Summary

cw: genocide, emotional manipulationi literally did not enjoy a single moment in this book, it's almost hard to figure out where to begin。 i guess a good summary of all of my complaints is that this book works VERY hard to disestablish all of the things that made the first book cheesy but charming。 grace's character is atrocious in this book- in the first book, i found her very likeable as a fish-out-of-water protagonist and an obvious teen fawning over her new boyfriend, but this book works rea cw: genocide, emotional manipulationi literally did not enjoy a single moment in this book, it's almost hard to figure out where to begin。 i guess a good summary of all of my complaints is that this book works VERY hard to disestablish all of the things that made the first book cheesy but charming。 grace's character is atrocious in this book- in the first book, i found her very likeable as a fish-out-of-water protagonist and an obvious teen fawning over her new boyfriend, but this book works really hard to walk back anything that made her redeemable。 'crush' works so hard to convince you that you never read 'crave', and that grace has had powers for more than IN-TEXT TWO WEEKS after a four month coma that she NEVER remembers in the entire book。 where i thought maybe she was a little too lenient on jaxon in the first book, jaxon is largely defanged in this book and there's not a single thing he does that is offensive or controlling or out-of-bounds。。。 but grace's narration positions her like she has the same amount of 100+ years of experience as a paranormal as jaxon does, and she constantly berates him for worrying for her and trying to keep her safe。 i'm usually pretty keen on sifting out controlling or abusive relationships in YA novels like this, but jaxon。。。 isn't。 by contrast, grace SUCKS in this book。 she regularly endangers her friends for the sake of taking hudson, admitted eco-fascist who believes in overpopulation and vampire supremacy, at his word and giving him 'the right to choose (view spoiler)[if he wants to become human or vampire (hide spoiler)]', when that 'right to choose' potentially spells out literally capital-g Genocide for several other paranormal species。 not that grace is at all concerned- she fights with xavier and flint, both species affected by hudson's actions, about it and tries to gaslight them into just trusting her。 she holds this insane double standard (view spoiler)[particularly towards the end of the book with the trial for the seat on the council (hide spoiler)] where any and all violence is bad, except when 1。 she's the perpetrator (to which she's kinda gleeful about beating the hit out of others with her newfound gargoyle power) or 2。 hudson would be responsible。 grace is 100% willing to trade off (view spoiler)[the potential genocide of several races 'just because hudson hasn't already wiped them out, which proves he wouldn't have' (hide spoiler)] for the death of a single (view spoiler)[ancient gargoyle which。。。 like, i don't fault her for not wanting to kill the ancient gargoyle, but there might've been alternatives that wouldn't have resulted in it dying? (hide spoiler)]。 and yet every misstep, any death or injury, despite the fact that jaxon time and time again unreasonably overextends himself to keep her safe (again, only having had her power for in-text TWO WEEKS), is put on jaxon。 wolff literally writes this dude like she hates him, and it's either gotta be editorial meddling to prop up hudson as a more viable love interest, or she never wanted to write crave。i have a lot more to say about this book so maybe i'll come back and edit this but。 this sucks。 there's a lot about it that sucks。 。。。more

I feel like my mind is about to explode with all of my feelings and thoughts on this book。 I don't think I'm capable of writing a review now or ever, due to the fact that I'll probably leave things out and feel really bad about it。 All I'm going to say is that THIS IS SO SO SO SO MUCH BETTER THAN TWILIGHT OF ANY OTHER SUPERNATURAL BOOK LIKE IT AND I KNEWWWW IT ABOUT HUDSON THE WHOLE TIME BUT EVEN THOUGH I DID, MY MIND WAS STILL BLOWN AND I'M AN EMOTIONAL MESS, FROM THE WHOLE BOOK BUT ALSO MOSTLY I feel like my mind is about to explode with all of my feelings and thoughts on this book。 I don't think I'm capable of writing a review now or ever, due to the fact that I'll probably leave things out and feel really bad about it。 All I'm going to say is that THIS IS SO SO SO SO MUCH BETTER THAN TWILIGHT OF ANY OTHER SUPERNATURAL BOOK LIKE IT AND I KNEWWWW IT ABOUT HUDSON THE WHOLE TIME BUT EVEN THOUGH I DID, MY MIND WAS STILL BLOWN AND I'M AN EMOTIONAL MESS, FROM THE WHOLE BOOK BUT ALSO MOSTLY DUE TO THE VERY LAST SENTENCE OF THE BOOK! 。。。more

3。5 starsThe book was interesting and at times I found myself losing interest。 I’m a bit irritated with how the book ended and I knew it was coming。 Not sure if the next book will be for me。 Not a fan of love triangles。。。

Love square? I’m not even a huge fan of love triangles as it is and it’s rare to find a love triangle that I actually enjoy。 As much as I can honestly low key ship Jaxon and Flint and be totally fine, the Romance in this book totally aggravated me。 Fits of all the whole Flint likes Jaxon, and Jaxon likes Grace, and Hudson also Likes Grace and Grace likes both Jaxon and Hudson is just a little too mind boggling for my comfort zone。 And really how easily Grace just moved on from being Jaxon’s mate to Hudson’s at the end, I honestly saw it coming even if I didn’t want to see it coming, after making a whole big deal of how much Grace and Jaxon actually loved each other and how serious this mating bond thing between them is, only to turn around in the same book to make a joke of all of it。 All of it just so Grace can end up with the Bad boy older brother。 If you ask me it’s pathetic, More than a little maddening, and Jaxon didn’t deserve it。 I will say I liked that the whole thing with Hudson turned out to be one of those “the story everyone was told wasn’t the truth afterward, even if he does end up with the girl against what I was clearly hoping for 🤣😂 Hudson annoyed me only a little less than Grace annoys me and the book really stepped up the Humor for this book and I’m honestly not complaining 😂 Overall it was actually pretty interesting those things aside and it was even interesting enough for me to even consider reading the 3rd book, which is progress considering I only read this book because my friend wanted me to 🤣😂🤣🤣but I will read Covet after I get the chance 。。。more

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2 Alright, I love this series。 It really reminds me of a younger version of Magical Midlife Invasion so obviously I’m here for it。 A brand new gargoyle trying to get the most powerful vampire ever to live out of her head (literally) without causing a war? Piece of cake。 On to book 3 even though I really don’t want this series to end。。。 Have you read this one yet? What did you think?

This book was def a diff ride than the first book。 While book one was tropey and a clear reference to another super popular paranormal series, this one held a small thread of that but had a more original story to it that I really enjoyed。 I liked that we got to know Hudson more and that there was so much more to what was happening within he and Jaxon's family。 The games/competition was reminded me of a wizard tournament mixed with hunger games but was fun to experience。 And Grace being in her G This book was def a diff ride than the first book。 While book one was tropey and a clear reference to another super popular paranormal series, this one held a small thread of that but had a more original story to it that I really enjoyed。 I liked that we got to know Hudson more and that there was so much more to what was happening within he and Jaxon's family。 The games/competition was reminded me of a wizard tournament mixed with hunger games but was fun to experience。 And Grace being in her G form is also pretty bad ass。 That ending!!!!!! Better than CraveI enjoyed this one a LOT more than Crave。 While Crave was good, this one had a lot more adventure, monsters, mystery, and action in it。 I loved all the twists and turns the author took me on and am excited to see how the rest of the series unfolds。
