Summary

Persephone is the Goddess of Spring by title only。 The truth is, since she was a little girl, flowers have shriveled at her touch。 After moving to New Athens, she hopes to lead an unassuming life disguised as a mortal journalist。

Hades, God of the Dead, has built a gambling empire in the mortal world and his favorite bets are rumored to be impossible。

After a chance encounter with Hades, Persephone finds herself in a contract with the God of the Dead and the terms are impossible: Persephone must create life in the Underworld or lose her freedom forever。

The bet does more than expose Persephone's failure as a goddess, however。 As she struggles to sow the seeds of her freedom, love for the God of the Dead grows--and it's forbidden。

This story just didn't live up to all the hype I've heard for it。 Was it bad, not really。 The problem was it wasn't terribly good either。 It reminded me too much of Lore Olympus。 This story just didn't live up to all the hype I've heard for it。 Was it bad, not really。 The problem was it wasn't terribly good either。 It reminded me too much of Lore Olympus。 。。。more

2。5 stars。 This was definitely smutty paranormal romance loosely based on a cross between the myths around Hades and Persephone with a touch of Pride and Prejudice the way Persephone was so prejudiced against Hades。 I should have loved this。 But there was no wit or fun like with dear Lizzy Bennet。 And although Hades was all a Goddess could hope for Persephone was just too freaking annoying。 Done。

After having major trust issues with tiktok recommendations, I was very hesitant to read this book。 However I was pleasantly surprised by this novel and ended up loving it。 If you ever wanted to see a well written AU verse of Hades and Persephone, I highly recommend it。 There’s just enough spice and plot that it’s a lovely balance。

ok HOT HOT HOT。 Hades and persephone with a modern twist on th story。 Plus steamy scenes, um yess

This is my favorite retelling of Hades and Persephone。 I think it had a unique spin。 Was the writing out of this world? No。 Do I care? Also no。 I enjoyed this book。 Devoured it in a day。 It had a bunch of my favorite tropes plus Greek gods。 How could I not love it?

I really wanted to like this but no lol。 Idk how people can compare this to ACOTAR & FBAA。。。 it’s not even close to their level。 There was nothing horrible about it? It was just bland。 I wouldn’t recommend。 There are so many better romantic fantasy series out there。

Mia

It’s addicting to read , i quite like it 。 Still There is a big but 。。。 it comes to an good end so easily。 I can’t imagine that the story line will be as good to read as this one

Reminded me of the ACOTAR series which I loved。 Overall an entertaining book! Very heavy in the romance department, which is always a fun addition。 I liked how the author used Greek gods but made them like celebrities in the mortal realm。 Basically the Greek gods were used for character inspiration but put into the modern world。 I’m not sure if I will read the other two books in the series, but I enjoyed this one。

Yeahhh, this book was a miss for me。 Both the writing style and plot were cheesy and reminiscent of the Wattpad romances I read in high school。 The main character was annoying, which was disappointing because I was really excited for the Hades/ Persephone retelling! The chemistry didn't really work for me either, and the whole thing was very predictable。 I'd say skip this one for sure。 Yeahhh, this book was a miss for me。 Both the writing style and plot were cheesy and reminiscent of the Wattpad romances I read in high school。 The main character was annoying, which was disappointing because I was really excited for the Hades/ Persephone retelling! It was very nice and just the right kind of story for me, for the mood I was in。 3。5 stars

Honestly was super excited about this, was a bit disappointing。 It ended up being written decently well, a little like a fan fiction, not as detailed and context driven。 The author assumes you know a lot about Greek mythology at the beginning。 It’s okay, not as exciting as I hoped but overall an easy read!

Fans of lore olympus with absolutely adore this series。 Oh my word, it's everything I could have asked for in this spin of Hades and Persephone。 Wow。 I could not put it down。 On to the next one! song for this book: Call Out My Name (The Weekend) YES YES YES ANGST CENTRAL !!! modern Persephone & Hades , think 365 Days but Greek Mythology。 alluring and curious undercover Goddess and high-class elite God brought together by contract but in love by fury

It was cute。 Persephone was stupid at times and her stupidity drove the plot。 The dialogue was pretty good and conveyed the sensual message the author wanted to express。 I also liked the modern take the author took on Greek mythology and life among gods。 But, it seemed like the connection between Hades and Persephone was pretty superficial and driven solely by sexual attraction。 Though I love me some good smut (which is in this book), it gets elevated when there is tension between the characters It was cute。 Persephone was stupid at times and her stupidity drove the plot。 The dialogue was pretty good and conveyed the sensual message the author wanted to express。 I also liked the modern take the author took on Greek mythology and life among gods。 But, it seemed like the connection between Hades and Persephone was pretty superficial and driven solely by sexual attraction。 Though I love me some good smut (which is in this book), it gets elevated when there is tension between the characters or an emotional connection。 And there was none。 The book spans 6 months but it felt much shorter than that, further showing the lack of a developed relationship。 It was cute。 I enjoyed it。 But it was no epic love story by any means。 。。。more

Ugh I didn't like this。 And I so badly wanted to。 But it read like a wattpad fan fiction。 The writing was predictable, and there was way too many cliches。 I didn't like the storyline and there were way too many sex scenes for my liking。 Ugh I didn't like this。 And I so badly wanted to。 But it read like a wattpad fan fiction。 The writing was predictable, and there was way too many cliches。 I didn't like the storyline and there were way too many sex scenes for my liking。 。。。more

I have never loved a book as much as I loved this one!Seriously, I’m not gonna lie when I first started reading this book, I was a little bit put off with the whole Persephone as a journalist thing。 Me off when I first read it because it was just so random and it wasn’t really explained in the beginning so naturally I made a head first judgment。But I was dumb as hell。 I literally began reading this book again because I saw the bookish box edition and it looks so beau Oh my freaking goodness!!!!! I hate that I absolutely loved this so much XDWhat a guilty pleasure read indeed but a fascinating take on Hades and Persephone。 My only big grip with it is that it felt very rushed at times and I wanted more wholesome moments to balance out the steam。 It would have been easier to buy into the romance this way。 Regardless, it was purely entertaining。

Was this the best book ever? No, but it is really compelling which makes it very easy to read。 It is hard to put down even when it makes you cringe。 There was little explanation to the insta-lust between Hades and Persephone。 The plot does not seem like the main focus at all but I read it in like a day and had a good time。

Christina

I really liked this book, it was a fun read。 I’m hooked。

A few years ago when I was starting to get into Greek Mythology, after reading Percy Jackson, I never thought I would like Hades。 He started off as one of my least favourite God。 Something must have changed since then, maybe from reading Lore Olympus, but now Hades has become my favourite God which was only solidified while reading A Touch of Darkness。 Hades and Persephone have such an interesting story and I love retellings of their relationship。 I love it when the sweet, innocent Persephone ch A few years ago when I was starting to get into Greek Mythology, after reading Percy Jackson, I never thought I would like Hades。 He started off as one of my least favourite God。 Something must have changed since then, maybe from reading Lore Olympus, but now Hades has become my favourite God which was only solidified while reading A Touch of Darkness。 Hades and Persephone have such an interesting story and I love retellings of their relationship。 I love it when the sweet, innocent Persephone character finds herself drawn to a dark, mysterious, and possibly dangerous Hades。𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐬𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐩𝐮𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐲, 𝐢𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐧𝐢𝐛𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐚𝐭 𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐞𝐚𝐫。 "𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐦𝐞," 𝐬𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐢𝐝, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐬 𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭 𝐡𝐢𝐦。 𝐇𝐢𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐝𝐮𝐠 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐧, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧, 𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝐛𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐬 𝐬𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝。 "𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐈 𝐰𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮。"A Touch of Darkness was so good。 It had a great hate to love relationship full of misunderstanding, lust, sexual tension, overprotectiveness, sweet moments, anger, and the inability to stay away from each other for too long。 Persephone was so determined to hate Hades, she blinded herself to all the good things he does。 But Hades does do good things and inside he is a good person, much better than a lot of the other Gods。 He just lets the world believe the worst of him。In the end, Hades and Persephone made the perfect couple, they had their ups and downs but it was all worth it when you consider how rare their love is。 There is one point where Aphrodite confronts Persephone and admits that even though she is the goddess of love it wasn't until she saw Hades with Persephone that she actually believed in love。 The Gods don't fall in love。 They have affairs and lovers but never true love。𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐞。 𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐢𝐭 𝐮𝐧𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞。 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐢𝐭 𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫。This book was so addictive, I didn't want to put it down and I probably could have read it in a day if I didn't have work。 I'm so excited for the rest of the series and to see more of Hades, Persephone, and the other Gods。 。。。more

“Respect could build an empire。 Trust could make it unbreakable。 Love could make it last forever” Wooowwwww! Oh。 My。 Gods did I love this book。 This book is New Adult/Adult Fantasy。 18+ It was so hot, sexy, passionate and happy。 I didn’t know a lot about Greek mythology before I started reading this so I did end up doing some research to have a better understanding and I’m glad i did。 So many more things made sense。 The love story retelling between Persephone and Hades was so beautiful and HOT。 “Respect could build an empire。 Trust could make it unbreakable。 Love could make it last forever” Wooowwwww! I've been on a Hades and Persephone kick lately and heard good things about this one。 Overall, I enjoyed it but a few things bothered me。 The world building in this book is pretty wild - Gods and Goddesses are long living, there is a back story of a war and Gods coming to Earth, Gods and Goddesses look extremely immortal and have horns but they can also glamour themselves。 No one knows that Persephone is a Goddess and she likes passing as a mortal。 All this was interesting to find out and I felt I've been on a Hades and Persephone kick lately and heard good things about this one。 Overall, I enjoyed it but a few things bothered me。 The world building in this book is pretty wild - Gods and Goddesses are long living, there is a back story of a war and Gods coming to Earth, Gods and Goddesses look extremely immortal and have horns but they can also glamour themselves。 No one knows that Persephone is a Goddess and she likes passing as a mortal。 All this was interesting to find out and I felt pretty immersed in the story from the get go。 What I struggled with was one of the side characters, one of the few who is described as "burnished bronze" or something like that, seemingly would be identified as a person of color, is a huge baddie, sexual assaulter and all around butthead。 I like when my fantasy is specific in racial descriptions AND I want authors to be cognizant of arcs they give for characters that can be assumed are POC。 It was something I noticed right away and turned me off a bit。 Overall, I enjoyed this。 Persephone is kind of annoying and I wish we had more Hades POV or just understood his thoughts sooner, but it was decent。 。。。more

Four solid stars。 Definitely zero to light plot。 The plot is the love story。 I loved the concept of the story, Persephone irritated me at times with the whole damsel in distress but overall I enjoyed the story。 I may continue the series :)
