This book is a first series a book that looks like its going be a three book set which i would happen to read, because i must say i did like the characters in this book with me loving adam and megan as a duo seeing it that it lovely to see a friendship that is based on trust and they are defeo each other ride or die, which is evidenced in the way they go out of their way to help each other all the way through the book and how they have each other backs so they look out for each other and take ca This book is a first series a book that looks like its going be a three book set which i would happen to read, because i must say i did like the characters in this book with me loving adam and megan as a duo seeing it that it lovely to see a friendship that is based on trust and they are defeo each other ride or die, which is evidenced in the way they go out of their way to help each other all the way through the book and how they have each other backs so they look out for each other and take care of each other so they are a great match with it evidenced that they have a lot of love for each otherShout out to their set of friends, who are a great set of characters too and its great when they are all together because you can see that they all enjoy their time together and really relish their time with each other。 These relationships by the end of this books are changing which is evidenced through out the book, with it hinting that these characters are going to be romantically linked together at this point or maybe further on in their livesI must say the most shocking factor of this book for me was the violence itself and the measures that this cult would go to kill people, with it really shocking me and really taking my breath away because this certainty dont give these people an easy death。 The other factor that is shocking about this book, is how desensitized and used to the violence these people seem to be especially the young people in the book who seem not just desensitized to the violence, but actully enjoying the violence and enjoy having that power over their victim。I must say this cult of crazy people picked the wrong person to be his final lamb to the slaughter because they really did not know who they were messing, with him proving that they should of just left him alone seeing that their life would been easier and it would have proved to be less fatal then them。 I loved watching adam fight his way out of this situation with me wanting him to win so he gained my favour and my backing, so i really enjoy seeing that fire that burned bright in him with him coming across as very strong and tough but lets see if he can beat his next challenge which is teased in the closing chapterI must say the book writing was very basic at times but it was clean and precise with it being easy to understand what is going on, so i appreacited a simple style to convey what is going on with this simple style of writing being another postive factor of this book 。。。more

Wasn’t really a mystery, more of a suspense, but still a very interesting book to read, currently reading Spiders which is the sequel to this。 The plot was quite good, and it was very enjoyable, but it didn’t feel very original, everything was quite good but the book was just as good as an average good book, it didn’t really stand out to me。 Still enjoyed it, hoping the sequel has more to promise。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I found this book by chance but when I saw the cover and blurb, I was intrigued。 « Thirteen » started off with a quick pace explaining how Adam came to be adopted and not know his real birth date as well as The People’s implication and objectives。 The storyline that follows is ok : a regular 13 year old’s life that turned upside down when The People tried to strike。 However, a few questions remain unanswered at the end in my opinion。 1。 Why did Adam have an unexplainable moment of rage where he I found this book by chance but when I saw the cover and blurb, I was intrigued。 « Thirteen » started off with a quick pace explaining how Adam came to be adopted and not know his real birth date as well as The People’s implication and objectives。 The storyline that follows is ok : a regular 13 year old’s life that turned upside down when The People tried to strike。 However, a few questions remain unanswered at the end in my opinion。 1。 Why did Adam have an unexplainable moment of rage where he didn’t seem to have control over what he was doing ? - I honestly thought there was going to be some explanation for that at the end。2。 What happened to Adam’s parents (or adopted parents) ? - They were in the hospital and injured, which is quite worrying, but there’s absolutely no mention of them at the end。 I would expect a brief mention of them。3。 How do Megan and Adam feel after all the events ? They went to the police and acted as if nothing happened; no trauma, no bad memories that haunt them… It’s great for those characters but it’s not realistic : Adam witnessed a friend die and Megan was essentially tortured and almost died herself。 How do they just go back to normal ?Moreover, Viper and Coron’s death, with Megan and Adam being in danger, was well written。 The parallel between what was happening with the gong of the clock created a fast pace and dramatic effect。Would I recommend this book ? No。 It’s not a terrible book but it’s nothing exceptional either。It could be interesting to read if you’re interested in how cults work and think, or if you’re looking for a random read that’s easy。 Just don’t expect it to be something amazing。 。。。more

(3/5) 2 hours 33 minutes - The storyline was very engaging, albeit unrealistic a lot of the time。 The characters were interesting enough but lacked depth or character development most of the time which could have made this book even better。 The writing style was simplistic, but I didn't mind this that much - in some places I felt it fit the story pretty well。 Sometimes, however, it was too simplistic, and fell into the trap of 'telling not showing'。 Overall, this book was action-packed and enjoy (3/5) 2 hours 33 minutes - The storyline was very engaging, albeit unrealistic a lot of the time。 The characters were interesting enough but lacked depth or character development most of the time which could have made this book even better。 The writing style was simplistic, but I didn't mind this that much - in some places I felt it fit the story pretty well。 Sometimes, however, it was too simplistic, and fell into the trap of 'telling not showing'。 Overall, this book was action-packed and enjoyable to read, but had great potential and fell a bit short of what it could have been。 。。。more

Quick blurb - 📖Adam grant was born at the stroke of midnight of the new millennium, making him the target of a cult with their crazed leader Coron, who believe that boys born at this time must die before they turn fourteen, which in his eyes makes them an adult。 Killing these boys, in the eyes of the cult - named ‘the people’ - will bring the new kingdom with Coron and ‘the master’ enough power to take over the world。 Coron and his cult kill twelve of the boys born at this time but killing Adam Quick blurb - 📖Adam grant was born at the stroke of midnight of the new millennium, making him the target of a cult with their crazed leader Coron, who believe that boys born at this time must die before they turn fourteen, which in his eyes makes them an adult。 Killing these boys, in the eyes of the cult - named ‘the people’ - will bring the new kingdom with Coron and ‘the master’ enough power to take over the world。 Coron and his cult kill twelve of the boys born at this time but killing Adam turns out to be a lot harder then Coron had hoped, making them more convinced that Adam is the evil one that must be killed to allow the new rein of ‘the people’ to come into play。 Adam must survive until after is fourteenth birthday, but who can help him survive a cult that has, what seems, unlimited resources and people everywhere。 My review - ⭐️⭐️⭐️A slow burner for me to begin with。 I enjoyed it when I was reading it but didn’t feel enticed to pick the book up to continue reading it。 That being said, by half way through the book, it got a lot more interesting for me and I found myself making more time to read it and found myself glued to the pages。 The cult leader Coron is a crazed man who strangely intrigued me and was actually, for me the strongest character。 The plot of the story was fantastic, original and to be honest very possible in real life。 I think the reason I had issues with the book to begin with, was that I didn’t connect with the main character, Adam。 I’m not fully sure why; but throughout the book I just didn’t seem to care too much about the character which obviously isn’t good when he’s the one being chased by a crazed cult that are wanting to kill him。 I will be reading the sequel to this book as the first finished with a little cliff hanger and I’m a very curious person…。。plus I want to see what happens to ‘the people’ more then what actually happens to Adam。 All in all, the book has a fantastic plot and some very strong characters, intense storylines that make you want to keep reading but it just missed something…。not exactly sure what though 🤔😕 。。。more

I read it because it has an interesting concept。 I had to laugh at some of the dialogue - it was a little over the top, super villiany。 But all in all I liked it, and will probably read the next book in the series at some point。

This was a good book and I enjoyed the story, but it was a little unnerving to think it’s possible for people to behave the way this group did。

GOOD READ THOUGH FOR OLDER CHIDRENThis book caught my attention in the store because I am a fan of thriller action novels。 It is remarkably interesting but violent at times and also dark and evil。 The book itself is quite educating and it shows how evil people can be。 12-whatever age 😁

I have to say that I loved this book from start to finish! Thede was a lot of dialogue and interaction between characters, they was just enough action throughout that it didn't take over from the big piece of action that it was building up to。 Overall, it was just a well balanced, action filled book。 This is definitely one of those books that I think will be easy for most people to read and is definitely one that can be read more than once。 It's a great introduction to YA Action/Thriller (a soft I have to say that I loved this book from start to finish! Don’t listen to the people who say this book was bad - they’re just undedicated quitters who read 3 pages, decided they didn’t like it and chucked it away。 Thirteen was one of the best, most exhilarating books I ever read。 If you like Alex Rider or something similar, I strongly urge you read this book。 I couldn’t put the book down and ended up reading it all day until it was finished。 Sure, it might be a little scary for some readers, but as a 12 year old myself, I can say most of the parts are Don’t listen to the people who say this book was bad - they’re just undedicated quitters who read 3 pages, decided they didn’t like it and chucked it away。 Thirteen was one of the best, most exhilarating books I ever read。 If you like Alex Rider or something similar, I strongly urge you read this book。 I couldn’t put the book down and ended up reading it all day until it was finished。 Sure, it might be a little scary for some readers, but as a 12 year old myself, I can say most of the parts are nothing a mature child can’t handle。 There are some violent and gory scenes, so maybe refrain from reading if you’re 11 or under。 But other than that, I strongly recommend。 。。。more

This book was very addictive but also a bit dark。 If you get disturbed quite easily then this isn't a book for you。 It is about a cult who believes that people born on the minute of 2000 ad should be killed before their 14th birthday。 The book is from the perspective of the cult leader named Coron and a young boy called Adam who was born on 2000 ad。 If the child survives before it's 14th birthday, it is believed that they will take of the world。 Another man called Simon escaped from the cult and This book was very addictive but also a bit dark。 If you get disturbed quite easily then this isn't a book for you。 It is about a cult who believes that people born on the minute of 2000 ad should be killed before their 14th birthday。 The book is from the perspective of the cult leader named Coron and a young boy called Adam who was born on 2000 ad。 If the child survives before it's 14th birthday, it is believed that they will take of the world。 Another man called Simon escaped from the cult and tries to help Adam survive。 The ending was decent and the full story is very quirky。 I think people ages 13-18 would enjoy this book as well as mature 12 year old's and people above the age of 18。 。。。more

This book was the first thriller novel I had ever read and boy was it a page turner。 I read this book when I was 11 going on 12 years old which I suppose was quite young but I've always been quite mature for my age。 Surprisingly I actually learnt a lot from this book。 This book was the first thriller novel I had ever read and boy was it a page turner。 I read this book when I was 11 going on 12 years old which I suppose was quite young but I've always been quite mature for my age。 Surprisingly I actually learnt a lot from this book。 。。。more

It's ok, definitely a YA read。 I found some descriptions a little patronising/corny。 But it is aimed at a younger audience so I'll forgive that。 Fast paced and certainly manages to successfully create a scary cult world。 It's ok, definitely a YA read。 I found some descriptions a little patronising/corny。 But it is aimed at a younger audience so I'll forgive that。 Fast paced and certainly manages to successfully create a scary cult world。 。。。more

Thirteen boys born at midnight of the year 2000 in London are marked for death by a mad and evil cult leader who calls himself Lord Coron。 The belief is that if any of the boys survive, they will be a danger to Coron and his new kingdom。 An exciting but hardly original premise here。 If you think about it, there is a strong Potter influence there, and it also has traces of "I am Number Four" and other stories。 Still, original or not, it makes for a good story。Except in this case it sadly did not。 Thirteen boys born at midnight of the year 2000 in London are marked for death by a mad and evil cult leader who calls himself Lord Coron。 The belief is that if any of the boys survive, they will be a danger to Coron and his new kingdom。 An exciting but hardly original premise here。 If you think about it, there is a strong Potter influence there, and it also has traces of "I am Number Four" and other stories。 Still, original or not, it makes for a good story。Except in this case it sadly did not。 I had to check that this was not self published as from the start the prose and especially the dialogue was somewhat stilted, and the novel has a major and quite basic fault with point of view, which jumps from head to head in a confusing manner, and is interspersed with omniscient point of view。 Omniscient point of view is rare for a reason, and this novel shows why。 The point of view should have been picked up by an editor, and I am unclear how this one got through editing unscathed。Characterisation is poor, perhaps because of the use of omniscient point of view。 The plot has some strengths though。 It is somewhat gory and violent, and you see that up front with a couple of early deaths, but the action is good。 Nevertheless the plot has holes。 It is not clear why Lord Coron has the following he has, and especially how he suddenly goes from a following of the dispossessed to having people at the very highest levels doing his bidding。 He is an under-developed and quite unbeleivable super villain。 Also it is not explained what is special about London births, and (for the pedantic) what is special about the year 2,000 when the millennium starts the following year! Okay that last one is overly pedantic。 Ignore that。There are other plot holes too, and I could go on, but in summary, this is an exciting if unoriginal story idea that is poorly executed but could be forgiven by a young and forgiving tween readership in favour of some good action and adventure。 Yet there are better books out there。 。。。more

A fun read all about the disastrous impacts of cults, with it not being too gory, violent or weird to prove its point。It also explores the relationship between adults and children very well, especially how often children's intelligence and interpretation of events are often disregarded by adults。 A fun read all about the disastrous impacts of cults, with it not being too gory, violent or weird to prove its point。It also explores the relationship between adults and children very well, especially how often children's intelligence and interpretation of events are often disregarded by adults。 。。。more

This book can keep you up at night! To be honest, I found the plot of the story a bit different- weird, but I still loved it。 I think I liked it more because I could fit my self in the story perfectly, like I was living it。 One thing this book has changed for me is that now, when I go to Trafalgar Square, I make sure to realise every detail suggesting a threat, maybe not for me but maybe, one day it may save someone else。 Personally, my favourite character was Simon; even thought there isn’t muc This book can keep you up at night!
