Summary

Waylon Russell Brewer is a fat, openly gay boy stuck in the small West Texas town of Clover City。 His plan is to bide his time until he can graduate, move to Austin with his twin sister, Clementine, and finally go Full Waylon, so that he can live his Julie-the-hills-are-alive-with-the-sound-of-music-Andrews truth。

So when Clementine deviates from their master plan right after Waylon gets dumped, he throws caution to the wind and creates an audition tape for his favorite TV drag show, Fiercest of Them All。 What he doesn’t count on is the tape accidentally getting shared with the entire school。 。 。 。 As a result, Waylon is nominated for prom queen as a joke。 Clem’s girlfriend, Hannah Perez, also receives a joke nomination for prom king。

Waylon and Hannah decide there’s only one thing to do: run—and leave high school with a bang。 A very glittery bang。 Along the way, Waylon discovers that there is a lot more to running for prom court than campaign posters and plastic crowns, especially when he has to spend so much time with the very cute and infuriating prom king nominee Tucker Watson。

Waylon will need to learn that the best plan for tomorrow is living for today 。 。 。 especially with the help of some fellow queens。 。 。 。

This book was everything I hoped it would be and more! Julie Murphy has helped me feel seen on numerous levels and I will forever be grateful to her。 She is such a talented storyteller and she brought all the feels with Pumpkin, the last installment of her Clover City novels。 A must read!

For anyone? I mean, it's not even discussed! I grew up in Texas, and I know that SOMEONE is gonna talk when one of the handsome, popular football players suddenly comes out of the closet, yet no one even seems to notice when Tucker kisses Waylon in the middle of prom! Julie Murphy does it again! This time she slays the be yourself vibe with a fat, queer boy from the Dumplin universe! Love it。

Super cute inclusive book! I loved Dumplin’ and Puddin’, and this was no disappointment either。 Tons of LGBTQIA+ representation and discussion of issues。 Addressed fatphobia in a really helpful, honest way as well。 Overall a great read! 4/5

You know when you have super high expectations for something and then when you actually experience it, it’s subpar? That was my #1 fear with this book。 Clearly I need to have more faith, because it was such a perfect, cute, inclusive YA novel I will forever be a Julie Murphy stan Bc her books make me feel seen。 I wish I could articulate how I’m feeling better, but just know that this book is magic。 It gave me butterflies。 Completely loved it。 💖👑

Pumpkin returns to the Dumplin series。 Each of these books are stand alone however, reading all three will give you a little more insight into Clover City。 Waylon Russell Brewer is an openly gay boy who lives in a small Texas town。 He plans to graduate from high school and move with his sister to a larger town。 However, plans get changed and so does Waylon。 When he and his sister's girlfriend are nominated for homecoming king and queen, they decide to play it out and go out with a glittery bang。 Pumpkin returns to the Dumplin series。 Each of these books are stand alone however, reading all three will give you a little more insight into Clover City。 Waylon Russell Brewer is an openly gay boy who lives in a small Texas town。 He plans to graduate from high school and move with his sister to a larger town。 However, plans get changed and so does Waylon。 When he and his sister's girlfriend are nominated for homecoming king and queen, they decide to play it out and go out with a glittery bang。 This is such a fun series。 Learning how they navigate the trials of high school, Ms。 Murphy really does a good job writing about how high school really is。 The bullying is real。 I really have enjoyed the series。 I know this is probably the last book but I will miss Waylon and all of his friends。I received a copy through Netgalley。 A review was not required。 。。。more

This was closer to 3。5 stars for me but I’m rounding up because it was me not the book。 I really liked the storyline but I wanted more of the main characters from the first two books。

I really didn't want to like this book。 Small town Clover City just has too many non-het residents for me to find it believable。 How on Earth is it able to sustain a gay, drag bar with as small a town as Clover City purports to be? Frankly, it's a lot of disbelief to suspend。But then I started reading and I got all wrapped up in Waylon's problems。 Yes, it's tough being "a gay fat kid" and, yes, it's rough having a twin who has plans (and a mind!) of her own。 I related to Waylon's long-planned co I really didn't want to like this book。 Small town Clover City just has too many non-het residents for me to find it believable。 How on Earth is it able to sustain a gay, drag bar with as small a town as Clover City purports to be? The book I wish I'd had in high school。 Or in my 20s。 30s。 BE YOURSELF!!! So many feelings about this book。 Fat queer gingers deserve love。 Deserve to be our true selves。I enjoyed the cameos from previous books in the series。 (Read them all。 They don't need to be in order。) Glad that Hannah got the spotlight here。All of these books are empowering。 The characters relatable。 Some terrific older kickass ladies!! 4。5/5 ✨This was such a wholesome, lighthearted coming-of-age queer novel I LOVE IT!!! Waylon was super loveable, along with the rest of the gang。 The mlm romantic pairing was also really cute, and I think this would have also worked well even without that!! ❤️HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! It was fun to revisit Clover City High, catch up with Will, Bo, and Millie, and meet new friends Waylon and Clem。 Twins Waylon and Clementine plan to graduate and move to Austin together。 But when Clem explores options that don't include Waylon, he films an audition for a drag show that gets shared with the whole school。 And that video garners him a nomination for prom queen! Such a great ending the Clover City books。 Each book I have fallen hard for this group of misfits and to have a queer one as the main character makes it even better。 Such a cute and fast read that I didn’t want to put down。

A heartwarming feel-good-story about loving and being proud of yourself。The story plays in the universe of "Dumplin'", but you can read it as a standing alone novel。I adored protagonist Waylon "Pumpkin" for his positivity and development。 What I liked within the most was the way he introduced himself: "Yes, I know, I am stereotype gay, so what? If it bothers you, sorry, but that's me and I cannot change it。 Deal with it!"Yes, the story contains many stereotypes and teenie drama, but it comes acr A heartwarming feel-good-story about loving and being proud of yourself。The story plays in the universe of "Dumplin'", but you can read it as a standing alone novel。I adored protagonist Waylon "Pumpkin" for his positivity and development。 What I liked within the most was the way he introduced himself: "Yes, I know, I am stereotype gay, so what? This book deserves a full review, but for right now I’ll just say that this was by far my favorite book in the Dumplin series! I didn’t love the first book about Willowdean (2 stars) but I did like the second book about Millie (3。5 stars)。 I’m so glad I picked this up from my library!!! I’m giving this 4。5 (rounded to 5) stars!

I was so close to giving this 4 stars! I just don’t think it was long/developed enough。 I still enjoyed it!

It was cute, it wasn’t monumental or breathtaking or anything but it was cute and I could see how important it was to the author。 Good read for pride month。

I came so close to giving Dumplin’ five stars but held back and now I know why: I was just waiting for Waylon and Pumpkin’。 Stepping into Clover City is like stepping into a warm hug and with the release of Pumpkin’ even more so。 Thank you Julie Murphy for creating a world where you can be who you are without shame and with pride。 Where body size is just that…the size of your body and nothing more。 Where love and acceptance are the rule, not the exception。I am so sad to see this series coming to I came so close to giving Dumplin’ five stars but held back and now I know why: I was just waiting for Waylon and Pumpkin’。 Stepping into Clover City is like stepping into a warm hug and with the release of Pumpkin’ even more so。 Thank you Julie Murphy for creating a world where you can be who you are without shame and with pride。 Where body size is just that…the size of your body and nothing more。 Where love and acceptance are the rule, not the exception。I am so sad to see this series coming to an end but will be revisiting it often。 。。。more

I really enjoyed this book- it was cute and a fun read。 The only downside was that it was of course extremely predictable and followed every formulaic outcome you’d expect。

This is the third book set in this universe and so far I’ve loved them all。 This one was a little bit of a slower start for me, but it made up for that in the second half when I couldn’t stop turning the pages。 I love this optimistic fictional town of Clover city where those who are weird find more acceptance and success than hate。 This volume centers around a fabulous senior named Waylon who is a fat, gay, teen with aspirations of getting into drag。 When Waylon and his twin sister’s girlfriend This is the third book set in this universe and so far I’ve loved them all。 This one was a little bit of a slower start for me, but it made up for that in the second half when I couldn’t stop turning the pages。 I love this optimistic fictional town of Clover city where those who are weird find more acceptance and success than hate。 This volume centers around a fabulous senior named Waylon who is a fat, gay, teen with aspirations of getting into drag。 When Waylon and his twin sister’s girlfriend Hannah are nominated for prom queen and king respectively he surprises everyone including himself when he accepts the challenge and truly campaigns。 。。。more
