3。5 stars。。。this final volume wasnt as good as the first two for me。。。but it does wrap everything up in a good way for me。 This volume just seemed more scattered and things moved way too fast。 But the series was really good overall and I enjoyed it

Nash’s character hurts me so badly。 Thane is awesome。 Ciena is annoying but over all the story is great。 I prefer it to the novel。

Amazing ending。 While the book, and thus the manga, didn't spilt evenly with the 3 movies the mangas tried to line up with each movie。 Some small differences here and there but nothing to detract from my love of this story。 It is the best story to featuring Jedi in the Star Wars universe。 It would have been great if they would have stretched them out a bit more so we could have seen the world the book tried to portray。 Sad that we didn't get a sequel。 Amazing ending。 While the book, and thus the manga, didn't spilt evenly with the 3 movies the mangas tried to line up with each movie。 Some small differences here and there but nothing to detract from my love of this story。 It is the best story to featuring Jedi in the Star Wars universe。 It would have been great if they would have stretched them out a bit more so we could have seen the world the book tried to portray。 Sad that we didn't get a sequel。 。。。more

This is going to be a comprehensive review for all three volumes of the Lost Stars Manga。 They were definitely solid adaptations, and, for my first manga experience, I was pleasantly surprised。 I recommend these to anyone who loves Lost Stars, and Star Wars/manga fans in general。 While they aren’t at the same top tier as the original novel, they are still worth your time。Pros:-The actual adaptation of the story was done really well。 The artist and author worked together to incorporate the key ev This is going to be a comprehensive review for all three volumes of the Lost Stars Manga。 They were definitely solid adaptations, and, for my first manga experience, I was pleasantly surprised。 I recommend these to anyone who loves Lost Stars, and Star Wars/manga fans in general。 While they aren’t at the same top tier as the original novel, they are still worth your time。Pros:-The actual adaptation of the story was done really well。 The artist and author worked together to incorporate the key events from the novel without missing those intimate, tender moments。 Most, if not all, of the big plot points were the same。 How we reached them may have been different, but that is to be expected。 Any alternative choices that were made paid off and did not leave me unfulfilled!-The emotional depth。 While sometimes a bit heavy-handed, these books do provide some emotional rawness and complexity。 The characters convey feelings in typical manga style (over-the-top expressions, endless streams of tears) but I found myself enjoying it for what it was。 It is definitely not for everybody, but I kept an open mind。-The love story。 It translated really well, and it was my favourite part of the original novel, so I was happy。 These two lovers have undeniable chemistry。 -The characters。 Not as developed as the original text, but still fairly good considering there is no way to actually describe people in comic books—everything is shown through dialogue and pictures。 Even then, both main characters had their core qualities and visible personalities, and I liked both equally。 The background characters as well were consistent and effective。 -The art。 It was well-done and I appreciated the style。 It is very different for a Star Wars story, but I am glad that the universe is being expanded and different mediums are being used! The art was also incredibly detailed at times, especially when there were panels of the setting—the mountains of Jelucan, the Death Star。 A few minor things bothered me, like Ciena's wild and inhuman hair, and the choice to try to blend pilot helmets with characters' expressions in a weird gradient。 But my enjoyment was not affected。Cons:-The dialogue was admittedly a bit cheesy and overdone at times, but what can you expect? It is hard to reach the same level of nuance in a series of manga volumes compared to a 550-page book。-While the writers and illustrators did better than I thought they would in designing a mature and deep plot, there were times where the story did feel slightly juvenile。 I know these are targeted towards young adults, but one of my favourite things in the original novel was the maturity that the characters developed as they aged, and how the writing catered to that。 I do not blame the people who adapted it—I am sure it was a difficult balance to achieve, between teens and adults, and especially for manga。 So props to them。 I just have my preferences。-Sometimes I would get confused on who was speaking。 Either if a character had an internal monologue that carried over to a page where a new scene was being set, or if the text switched between thoughts in boxes to speech in bubbles。 But I usually figured it out。 The characters' voices were distinct enough。-The covers。 I wish they were uniquely illustrated or, like in the Saga comic series, a particularly nice panel taken from inside the book。 I know that I am judging these books harshly, because I am comparing them to the original story。 However, that is how I wanted to approach these, especially since Lost Stars is one of my absolute favourite books。 For people who have not read the novel, I highly recommend this for general manga or Star Wars fanatics。 And, besides, these still got 4/5 stars, even with all my comparisons, so that just goes to show how good they were。 。。。more

The Empire has fallen with the destruction of the second Death Star and the surviving Imperial agents are struggling to pick up the pieces。 Finding herself assigned a ship, Ciena Ree questions how she can keep fighting for the Empire but also not being able to turn away。 Suspecting Ciena is dead, Thane Kyrell mourns his friend and true love, but Thane is about to discover that Ciena’s death might have been the easy answer when it comes to traitors。Written and illustrated by Yusaku Komiyama, Star The Empire has fallen with the destruction of the second Death Star and the surviving Imperial agents are struggling to pick up the pieces。 Finding herself assigned a ship, Ciena Ree questions how she can keep fighting for the Empire but also not being able to turn away。 Suspecting Ciena is dead, Thane Kyrell mourns his friend and true love, but Thane is about to discover that Ciena’s death might have been the easy answer when it comes to traitors。Written and illustrated by Yusaku Komiyama, Star Wars: Lost Stars—Volume 3 is a Yen Press Star Wars manga adaptation。 Following Star Wars: Lost Stars—Volume 2, the graphic novel concludes the adaptation of Claudia Gray’s 2015 young-adult novel Star Wars: Lost Stars。Star Wars has always revolved around the Skywalkers to a fault。 The family has affected the course of the universe and cost countless lives。 Star Wars: Lost Stars takes a look at the individual caught up in the “Star Wars” and sees how the war between the Rebels and the Empire affects the every man。What is nice about this collection, is that this is the fallout from war。 Though the struggle of Thane to keep Ciena from sacrificing herself as her training told is dramatic, it feels more like this collection is the winding down…the destruction of the second Death Star was the peak。 Star Wars: Return of the Jedi basically ends with the celebration with no repercussions or explanation of what comes next。 Star Wars: Lost Stars—Volume 3 tries to bridge that gap。What is different for Star Wars: Lost Stars is that it has the framework for what comes next。 The Empire falls but the First Order arises。 The story begins to explore the founding of the First Order and with shows like The Mandalorian, Star Wars fans are getting the gaps filled in between Star Wars: Return of the Jedi and Star Wars: The Force Awakens…but Star Wars: Lost Stars keeps it personal and tied to individual。Yusaku Komiyama’s art and storytelling are pretty slick, but they are also in many ways classic manga。 That doesn’t always sit well with everyone and someone who reads Marvel’s Star Wars comics might find the stylistic change and approach jarring。 Fortunately, the story is strong enough that even fans of American style comic books can enjoy Star Wars: Lost Stars。 It is a good gateway manga。Star Wars: Lost Stars—Volume 3 is an ending, but it also feels rather like an open ending。 You have Ciena in jail, but presumably looking toward some sort of future with Thane。 You also have a very angry Nash Windrider vowing to avenge the presumably dead Ciena。 With a solid outing and a decent story I hope Claudia Gray continues the story and if she does, I also hope we’ll see Yusaku Komiyama return to adapt the sequel。 。。。more

What a rushed ending。 It felt like the previous volumes were building up to something bigger, a clever and emotional face off。。。 and it just didn't deliver。 (view spoiler)[Again there was some unnecessary nudity, showing Ciena taking a shower, probably to keep certain readers happy。 Why no Thane shower scenes, I ask! And since now Ciena has to go back to being in love with Thane we better make another secondary character the new villain。 It felt very lazy。 (hide spoiler)] What a rushed ending。 It felt like the previous volumes were building up to something bigger, a clever and emotional face off。。。 and it just didn't deliver。 (view spoiler)[Again there was some unnecessary nudity, showing Ciena taking a shower, probably to keep certain readers happy。 Why no Thane shower scenes, I ask! It was ok。Great idea, ok story, meh dialogue。 The over the top reactions of the manga style chars and all that is clearly NOT fit for a Star Wars story to be told。 *SPOILERS FROM NOW ON*Had my problems with the characters too,in many occasions, for example, Ciena watches footage of how the AT-ATs got destroyed on Hoth, and she immediately goes "THAT'S THANE!" So what? You're not even talking, you haven't seen each other in ages, he changed his fucking mind, how fucking unrealistic for the writer to expect us to believe that she's spending all the time throughout her fucking life talking and thinking about Thane but OH when she suspects that HE joined the good guys, now he has to die。 fuck outta here。。 that's lazy writing。Then, at the end I'm waiting for a pay off, and Thane goes to the ship that's going on purpose down or something with Ciena in it, and she's like。。。 go。。。 save yourself。。 I'll stay and go down with my ship。。。 the captain always goes down with the ship is what they say。。 they have my parents so I have to stay and die。" Really? And then at the end the villain who's going to fuck shit up over dramatically and shit。。。 sucked。 So fucking bad。 Like, let's finish this off with that shit so we can get off work。Yeah。 This was ok。 This was at best something to read if you're 15。 If that was the target group, then ok!The idea and the whole plot being intertwined with the events from the movies is good。 Even Thane as a character I liked, but everything else was mediocre or just plain bad。Would NOT recommend, unless you really wanna read about Thane I guess。 Star Wars + Manga = NO 。。。more
