Summary

My whole world changed when I stepped inside the academy。 Nothing is right about this place or the other students in it。 Here I am, a mere mortal among gods…or monsters。 I still can’t decide which of these warring factions I belong to, if I belong at all。 I only know the one thing that unites them is their hatred of me。

Then there’s Jaxon Vega。 A vampire with deadly secrets who hasn’t felt anything for a hundred years。 But there’s something about him that calls to me, something broken in him that somehow fits with what’s broken in me。

Which could spell death for us all。

Because Jaxon walled himself off for a reason。 And now someone wants to wake a sleeping monster, and I’m wondering if I was brought here intentionally—as the bait。

2。5 stars。 Didn’t love it didn’t hate it。 I’m intrigued enough to finish the series though。 I think the most annoying part was that the main character didn’t know everyone around her were different creatures until more than halfway thru the book。 Besides the corniness & teenage angst it’s pretty entertaining。 Definitely not a deep thinker

Great plot but grammar was horrible

Listen, I went into this knowing it was purely YA entertainment and it was NOT going to be a literary masterpiece to expand my mind。。。 and that worked! While there were MANY。。。 MANY。。。 (so many) eye rolls, I LOVED it! Tho, Grace and Jaxon were probably my least favorite characters。。。 I didn't dislike them but they were alright。 I loved Macy。。。 and Foster。。。 and even Flint。。。 and Mekhi。 Very excited to see where this goes。 Listen, I went into this knowing it was purely YA entertainment and it was NOT going to be a literary masterpiece to expand my mind。。。 and that worked! While there were MANY。。。 MANY。。。 (so many) eye rolls, I LOVED it! I saw multiple people recommending this book, and since I’m a sucker for anything supernatural I ended up buying it。 (Spoiler: I loved it) When I started reading I could not put it down, and I found myself daydreaming through out the day about it。。。 Craving for more hahaI liked that Grace is different to a lot of female leads, she’s witty, brave and independent, it felt like we could sense her personality from the very beginning, which is more than I could ask for from a YA novel。。。 I also found I saw multiple people recommending this book, and since I’m a sucker for anything supernatural I ended up buying it。 (Spoiler: I loved it) When I started reading I could not put it down, and I found myself daydreaming through out the day about it。。。 Craving for more hahaI liked that Grace is different to a lot of female leads, she’s witty, brave and independent, it felt like we could sense her personality from the very beginning, which is more than I could ask for from a YA novel。。。 I also found the dynamic between Grace and Jaxon super fun to read, it’s funny, sexy and I honestly want to know what happens next with them。 I don’t think this is like other supernatural/vampire themed novels since it includes other elements like werewolfs, dragons and witches, and I honestly can’t wait to purchase the second book。 I know a lot of people compare it to Twilight, which is fine, but if you’re looking for a replica of that saga, that ain’t what you’re going to get。。。 I also saw people complaining about the cover being a ripoff of Twilight, which I don’t disagree, but I think it was a smart marketing move。 (It probably got some people intrigued, and perhaps some even bought and liked the book)Basically, what I’m saying is: If you liked Twilight, anything “witchy”, Teen Wolf or any of that type of media there’s a really high chance of you liking this saga。 :-) 。。。more

I thought I was over vampire storys。 Well, it turns out 。。。 I’m not。 This book was addictive! There’s no other way to describe it。 I read it in less than 24 hours and was thinking about the characters even when I was not reading it。 You shouldn’t compare this book with others and just review it’s story alone, because it is nothing new。 The plot is nice but slow and I actually saw some „plottwists“ coming - not the last one though。 That it’s not something entirely new doesn’t make it a lesser sto I thought I was over vampire storys。 Well, it turns out 。。。 I’m not。 This book was addictive! After finishing this book I ordered the sequels immediately and I am very exited to read Crave next。 I would recommend this book, but don’t give the full 5 stars, because it lacked a thrilling plot and creativity at some points。 。。。more

2。5 stars because I didn't absolutely despise it。 That being said, I definitely didn't love it。 The dialogue at times made me cringe out of my skin and the texts were often so excruciatingly millennial trying to sound young。 Grace as a character felt like a heroine in a shitty horror you want to physically fight, those that are made out to be intelligent and independent, all while doing things with absolutely zero forethought。 But more than anything else, the plot was predictable as fuck from th 2。5 stars because I didn't absolutely despise it。 That being said, I definitely didn't love it。 The dialogue at times made me cringe out of my skin and the texts were often so excruciatingly millennial trying to sound young。 Grace as a character felt like a heroine in a shitty horror you want to physically fight, those that are made out to be intelligent and independent, all while doing things with absolutely zero forethought。 But more than anything else, the plot was predictable as fuck from the beginning, to the point where it felt like the author wasn't even trying to disguise it。 And there's literally no way Xander was causing literal earthquakes and no one from the school thought to investigate???? My 14-year-old self would have absolutely rated this 4 stars。 Unfortunately, my 25-year-old self would lean closer to 2。5, but then again, I am no longer the intended audience。 So do with that what you will。My qualms: narrative voice, pacing, length。The prose was quite youthful and reminiscent of a text conversation I might’ve had with a friend in high school。 This is fine — it’s YA after all — but it didn’t mesh very well with the intense subject matter。 The tension and interest in the plot wer My 14-year-old self would have absolutely rated this 4 stars。 Unfortunately, my 25-year-old self would lean closer to 2。5, but then again, I am no longer the intended audience。 So do with that what you will。My qualms: narrative voice, pacing, length。The prose was quite youthful and reminiscent of a text conversation I might’ve had with a friend in high school。 This is fine — it’s YA after all — but it didn’t mesh very well with the intense subject matter。 The tension and interest in the plot were lost in the attempt to sound relatable and incorporate pop culture, etc。Pacing and length were huge deterrents for me。 It was nearly 200 pages too long and dragged quite a bit in the first act。 The climax concluded with nearly 80 pages remaining, which is also a pet peeve of mine。 Turns out there was a second conflict that only occurred in the last chapter。。。 frustrating! In all, relatively unremarkable。 I would’ve enjoyed this as a teen for what it was, but I’m not sure it would’ve been a book that remained a fixture in my memory。 。。。more

Fun, fast, paranormal, teenage drama, in the deep of Alaska, in a castle-boarding school, read。Twilight was fun 。。。 so was this。Ridiculous volumes of angst, uncertainty, big, BIG feelings, and so much swooney mooning。Descriptions left me knowing that someone wants to make this into a movie。Let your inner 17-year old romp around in this story for a minute。A completely delightful, utter Twinkie of a book。

So, I initially started this book awhile ago, I ended up putting it down to start another book。 I was expecting something like Twilight, but man was I wrong。 I can't decide if I was a fan of the writing, but the plot。 O my gosh!!! The plot is amazing。 And the trope that is used here, I'm in love。 The whole, ' I hate everyone but you' and ' we're both broken but you make me feel whole again' is my guilty pleasure trope。 The characters are very well writing and each have their own personalities So, I initially started this book awhile ago, I ended up putting it down to start another book。 I was expecting something like Twilight, but man was I wrong。 I can't decide if I was a fan of the writing, but the plot。 O my gosh!!! The best part about this book is that it is so self aware about what it is, and doesn’t try to pretend to be anything else。 It’s an angsty, fun romp through upper YA paranormal romance that hits on every cliche and trope that has made the subgenre popular, and I love it for that。Parents absent under mysterious circumstances? Check。 Girl-not-like-other-girls thrust into an unfamiliar new atmosphere? Check。 Eerily sexy, broody, and occasionally rude paranormal boys? So, I'm in love with this series。 Instantly and irrevocably in love。 I can't begin to describe how much this is NOT like Twilight。 I bought the books as a joke and ended up loving them more than any other series I've ever read。 A joke because I thought this would be Twilight, with zero changes。 BOY WAS I WRONG。 You can't go wrong with a supernatural world with a story set in a boarding school。 It just has it all。 You name it, Crave delivers。 The chapter titles are absolutely original and funny, So, I'm in love with this series。 Instantly and irrevocably in love。 I can't begin to describe how much this is NOT like Twilight。 I bought the books as a joke and ended up loving them more than any other series I've ever read。 A joke because I thought this would be Twilight, with zero changes。 BOY WAS I WRONG。 You can't go wrong with a supernatural world with a story set in a boarding school。 It just has it all。 You name it, Crave delivers。 The chapter titles are absolutely original and funny, had me laughing for days on end。 I couldn't have asked for a better vampire story even if I tried。 I would've loved to not have read the synopsis first because I would've been just as surprised as Grace in everything that was going on。 Absolutely recommend to fans of vampire books without excessive romance。 Just an altogether perfect book。 。。。more

I flew through this audiobook because I just had to get to the parts I knew were coming! It was a bit slow for me in the first half, but especially the last 1/4th was so good! I cannot wait to keep reading, because I can see it getting better and better!3。5 Stars

i liked it! it was giving a hint of twilight but of course in its own way。 grace and jaxon have a very intense yet complicated relationship which i find interesting。 they went from “enemies” to lovers but in a somewhat fast pace。 also really liked how the ending left a cliffhanger! all in all a pretty good book!
