This book is a great informative book about meerkats, it offers information about what they are, how they live, what they eat, their big families, jobs they have and a lot more。 I love these types of books because they offer so many opportunities to learn。I gave this book 5 stars because it offers so many things to learn about and includes new words for kids to expand their vocabulary。

"They have fun, just like you。 They work, play, and rest, too。 They dig in the sand and lie in the sun。 Most often you'll find more than one! What are they? Meerkats!" Meerkats by Laura Marsh begins with a Table of Contents。 The book tells about meerkats-what they are, where they live, and what they eat。 This book also explains that they live in a "mob" or group and that each meerkat has a special and unique role-teacher, babysitter, guard, and feeder。 There is also a page that includes seven cool facts about meerkats。 At the end there are close-up photos to match with a vocabulary word from a word bank。 This is another excellent book for emergent readers with Meerkats by Laura Marsh begins with a Table of Contents。 The book tells about meerkats-what they are, where they live, and what they eat。 This book also explains that they live in a "mob" or group and that each meerkat has a special and unique role-teacher, babysitter, guard, and feeder。 There is also a page that includes seven cool facts about meerkats。 At the end there are close-up photos to match with a vocabulary word from a word bank。 This is another excellent book for emergent readers with many extension activities a teacher could incorporate into the classroom。 。。。more

An easy reader style book for those learning to read。 Normally, I am not a fan of easy readers because of the over simplified language and storyline, however this one uses a variety of words which I think help challenge readers。 I also love how the book introduces students to a variety of text features。 Students will enjoy reading this book as it is very informative with a lot of interesting pictures。 I would have this, and other books in this series in my classroom library。

An easy introduction to meerkats, what they are, and how they live。 The easy text is accompanied by fantastic full color pictures of meerkats。Love the photographs。 The text was informative, did a good job of explaining bigger words, and I'm sure kids will like the little meerkat jokes provided in the corner of some of the pages (most are pun heavy and provoked more groans than laughs from me)。 A good pick for a young animal lover or inquisitive kid。 An easy introduction to meerkats, what they are, and how they live。 The easy text is accompanied by fantastic full color pictures of meerkats。Love the photographs。 The text was informative, did a good job of explaining bigger words, and I'm sure kids will like the little meerkat jokes provided in the corner of some of the pages (most are pun heavy and provoked more groans than laughs from me)。 A good pick for a young animal lover or inquisitive kid。 。。。more
