seriously??? Then when Henley is explaining why she is nervous about starting up a romance with a colleague because she fears being judged at work and she points out that women in these situations are often more unfairly judged than the men (all fair points), and she shares a bad experience she has had with the exact same thing in the past, Graeme is all like "this is a risk for me too" and gets all shitty? I just found his incapability to recognise how sexism in the workplace is a valid concern and Henley had every reason to be nervous (especially when she is up for a promotion) was just bad form。 Especially since she very much turned out to be right, her boss was a pig。2。 Second of all, Henley。 Henley's "hate" of Graeme just came off super petty after a while。 She finds out pretty early on that her big bad reason for disliking him was a misunderstanding, and yet she still acts like a brat。 That whole snorkelling meltdown was just bizarre。 This man decided to do a more average excursion so he could check that you are ok because he knows that you have a childhood trauma to work through in this situation, and then had the patience to make you comfortable in the water and overcome your fears so you could enjoy this incredible experience。。。 and then when you find out about this selfless act。。。 you throw a grade-school-level tantrum about gender politics (or something?) even though it's completely unrelated? Le sigh。3。 The ending。 Man oh man did it drag on。 You could've easily cut four chapters from that book。 I get that a woman proving herself in the workplace was meant to be a theme in this book, but did we need quite so much detail? I。 Just。 Didn't。 Care。 That。 Much。 4。 The dialogue was just too cheesy? When Henley gave her "big speech/apology" my eyes were rolling in the back of my head, it sounded like a hallmark card - "I'm in awe of you。。。 you are the most caring man I have had the privilege of meeting。。。 I will cherish our time together。" Girl, you have known each, like, a week。 Calm down。 Oh and the cabin scene and the "I want to eat you up。" Haha, no。 I just couldn't take it seriously。5。 That scene with the lip sync。 One word: cringe。 Not romantic, CRINGE。 In saying all that, it was a fun enough read overall。 I liked the sister dynamic and I loved the Galapagos Islands setting - it actually really did make me want to travel there (added to the Bucket List)。 。。。more

Loved this one and flew through it in two days! As I’ve seen noted by other, it was a fun little mix between The Unhoneymooners and The Hating Game。 The playful banter between Henley & Graeme and each of their back stories combined with the lush Galápagos Islands setting and both a cruise ship and work competition serving as the main plot points made this a funny and enjoyable rom-com。 4。5 stars!!

This was a cute, but somewhat predictable romance。 It was a fun read。 Henley is up for a promotion。 Her competition is Graham, her arch nemesis。 They are sent on a cruise to the Gzlapagus to duke it out for a job they both want。 There were some funny parts and overall it was entertaining!

One of the best contemporary romance I have read recently! So many important elements weaved into a charming story in a stunning location - young woman navigating her career, sibling relationship, finding love, caring about the environment/doing good, taking risks and standing up for oneself! The male lead is beautifully characterized as a kind, caring, resilient and supportive partner。 Great quick read, highly recommend for fans of feel good books with likeable characters。

A well written book with a smooth plot line and steeped in equality and feminism。

This book is in first person, present tense and begins with a poor-me chapter。 I get that I am alone in finding this type of contemporary romance deeply annoying, but I wish books in first person present tense had a sticker on the front。

3。5 stars。 I’m not a big rom-com fan but I decided I wanted something lighthearted and the Galapagos setting was perfect! This book kept me entertained and I did really enjoy the setting and story。 The writing was a bit cheesy for me but I still found this to be an enjoyable read。

It has a little bit of everything。 It’s funny! It has likeable characters! It has some romance。 And yes, Henley and Graeme are supposed to fall in love but, the romance isn't thrown in your face where it over powers the other good parts of this book。 It is beautifully written! I have not read The Un honeymooners or The Hating Game so I can't say for sure if the comparison is correct。 But from everything that I have seen about this book says they are。 This would be a nice beach read or on a really cold night bundle up and get comfy and crack open this book and let in some warmth in your life! Happy reading everyone! 。。。more

4。5Full of second-hand embarrassment, but it is an incredibly sweet, wholesome, clever, and funny love story。 A perfect summer read, and a good book to switch away from fantasy。 I will re-read this in the future, it was fast-paced, entertaining and so sweet。 It is for sure a well-done mix of The Unhoneymooners and The Hating Game。 I loved Graeme, he was so sweet and understanding, but I found him to be too perfect。 Also, I loved the sister relationship and the bathroom scene where all the ladies 4。5Full of second-hand embarrassment, but it is an incredibly sweet, wholesome, clever, and funny love story。 A perfect summer read, and a good book to switch away from fantasy。 I will re-read this in the future, it was fast-paced, entertaining and so sweet。 It is for sure a well-done mix of The Unhoneymooners and The Hating Game。 I loved Graeme, he was so sweet and understanding, but I found him to be too perfect。 Also, I loved the sister relationship and the bathroom scene where all the ladies got together to take down an abusive and jackass boss。 I adored the happy ending, it was perfect。 Another thing that I enjoyed was seeing the growth that Henley had to go through as a character, instead of telling, the book slowly shows you this growth and learning happening to the character。 She grows and learned to let happiness in and open up to new things (and to take a minute to care for other people's problems, not just herself)。On the other hand, I liked that discussed the difficult struggles of women in the workplace, in meetings, presenting projects, promotions, etc。 I loved to see a career-driven, ambitious, strong woman fighting and learning to advocate for herself, and allow her friends to support her。 Also, I liked that she learns that even if she loved her job, she needed to have a work-life balance, and spend time with her family and friends。 It addressed the abuse of power in the workplace, abusive relationships, and gaslighting (in relationships and in the workplace)。 I admired that the character knows that she isn't always playing in a fair play-field in comparison with her male co-workers, and she's ready to fight for the position that she wants。 Moreover, it showed that it isn't necessary to make other women the villain to add drama to the story。 It showed that we are past the time where we needed women hating each other for the sake of drama, instead, they are supporting and building each other up。 As a bonus, I loved the pets of both characters, they are meant to be together just for that。 。。。more

Most of the story was set on a small scale cruise ship, cruising the Galápagos Islands。 It was the perfect read during this pandemic/no travel time。 I loved the main character and loved the ending!

Enemies to lovers with an adventure cruise to the Galápagos Islands? Yes please! The characters were complex and dealt with their issues and conflicts and the author’s note was a great way to end。

A fun and fast read! Cute and relatable characters。 A story line that doesn’t seem to much of a fantasy。 I look forward to more from this author!

The perfect escape from a rainy British winter。 Two rivals for a job are sent on a working trip to the Galápagos and start to fall for each other。 The setting is original, and the love interest is appealing。 I would have liked a bit more emphasis on the romance, and to have spent more time with the developing relationship, because they were so cute together, but the subplots of Henley’s work issues and her friends lives sometimes overshadowed it。

Amy Lynn

Cute love story in the Galopagos! I really loved this story about a love story that happened aboard a cruise ship over a job promotion。 I really liked learning about all the unique sea life and culture of the Galopagos。 It is an inspiring story that also encourages change in the world。
