Summary

Spend your winter on sunlit shores in the New York Times bestselling follow-up to Winter in Paradise, as secret lives and new loves emerge under the bright Caribbean sky。

A year ago, Irene Steele had the shock of her life: her loving husband, father to their grown sons and successful businessman, was killed in a helicopter crash。 But that wasn't Irene's only shattering news: he'd also been leading a double life on the island of St。 John, where another woman loved him, too。

Now Irene and her sons are back on St。 John, determined to learn the truth about the mysterious life—and death—of a man they thought they knew。 Along the way, they're about to learn some surprising truths about their own lives, and their futures。

Lush with the tropical details, romance, and drama that made Winter in Paradise a national bestseller, What Happens in Paradise is another immensely satisfying page-turner from one of America's most beloved and engaging storytellers。

I liked the book, a good beach read, but was disappointed that the ending just prepped for the 3rd book without and type of closure。 Granted it is a series, I just expect something, not a complete cliff hanger。

Gotta read #3。 Off to the library。

3。5 rounded down。 I felt like a lot of this book was background for the impending third book in the series。 Just when things started to get good, the book was over! I did; however, enjoy reading Rosie’s perspective and learning more about the Steele family and the other cast of characters。 And at the end of the day, I can’t wait to read the final book in the series。

Book read for: #BookSpinBingo, #24in4 Readathon #2021Goals (Litsy); #2021Goals; #GR52BooksRoundTheYear challenge #13Book 2 in this trilogy。 The family drama continues。 We will know more about each character but things are getting complicated, expected in illegal actions, so sad for the family who were not part of that illegal actions。 I was annoyed with some characters decisions but that was part of the drama。 Fast read, good summer read, you will feel that are in the Caribbean yourself in the w Book read for: #BookSpinBingo, #24in4 Readathon #2021Goals (Litsy); #2021Goals; #GR52BooksRoundTheYear challenge #13Book 2 in this trilogy。 The family drama continues。 We will know more about each character but things are getting complicated, expected in illegal actions, so sad for the family who were not part of that illegal actions。 I was annoyed with some characters decisions but that was part of the drama。 Fast read, good summer read, you will feel that are in the Caribbean yourself in the way author describes the island surroundings。 3。8/4⭐️ 。。。more

I read Elin Hilderbrand's first book in this series and enjoyed it。 This one not as much。 It seemed to be more of a "filler" without a lot of substance。 Perhaps it was meant to just give more of the back story。 Will wait for the last book of the series for the story to come to a conclusion。 I read Elin Hilderbrand's first book in this series and enjoyed it。 This one not as much。 It seemed to be more of a "filler" without a lot of substance。 Perhaps it was meant to just give more of the back story。 Will wait for the last book of the series for the story to come to a conclusion。 。。。more

I want to buy these people condoms and also explain the 7th commandment。 But I’ll also have to read the third book to find out what happens - after I shower myself off, lol。

Keeps on getting better。 Ordered the third book before finishing the second in the trilogy。

Warning: Spoilers。This book can be summed up in two sentences: The Steele family travels back to the states only to realize they all want to be back on St。 John, so they go back to St。 John and find jobs and decide to settle in there。 While they are all busy doing that, federal agents are still looking into Russ's estate and death。 The end。 Man I hope the third book actually has some context。 If you read the first book, you can probably be safe and skip this one and go right to the third! Yikes。 You can skip 290 pages and read the end。 What a disappointment。

Strangely, I did not find this to be a good book yet I still somewhat enjoyed it。 It’s quite ridiculous, so many misunderstandings and cat and mouse games。 And same issue I had with the first book in the series…。 Infidelity。 But all that said I’m kinda invested in the characters and for straight fluff it was alright。 Will probably read book 3 just because I’ve come this far。 And again, love the St。 John setting。

6。5/10 reading it mostly for the location。 I like getting more of Rosie’s backstory in this book

This book is an exciting suspense full read。 I usually pick a Hilerbrand book as my summer read and this did not disappoint。

Katie

Not much action。 Just moved the plot along to set up the finale。

Donna Podeszek

Great series。 I can’t wait to red the next book

Jami Brayton

1st book was definitely way better than the 2nd book!

I’m so grateful that this series is a trilogy because one cannot help but get attached to these characters (as is the case with all her books)。 I could not put this book down! The mystery is simply too alluring!!!

What a great trilogy。 Had me on the edge of my seat。

Part 2 in the series met my need for a light summer beach read by transporting me to the island of St。 John where characters were pursuing their soulmates。

Hilderbrand certainly knows how to leave a book as a cliff hanger。 This is the second book in what I call "The Paradise" stories and of course I had to get the third one。 I just simply needed to find out what happened! This story is one about a man who led a double life and the story is coming to a culmination。 What will happen to Irene, the wife the man leaves behind? Was his "accident" an accident or was it an act of murder? There are also many small love stories in the plot and it would be int Hilderbrand certainly knows how to leave a book as a cliff hanger。 This is the second book in what I call "The Paradise" stories and of course I had to get the third one。 I just simply needed to find out what happened! Great audio to listen to in the studio。 What's not to love - great storytelling and it takes place in St。 Johns, Virgin Islands! The 2nd book was not as good as the 1st。 Slow moving and not much of a story till the end

Kayla Pilcher

This felt like a REALLY long bridge to get to the third book。 Not nearly as investing or page-turning。 Was an okay read overall but not what I was hoping for after the first book。

Michelle Sidel

Great series!
