Wow! Amazing artwork and wonderful message about inclusivity and diversity。

This books talks about every person in this world being different and unique。 In the entire world there is diversity of people everywhere you go。 It talks about the differences in hair types, the way we look, our feet, hands, food, color of eyes, shapes of eyes。 Also about how for example people here in the US do not dress up like the people from India。 Even the climate is different for some people。 It is great to know that our Creator created us different with special abilities to integrate in This books talks about every person in this world being different and unique。 In the entire world there is diversity of people everywhere you go。 It talks about the differences in hair types, the way we look, our feet, hands, food, color of eyes, shapes of eyes。 Also about how for example people here in the US do not dress up like the people from India。 Even the climate is different for some people。 It is great to know that our Creator created us different with special abilities to integrate in the right time。 It would not be great if we all looked the same, eat the same thing at the same time。 Nor go everywhere together。 It would just be sad and not see the qualities we all have。 。。。more

I read this book to my kids, ages 9, 7, and 4。 It was such a great way to start conversations about people and things they didn’t know about。 I would highly recommend to anyone with kids!

Introduces the concept that there are a LOT of people in the world and they are all very different。 Ages 4+

Loved the contrast, details about different people groups and how they differ from each other。 Shows children we are all different and doesn't conclude that one way of celebrating, dressing, looking is best or worst。 Loved the contrast, details about different people groups and how they differ from each other。 Shows children we are all different and doesn't conclude that one way of celebrating, dressing, looking is best or worst。 。。。more

This story written and illustrated by Peter Spier is a great picture book showing all the different kinds of people that make up our world。 Although it is an older story, I do think it is still relative。 It celebrates our differences and shows that they are what make us beautiful and unique。 This story really could be used for any age to show the beauty and differences that we all have。 There are no main characters, this story just really shows how people from all around the world do things diff This story written and illustrated by Peter Spier is a great picture book showing all the different kinds of people that make up our world。 Although it is an older story, I do think it is still relative。 It celebrates our differences and shows that they are what make us beautiful and unique。 This story really could be used for any age to show the beauty and differences that we all have。 There are no main characters, this story just really shows how people from all around the world do things differently。 The illustrations are beautiful and show the beauty in our differences。 I think any child could benefit from this story。 I don't dislike anything about this story, I think the message is so important and just shows how beautiful it is to be different and that it is amazing that we have so many differences and they make us beautiful。 I would use this story in my classroom and show my students that they are all represented in this story, I would also show them how beautiful it is that we come from all around the world and that we all have different things that are different about ourselves and that is what makes us beautifully unique。 Overall I think this is a great story to show students that it is amazing to not all be exactly the same and that we should celebrate our differences and uniqueness。 。。。more

Great for teaching kids about diversity

Ages 4 and up。 Available in German。 A superbly illustrated celebration of human beings and cultures all around the world。 We have different skin colors, noses, hair styles, holidays, favorite foods, writing systems, hobbies, and homes, but we’re all people。 Written and illustrated by Holocaust survivor Peter Spier。

Best book everGreat illustrations and such a great set of messages。 I bought this for the kindle just to have。 30 years it opened my eyes to why diversity is great and everyone’s body shape is wonderfully different。

Benedetta

Bought this to help my very young children (in a very homogeneous community) see the beautiful diversity in our world。 It is wonderful for reading and discussing together, but also good for them to page through on their own。 So many thoughtful illustrations here。 Highly recommend as a first step of intentional cultural diversity exposure。

Lovely book that cherishes and celebrates diversity and (almost) turns Otherness on its head。 Would have liked to see more modern faces of indigeneity / urban indigenous people。

There are so many different ways to be a human! Every teacher should share this book with their students, although a "You might see a butt" disclaimer may be necessary。 There are so many different ways to be a human! I checked this book out from the library all the time as a kid, and it recently snuck back into my memory。 It’s still beautiful and fascinating, and looking over all the details in the illustrations is fantastic。 Seeing all the pictures I remember from that library book again is such an odd and marvelous feeling。

A lovely picture-book that demonstrates to the reader all the very different PEOPLE who make up our world! This books celebrates and demonstrates diversity in multiple senses of the word。 Each person on the earth is different and this nice little book reminds us we are just one of billions! Nice illustrations; an enjoyable (and perhaps, important) read for any age。

I wish I'd found this book 30 years ago! The kids would have enjoyed it。I inserted a sticky note showing the world population for each decade starting in 1950In some ways, this is an historical look at cultures; clothing styles and customs have been converging。 I wish I'd found this book 30 years ago!
