I have no idea how volleyball works, but Haikyu is still extremely enjoyable! I can’t count how many times I’ve laughed from this first volume。 The character depth, the pure love for the sport, and the dynamics of each character made me crave for more!

One of the reasons why I read this was that I missed the series a lot and the manga is just as good as the anime。(duh) I really enjoyed it! :))))

It was cute。 My friends who coach volleyball say it's great for the technical side of how to play but for me it was just not something I got into。 I can see why it'd be interesting to people who play but I'm good。 It was cute。 My friends who coach volleyball say it's great for the technical side of how to play but for me it was just not something I got into。 I can see why it'd be interesting to people who play but I'm good。 。。。more

Words cannot describe how much I LOVE THESE CHARACTERS they’ve overtaken my life and I literally could not be more grateful。Seeing where Hinata and Kageyama start in their relationship as well as the third-years first interactions… my sole source of serotonin and I’m not complaining。

It was an awesome begining, the way the main character got inspired to play volleyball is very cool!

I did not like the first half, i found it really boring, but as the book went on, it sort of got better。 I might continue on with the series but i did feel like there wasnt a massive plot line and i felt like there were some bits that didn't need to be included。 I did not like the first half, i found it really boring, but as the book went on, it sort of got better。 I might continue on with the series but i did feel like there wasnt a massive plot line and i felt like there were some bits that didn't need to be included。 。。。more

This was my first time reading manga and I read it on my phone so it was a little confusing at first but this was amazing! I can’t wait to read the second one!

I would never have picked up a sports manga of my own accord - I'm not that interested in the genre。 But Haikyu is straight-up one of the best executed manga (and anime) I've read。 The characters are so likeable and the team dynamics were very satisfying。 The character development is also so well done, paced well, and remained realistic。 A character who seemingly overcomes a problem one chapter isn't magically 'fixed' for the rest of the series。 They continue to struggle with these changes。 Desp I would never have picked up a sports manga of my own accord - I'm not that interested in the genre。 But Haikyu is straight-up one of the best executed manga (and anime) I've read。 The characters are so likeable and the team dynamics were very satisfying。 The character development is also so well done, paced well, and remained realistic。 A character who seemingly overcomes a problem one chapter isn't magically 'fixed' for the rest of the series。 They continue to struggle with these changes。 Despite the enormous rosters inherent to sports manga, the author made every team stand out。 Minor characters remained distinct, likeable, and even had their own moving character moments。 There's a lot of details to love - the pacing, the way the author manages to make even low-stakes practice matches exciting and tense, the incredible art that brings the movement of volleyball to life。 But ultimately, the passion the characters felt for volleyball comes through every part of the story。 I may not love volleyball myself, but that geniuine love made Haikyu very moving。 It's in my top five favorite manga and I don't forsee that changing anytime soon。 。。。more

Rating: 4。5 starsThis honestly surprised me with how much I liked it。 Not only did it make me want to read the rest of the series, it also made me want to watch the anime! I laughed out loud several times and I find myself adoring some of the characters already, which is a very good sign! I think a lot of it might have to do with the fact that I find a lot of similarities between the two main characters in this volume and Neil and Kevin from The Foxhole Court, which is a favourite of mine。 A spo Rating: 4。5 starsThis honestly surprised me with how much I liked it。 Not only did it make me want to read the rest of the series, it also made me want to watch the anime! I see lots of potential here。 Good set-up but I'm not into it yet。 The characters are starting to be interesting by the end。 Except the protagonist is still pretty one-dimensional。 I like the premise seems to be more learning to work as a team than learning to get good like many other sports manga。 I see lots of potential here。 Good set-up but I'm not into it yet。 The characters are starting to be interesting by the end。 Except the protagonist is still pretty one-dimensional。 I like the premise seems to be more learning to work as a team than learning to get good like many other sports manga。 。。。more

Haikyuu!! Volume 1 Comparison to the TV show Haikyuu!! as a show is one of my favorite of all time, and the anime that got me into anime, so I had to check this out。 It is amazing! First of all, I want to give this man an award for panel layout alone; it was phenomenal! I'm used to the action and speed of the serves and jumps from the show, so I was wondering how that would work in the manga。 How can you make a jump seem fast like in the show? It was still wonderful, and probably done as best as Haikyuu!! It was still wonderful, and probably done as best as it could have been in this format, but I still like the action in the show simply because of its presentation。It was a bit weird in translation。 I watch most shows in sub, but I watch this one in dub (the dub is hilarious, I don't care about all those Haikyuu!! dub haters, have you guys heard Oikawa's VA??)。 Because of this, I am used to some phrases being worded differently。 For example, in this it is the small giant, not the tiny giant。 Or, it is the view from the top, not the view from the summit。 Little words like that can change it a, and I prefer the dub's translation a bit better, but this isn't a fault to Adrienne Beck's translation, she couldn't have known how the show would do it。 This is simply something to take note of。The characters were also on point。 I love Tanaka。 I love Tsukishima。 I love Tadashi。I love Sugawara。 And boy do I love the characters I am so looking forward to see in the next volumes。 。。。more
