Summary

Marjorie Glatt feels like a ghost。 A practical thirteen year old in charge of the family laundry business, her daily routine features unforgiving customers, unbearable P。E。 classes, and the fastidious Mr。 Saubertuck who is committed to destroying everything she’s worked for。

Wendell is a ghost。 A boy who lost his life much too young, his daily routine features ineffective death therapy, a sheet-dependent identity, and a dangerous need to seek purpose in the forbidden human world。

When their worlds collide, Marjorie is confronted by unexplainable disasters as Wendell transforms Glatt’s Laundry into his midnight playground, appearing as a mere sheet during the day。 While Wendell attempts to create a new afterlife for himself, he unknowingly sabotages the life that Marjorie is struggling to maintain。

This is a sweet story that makes you invested in the characters。 It tugged at a small part of my emotions that has lately been numb。 It’s also really beautifully illustrated。 I’m looking forward to reading the next one。

I enjoyed this a lot more than what I was expecting。 I'm glad I gave it a go。 The ending was slightly rushed but still good。 I enjoyed this a lot more than what I was expecting。 I'm glad I gave it a go。 The ending was slightly rushed but still good。 。。。more

cute little middle grade graphic novel :)

Super cute, but maybe a little too quick? I felt like the only character I really had enough time to love was Wendell, as for Marjorie, I didn’t quite root for her in the same way。 Maybe the second graphic novel will do the trick? Sheets is a good chaser to a sad book, it’ll make you happy。

A charming and very different kind of coming of age graphic novel。 Somber, melancholic and beautifully illustrated!

A surprisingly heartwarming story about a girl and a ghost and a laundromat。 ‘Sheets’ follows Marjorie and Wendell, girl and ghost respectively。 Marjorie isn’t popular or even well liked by her classmates or the town, with a particularly devious “businessman” scheming to take over her building and turn it into a spa。 Wendell is having a hard time accepting his ghostness and runs away to Marjorie’s laundromat。 Through a series of complications, the two become friends and work together to get the A surprisingly heartwarming story about a girl and a ghost and a laundromat。 ‘Sheets’ follows Marjorie and Wendell, girl and ghost respectively。 Marjorie isn’t popular or even well liked by her classmates or the town, with a particularly devious “businessman” scheming to take over her building and turn it into a spa。 Wendell is having a hard time accepting his ghostness and runs away to Marjorie’s laundromat。 Through a series of complications, the two become friends and work together to get the scheming “businessman” out of town and turn Marjorie’s laundromat into a thriving business。 This story deals with grief in a very real way。 Marjorie’s mother had just died and her father is consumed by his depression, leaving the laundromat and the care of her kindergarten-aged brother to Marj。 It’s a lot for anyone, let alone a teenager。 She did her best and it wasn’t enough at first but worked out。 Wendell learns that being a ghost isn’t terrible and that he will be okay with his new reality。 This book really worked itself around my heart and squeezed。 I was so happy that everything turned out okay。 Definitely recommend for other teens who might be dealing with grief or just like graphic novels。 。。。more

I wish I could give it 10 stars。 5 for the artwork and 5 stars for the story。

Great story, didn’t love the art。 Girl runs a laundromat after her mom dies and starts seeing a ghost。 Interesting tale of grief with magical realistic influences。

I have had my sights set on this one for a while。 The cover always managed to catch my eye while browsing my library's graphic novel section。 Always the promise of next time, until now。Emotional and sweet, with an uplifting ending。 The art style is soft and pleasing, I enjoyed the color palette。 It was a nice change of pace from the more serious graphic novels I have been reading。 I have to agree with others, the pacing seemed a bit off and felt a little rushed near the end。 That being said, it I have had my sights set on this one for a while。 The cover always managed to catch my eye while browsing my library's graphic novel section。 Always the promise of next time, until now。Emotional and sweet, with an uplifting ending。 The art style is soft and pleasing, I enjoyed the color palette。 It was a nice change of pace from the more serious graphic novels I have been reading。 I have to agree with others, the pacing seemed a bit off and felt a little rushed near the end。 That being said, it was still a nice read and would be worth reading again。 I'm looking forward to the sequel。 。。。more

The charming illustrations make you fall in love instantly, but the first thing I really adored about this book is the main character, Marjorie。 She is young and tired, handling way too much, and just trying to hold on to the pieces of her life that she still enjoys。 You relate to her, you feel bad for her, you want to see her succeed。 The story should make you feel sad, but somehow it is so full of hope。 It handles grief and friendship, and does so with poise and whit。 I recommend this book to The charming illustrations make you fall in love instantly, but the first thing I really adored about this book is the main character, Marjorie。 She is young and tired, handling way too much, and just trying to hold on to the pieces of her life that she still enjoys。 You relate to her, you feel bad for her, you want to see her succeed。 The story should make you feel sad, but somehow it is so full of hope。 It handles grief and friendship, and does so with poise and whit。 I recommend this book to readers 12 or older who enjoyed the 2016 movie Revolting Rhymes, the Netflix series Last Kids on Earth, and Series of Unfortunate Events (the books or Netflix series)。 。。。more

The art was so beautiful, and the story was heartwarming。 I know what it’s like to have a parent that can’t be around because of their grief or depression。 However, I will admit that the pace was weird; I had this constantly feeling like my book had missing pages (it didn’t)。 It didn’t feel cohesive so there were times I was a little confused to how we got to that point in the story。 Overall, 3。5 stars!

Robby Harrington

Beautiful illustrations and a heartbreaking yet heartwarming story。 I also loved that the book served 90s nostalgia。

Maddie Faris

Wholesome。

3。5 starsI loved the artwork。 It’s so beautiful even with the odd way the author draws faces (says the girl can’t draw to save her life)。 Truly though, the art makes the book。 The story could have used some more development。 The bones are very clearly there but the resolution came very quickly and the way it arrived was a little contrived。Apparently there’s a second book coming so I’m definitely interested in seeing how the story continues because this one left me wanting。

Graphic Novel- well done story line with great balance of speech bubbles, illustrations and dialogue boxes。 Cheshire Glatt takes care of her family's laundry mart while trying to keep her father and brother from all consuming sadness over her mom's death。 Complete with evil villain real estate man trying to take over her property and mean girls, this has all the elements of a teen novel。 However, the added unexpected twist of ghosts make this a memorable story。 Looking forward to reading the seq Graphic Novel- well done story line with great balance of speech bubbles, illustrations and dialogue boxes。 Cheshire Glatt takes care of her family's laundry mart while trying to keep her father and brother from all consuming sadness over her mom's death。 Complete with evil villain real estate man trying to take over her property and mean girls, this has all the elements of a teen novel。 However, the added unexpected twist of ghosts make this a memorable story。 Looking forward to reading the sequel; Delicates。 。。。more
