What was once the western United States is now home to the Republic, a nation perpetually at war with its neighbors。

Born into an elite family in one of the Republic's wealthiest districts, fifteen-year-old June is a prodigy being groomed for success in the Republic's highest military circles。

Born into the slums, fifteen-year-old Day is the country's most wanted criminal。 But his motives may not be as malicious as they seem。

From very different worlds, June and Day have no reason to cross paths - until the day June's brother, Metias, is murdered and Day becomes the prime suspect。
Caught in the ultimate game of cat and mouse, Day is in a race for his family's survival, while June seeks to avenge Metias's death。 But in a shocking turn of events, the two uncover the truth of what has really brought them together, and the sinister lengths their country will go to keep its secrets。

‘Legend’ is honestly my favorite dystopian novel/series hands down。 Marie Lu is amazing at building such an intricate and layered world, while still hiding some secrets within its foundations and not being confusing or heavy at all。 I fell in love with Day as a strong, emotional, charismatic character, as well as June as an intelligent, passionate, and empathetic character。 Both were so immaculately developed and I was rooting for their stories the entire time, even when the outcome seemed doome ‘Legend’ is honestly my favorite dystopian novel/series hands down。 Marie Lu is amazing at building such an intricate and layered world, while still hiding some secrets within its foundations and not being confusing or heavy at all。 I fell in love with Day as a strong, emotional, charismatic character, as well as June as an intelligent, passionate, and empathetic character。 Both were so immaculately developed and I was rooting for their stories the entire time, even when the outcome seemed doomed。 I loved how Marie Lu writes Day and June as enemies to friends (possibly lovers in the end?) and how their separate agendas eventually converge into shared goals。 This book left me with many unanswered enthralling questions, enticing me to continue reading the series。 I would recommend this series to lovers of dystopian, enemies to friends/kind of lovers, and action/adventure。 。。。more

My only issue is that the protagonists are young 。。 too young。

I really enjoyed this one。 The Characters were well developed and I love the connection the main characters have。 Not just a chemistry between them but how the back story intertwin and are very similar to one another。 Love how it ended with June discovery the truth and Day escaping。 Looking forward to getting into the rest of their story。

Such a cliché of a book, but still so captivating

Just realized that, one Day in June, I decided to read this book。 Amid the pandemic, too。 😮Couldn't put the book down during the first part; I especially liked the chase。 Not a fan of the insta-love trope, but we'll see how this develops in the next books。 The story is too predictable despite the few pieces of information provided。 Hoping to get more details。 😅 Just realized that, one Day in June, I decided to read this book。 Amid the pandemic, too。 😮Couldn't put the book down during the first part; I especially liked the chase。 Not a fan of the insta-love trope, but we'll see how this develops in the next books。 The story is too predictable despite the few pieces of information provided。 Hoping to get more details。 😅 。。。more

I’m not going to rate this book because I’ve decided to DNF this about 3 chapters in。 I usually don’t give up on books this early but every time I went to go read this I was itching to pick up something else because I didn’t want to continue this。 I’m also not a fan of dystopian books anymore。 I grew out of the 2010 phase of that。 I also think I’m just too old for this。 Maybe if I was 15 and still into dystopians I would enjoy this。 But at this point I don’t wanna waste my time reading a book I’ I’m not going to rate this book because I’ve decided to DNF this about 3 chapters in。 I usually don’t give up on books this early but every time I went to go read this I was itching to pick up something else because I didn’t want to continue this。 I’m also not a fan of dystopian books anymore。 I grew out of the 2010 phase of that。 I also think I’m just too old for this。 Maybe if I was 15 and still into dystopians I would enjoy this。 But at this point I don’t wanna waste my time reading a book I’m not into at all while I have plenty of unread books sitting on my shelves! A very well written young adult dystopian novel。 A very quick read, and one that I didn't want to put down。 I may raise my rating as I read the rest of the novels - - - they tend to not live up to the first one, but I am hoping to be pleasantly surprised。 A very well written young adult dystopian novel。 A very quick read, and one that I didn't want to put down。 I may raise my rating as I read the rest of the novels - - - they tend to not live up to the first one, but I am hoping to be pleasantly surprised。 。。。more

Ehhh。 I read it quickly because it was an easy read。 Maybe for kids? Like, okay。 I know it is for kids but I don’t mind a YA book occasionally。 I was thinking Hunger Games and it just didn’t get there for me。 I don’t plan to read the rest。 I felt there wasn’t enough world building and character development。

Lauren

I read this book a while ago but it was the only book that I swear by and recommend to all my friends。 It has all the great genres: romance (enemies to lovers), thriller (ish) and dystopian y/a。 I loved the setting and it reminded me of the hunger games but better。 The book is written well and it alternates between the two character’s perspectives。 Everyone should read this book in their lifetime and the series is brilliant as well

Ezzie

Legend was AMAZING and I stood up all night reading it。 The action was so intense and you never knew when what would happen。 I fell in love with this book the moment I read the first chapter。 This book is just plain PERFECTION。

Mary M

j

Finished it in a day because I couldn’t put it down。 SO GOOD
