Summary

He walks the red carpet。 She’s more familiar with vacuuming one。

When a scandal tarnishes the reputation of hot as hell A-lister, Patrick Walsh, he needs a reputation rescue, pronto。

Enter waitress Norah Peers–a nobody who’s average with a capital A。 She’s available, dependable, and has sworn off men for the rest of her natural born life。 In other words: the perfect match for a no-strings fake romance。

For the right amount of money, she can avoid waitressing and play the part of his dependable down-to-earth girlfriend。 What she can’t avoid–dammit–is the growing steam between them。

But being hounded by the paparazzi and having your life dissected on social media is a panic attack in the making。 And while Patrick might be a charming rogue on screen, in real life he’s a six-foot-two confusing, gorgeous, brooding grump, who keeps her at a distance 。 。 。 but also makes her feel like this bond between them might be more than just an act。

Being dumped on cue should be no big deal。 Except being fake with Patrick is the realist relationship Norah has ever had。 What’s a girl to do, but flip the script, and ask for a rematch made in Hollywood?

I want to start by saying I like this book and I like Kylie Scott。 With that understanding this is probably a 3。5 for me。 It would have been a solid 4 if I had listened to it as an audio book I think。 It didn’t really support the level of focus it got from me straight reading it。 There just wasn’t enough there to support the amount of focus reading actual words causes。

3。5 starsI took me a few chapters to get into the story, but it I was eventually able to get a sense of it and the characters。 Like every other Kylie Scott book, I enjoyed this, but I would have liked it a bit more if it were longer。 Our main couple and their relationship just didn't have enough room to breathe。 Their Happily Ever After would have been more convincing if we had just been able to spend a bit more time with them。 3。5 starsI took me a few chapters to get into the story, but it I was eventually able to get a sense of it and the characters。 Like every other Kylie Scott book, I enjoyed this, but I would have liked it a bit more if it were longer。 Our main couple and their relationship just didn't have enough room to breathe。 Their Happily Ever After would have been more convincing if we had just been able to spend a bit more time with them。 。。。more

I adored this book, what would of pushed it to 5 would of been if I could of had Paddy's POV。I love Kylie Scott's books,I just wish we could get the guys POV。The humour is brilliant and the steam is just perfect。 If you love a good grumpy/Sunshine slow burn, this is the book for you☺️ I adored this book, what would of pushed it to 5 would of been if I could of had Paddy's POV。I love Kylie Scott's books,I just wish we could get the guys POV。The humour is brilliant and the steam is just perfect。 If you love a good grumpy/Sunshine slow burn, this is the book for you☺️ 。。。more

Liked it。 Didn’t love it。 No cliffhangerStandaloneTold from female POV onlyHollywood star dates normal girl romanceI love this author so I was so excited for this book。 As my title mentions though, I didn’t love it the way I thought I would。 Don’t get me wrong, it’s a good book。 I think I was just either expecting more angst or I was hoping to have at least a few chapters from the male POV。 Honestly both。 Not having the male POV left me feeling like I don’t really know Patrick at all。 You knew t Liked it。 Didn’t love it。 No cliffhangerStandaloneTold from female POV onlyHollywood star dates normal girl romanceI love this author so I was so excited for this book。 As my title mentions though, I didn’t love it the way I thought I would。 Don’t get me wrong, it’s a good book。 I think I was just either expecting more angst or I was hoping to have at least a few chapters from the male POV。 Honestly both。 Not having the male POV left me feeling like I don’t really know Patrick at all。 You knew the entire time how Norah’s feelings were progressing but a lot of the interactions with Patrick I felt like I couldn’t tell what was real and what was part of their “arrangement”。 Norah was an amazing character though。 She cracked me up with her quick wit and her grandmother was great too。 Almost wish we got more of the grandma! As a quick summary, Patrick is a famous actor who is trying to clean up his image so he enlists Norah’s help to fake being his “normal girl” girlfriend and later fiancé。 At first they are all business but eventually they cross the line and things get a bit blurred。 Norah is left wondering what’s real and what’s just for show to help his career。 And what happens when their plan works and he gets the offer of a lifetime? Is their time together over or will they have developed strong enough feelings to make a real go of it? All in all a good book and I will definitely still be reading anything this author publishes, this just wasn’t my favorite from her。 。。。more

So, I had a lot of doubts walking into this one。 I love the idea of it, I’m always a fan of a good Cinderella type story。 Unfortunately every time I’ve tempted to read one they’ve been a major let down。 I’m only 11% in but I’m loving the low key, down to earth feel of Patrick Walsh。 I like his quiet awkwardness。 Norah is great too with a sarcastic sense of humor and an easy going nature。 I can sense even though their chemistry is clumsy at best right now that it’s bound to grow slowly but surely So, I had a lot of doubts walking into this one。 I love the idea of it, I’m always a fan of a good Cinderella type story。 Unfortunately every time I’ve tempted to read one they’ve been a major let down。 I’m only 11% in but I’m loving the low key, down to earth feel of Patrick Walsh。 I like his quiet awkwardness。 Norah is great too with a sarcastic sense of humor and an easy going nature。 I can sense even though their chemistry is clumsy at best right now that it’s bound to grow slowly but surely and that’s perfect。 It’s real which is exactly what our H was looking for in an “average” girl。 For so long I avoided slow burns and I forgot how great they are。 How sexy。 The littlest things like brushing the back of her neck or thumbing sugar off of her lip is irresistibly hot。 His hunt for the right pet name might be the most charming thing ever。Norah’s grandmother is a spitfire and adorably protective。 The fact that Patrick agreed to go toe to toe with her wasn’t only endearing, it was sexy af。 My one and only complaint; I want his POV。 At the same time I know it would take away from the slow burn but that doesn’t change the fact that I crave his inner monologue。 Is there a book about Jack? Not normally a fan of rockstar romance but I’d make an exception for him。 Oh man, this was too flipping cute! I really didn’t want it to end。 。。。more

I’m shocked to say this, because I usually like Kylie’s work。 But this was lacking on so many levels to me。 If this was a film, Patrick had the least amount of lines。 And because he didn’t say much, it was hard to get the connection these two supposedly felt and had。 Also, there were moments of miscommunication, that didn’t seem to be addressed。 For example, his report of how they met。 It felt like that was actually true, but Norah is questioning if this is the “fake” story or actually real。 Wel I’m shocked to say this, because I usually like Kylie’s work。 But this was lacking on so many levels to me。 If this was a film, Patrick had the least amount of lines。 And because he didn’t say much, it was hard to get the connection these two supposedly felt and had。 Also, there were moments of miscommunication, that didn’t seem to be addressed。 For example, his report of how they met。 It felt like that was actually true, but Norah is questioning if this is the “fake” story or actually real。 Well that is never cleared up。 I suppose it’s up to us to interpret。 Either way- I just didn’t like it。 。。。more

Fake is, honestly, nothing new。 Nothing I haven't read before (actually, it reminds me a lot of some other book, but I'm not sure which one)。 But I liked both main characters and it did keep me entertained, so there's that。 Fake is, honestly, nothing new。 Nothing I haven't read before (actually, it reminds me a lot of some other book, but I'm not sure which one)。 But I liked both main characters and it did keep me entertained, so there's that。 。。。more

3。5 starsI always love first person from the heroine's perspective。 I even avoided reading books that didn't have this type of narrative。However, I would die to get the hero's perspective in this book。 He was so stoic and restrained that I want to know what the hell he was thinking sometimes。So, basically this is a fake relationship trope between a scandalized movie star and an waitress。 He hired her to get himself out of this big scandal for six months in exchange of money。I wish this book was 3。5 starsI always love first person from the heroine's perspective。 I even avoided reading books that didn't have this type of narrative。However, I would die to get the hero's perspective in this book。 He was so stoic and restrained that I want to know what the hell he was thinking sometimes。So, basically this is a fake relationship trope between a scandalized movie star and an waitress。 He hired her to get himself out of this big scandal for six months in exchange of money。I wish this book was longer, like 500 pages longer。 I can see the potential in this book (despite the Hollywood thing) because the slow burn thing was almost perfect。 。。。more

3。5 stars First things first, I need to say that Kylie Scott is one of my go to romance writers whenever I need to read something nice, light, funny, sweet - you get the gist。 I know for a fact that even the worst she can do will still be pretty good for me。 So with that in mind, I’ll say that I liked this book。 Not loved but liked。 Overall it was exactly what I thought it would be and the only place I found it lacking was in the chemistry between the leads。 Not to say, that there was none, bu 3。5 stars First things first, I need to say that Kylie Scott is one of my go to romance writers whenever I need to read something nice, light, funny, sweet - you get the gist。 I know for a fact that even the worst she can do will still be pretty good for me。 So with that in mind, I’ll say that I liked this book。 Not loved but liked。 Overall it was exactly what I thought it would be and the only place I found it lacking was in the chemistry between the leads。 Not to say, that there was none, but something just didn’t click for me。 The main characters were pretty typical。 He was a man of few words, she was blunt, honest and not impressed by his wealth and success。 It was his abs and irresistible smile that did it for her lol。 She was “not like other girls” BUT it didn’t come off in that problematic way we see everywhere。 I’d say it was a bit of a Cinderella story but much less dramatic。 Realistic!? Not at all! But I was looking to escape reality so that worked great for me。 One thing I always appreciate in Kylie’s stories is that there isn’t any over the top drama even if the setup of the stories themselves is unlikely。 Also, the characters always feel very human and real in their interactions and dialogue。 This wasn’t one of my favourite books by her but it was a good, quick little read。 。。。more

First of all, I want to make clear that I think Scott has an appealing writing style。 The overall delivery of the plot is engaging。 The protagonist, Norah, is entertaining and the dialogue is hilarious。 Now to my points: The editing of this book is almost cinematic in a way。 It's quick and keeps to the high points, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but it runs the risk of losing readers because certain details (backgrounds, quirks, foundation establishment) that could help them connect with First of all, I want to make clear that I think Scott has an appealing writing style。 The overall delivery of the plot is engaging。 The protagonist, Norah, is entertaining and the dialogue is hilarious。 Now to my points: The editing of this book is almost cinematic in a way。 It's quick and keeps to the high points, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but it runs the risk of losing readers because certain details (backgrounds, quirks, foundation establishment) that could help them connect with the characters are omitted。 Each scene is set up a little too briefly, if the setting is described at all。 This might be a case of the author already having fully painted the scene in her mind, but forgetting the readers don't know what anything looks like。 It's not an unpardonable misstep。 After all, that's what a reader's imagination is for BUT it does make things a bit hard to follow。 There are some scenes in the first 30% where if you squint really hard it would be insta-love。 It's fine by me, of course, but it might be an issue for some。 I like an aloof hottie as much as the next person, but aloof hotties should be dismissive to the rest of the world, NOT their partners。 I would have liked a little more depth to Paddy because he had a lot of potential to be an excellent love interest。 Overall, it's an enjoyable read, but there's room for improvement。 I'll definitely check out the rest of the author's works, seeing as how this one is the first in a series。 Note: Scott did mention one of my favorite authors, Lucy Parker, within the novel。。。 so I commend her taste。 。。。more

Great sexy romance! This story was refreshing! The primary characters are really likeable and relatable。 I really like the flow of the story。 I don’t usually give 5 stars but when the story flows well and the primary character doesn’t get on my nerves but is so likeable, upfront with no “bullshit”, am so happy! Norah is really awesome and genuine。 Thank you for a good time!

2。5 stars。 A quick, fairly formulaic, but enjoyable, read。 The story was interesting enough, but the protagonist's internal dialogue was often a little cringey to read。 It also felt like the story ended rather abruptly and the relationship didn't get developed out as much as it seemed like it would, so that was a bit disappointing。 2。5 stars。 A quick, fairly formulaic, but enjoyable, read。 The story was interesting enough, but the protagonist's internal dialogue was often a little cringey to read。 It also felt like the story ended rather abruptly and the relationship didn't get developed out as much as it seemed like it would, so that was a bit disappointing。 。。。more
