Love love the setting of this book。 Ninjas, assassin and samurai。 The characters are evil and obviously despicable but we follow Gabimaru, The Hollow as the prisoners were sent to an island to get an elixir of life。 But they are guarded by samurai or executioner who would kill them without mercy if they failed their mission。 Before that, the creatures that inhabit the island are so bizarre and creepy。 There is a lot of nudity and gore in this volume so beware。

I'm reading so much manga that I forget to keep track, and I'll see one that i've read on Goodreads and think "why doesn't that say read?"Anyway, this was amazing, would highly recommend to anyone and everyone。 I picked it up because I kept seeing it everywhere and it took like half a volume for me to become obsessed。 This is exactly the kind of manga I like。 And then I immediately tracked down and purchased all of the other volumes currently released in English。 I'm reading so much manga that I forget to keep track, and I'll see one that i've read on Goodreads and think "why doesn't that say read?"Anyway, this was amazing, would highly recommend to anyone and everyone。 I picked it up because I kept seeing it everywhere and it took like half a volume for me to become obsessed。 This is exactly the kind of manga I like。 And then I immediately tracked down and purchased all of the other volumes currently released in English。 。。。more

The themes and characters all have a special place in my heart。 Touched upon topics rarely discussed or presented in shonen manga, and I think that’s what made it stand out the most。 9。5/10

A great start to what I predict to be an amazing series。 Love the 2 lead characters and love the competition feel of the manga。 Excited to continue

This was good and I love how complex the main character is。 I don't want to get my hopes up though with the MC and his relationship because I just have this feeling that it won't go the way I want。I can also see the fight scenes being so badass if it were to ever be animated。I can't wait to continue the series! This took me by surprise。 I picked it up because I saw it on a list of manga that deserved an anime, and that was all it took for me to check it out。 I didn't know what it was about, but I had heard the name before; once I saw the cover for it, I was sold。 Bold art, gruesome and brutal action, and characters that'll stick with you (a few at least)。 This combined with a pretty interesting premise set the stage for what is sure to be a wild ride! This was cool! Its about this guy named Gabimaru whose gonna be executed for some stuff but they can't kill him and we slowly learn his bloody history and he can be forgiven by the Shogun if he procures the Elixir of life from a hell-heaven island and its dangerous and so he along with his executioner, Sagiri go there and find some wild things and crazy stuff happens。 Its a good one and explores the concept of hollow evil men being redeemed by love as is the case with the lead who just wants to This was cool! Honestly, very solid start to the manga。 I’m getting kind of Annihilation (Jeff Vandermeer) vibes so far。

I’ve seen many views on this one and most of them are negative; but I’m enjoying this since it’s the first time for me to ever read anything thing ‘historical’ but it’s not quiet easy to be honest, but I’m already liking where this is going and the art style is absolutely astonishing。

3。5 starsSomehow this manga manages to be both boring and intriguing。While the art is "pretty"。。。the story doesn't seem terribly original。 The characters appear to be one dimensional tropes, typical of many shounen manga。 I don't actually care all that much for any of them or their plights, at least not yet。I also didn't care at all for how badly the story jumped around at the beginning。 I thought the events were being told via flashbacks, considering the flow of their conversation。 It wasn't ma 3。5 starsSomehow this manga manages to be both boring and intriguing。While the art is "pretty"。。。the story doesn't seem terribly original。 The characters appear to be one dimensional tropes, typical of many shounen manga。 I don't actually care all that much for any of them or their plights, at least not yet。I also didn't care at all for how badly the story jumped around at the beginning。 I thought the events were being told via flashbacks, considering the flow of their conversation。 It wasn't made clear and there no indication that the events were actually being told as they were happening until halfway through the conversation which made the beginning a bit confusing。At the same time, the creepy island and it's unnatural creatures have caught my attention。 I'm willing to give the series a shot just for the island。 I also want to see if there's anything in the way of character development later on。 The author spent so much time "setting up" the story for the island, I don't think he got to show his full potential in story telling yet。 Time will tell if I continue this series to the (eventual) end or not, I suppose。 。。。more

Well there’s a twist, there’s always a twist lol, many men have been sent to this island but none return。 The island itself is a mystery on the thin line between heaven and hell。 This is a Shōjo but definitely came off more as a Seinen manga, so expect gore, nudity, heavy mature themes, and violence。 Like I said I love the art style and the detail put into this manga。 I’m looking forward to collecting the rest~ 。。。more
