Summary

For more than two decades, legendary trainer Tim Grover has taken the greats—Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Dwyane Wade, and dozens more—and made them greater。 Now, for the first time in paperback, he reveals what it takes to get those results, showing you how to be relentless and achieve whatever you desire。

Fore more than two decades, legendary trainer Tim Grover has taken the greats—Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Dwayne Wade, and dozens more—and made them greater。 Now, for the first time ever, he reveals what it takes to get those results, showing you how to be relentless and achieve whatever you desire。

Direct, blunt, and brutally honest, Grover breaks down what it takes to be unstoppable: you keep going when everyone else is giving up, you thrive under pressure, you never let your emotions make you weak。 In “The Relentless 13,” he details the essential traits shared by the most intense competitors and achievers in sports, business, and all walks of life。 Relentless shows you how to trust your instincts and get in the Zone; how to control and adapt to any situation; how to find your opponent’s weakness and attack。 Grover gives you the same advice he gives his world-class clients—“don’t think”—and shows you that anything is possible。 Packed with previously untold stories and unparalleled insight into the psyches of the most successful and accomplished athletes of our time, Relentless shows you how even the best get better 。 。 。 and how you can too。

Great personal development book。 Everyone should read it。 How to be unapologetically the best!!

Essentially a description of the take-no-prisoners mentality that drives top athletes, delivered as a kind of motivational speech - the core message being "just f****** do it and then don't stop doing it"。 It won't be for everyone, but it found that I quite needed and enjoyed the kick in the butt it provides。 Essentially a description of the take-no-prisoners mentality that drives top athletes, delivered as a kind of motivational speech - the core message being "just f****** do it and then don't stop doing it"。 It won't be for everyone, but it found that I quite needed and enjoyed the kick in the butt it provides。 。。。more

This was super not for me。 There was a page that I thought it was, where he talked about a bus driver or secretary at the top of their game。 But for the most part I really struggled with understanding how the Zone applies to a non-professional athlete, non-CEO person like myself。 The writing wasn’t particularly gripping either。 For me it seemed more about name dropping (I would do that too if I worked with Michael Jordan!) than advice or insight into how I can be great at my less visible project This was super not for me。 There was a page that I thought it was, where he talked about a bus driver or secretary at the top of their game。 But for the most part I really struggled with understanding how the Zone applies to a non-professional athlete, non-CEO person like myself。 The writing wasn’t particularly gripping either。 For me it seemed more about name dropping (I would do that too if I worked with Michael Jordan!) than advice or insight into how I can be great at my less visible project management job than how to be a stone cold killer on the basketball court。 He says you’ll either get it or you won’t, and he was right! 。。。more

This book gives you so much energy to go out there and achieve the things that you and everyone around are saying they're not possible。Teaches you how to focus and be the best at what you do without comparing yourself to others。 This book gives you so much energy to go out there and achieve the things that you and everyone around are saying they're not possible。Teaches you how to focus and be the best at what you do without comparing yourself to others。 。。。more

Some parts made me motivated to push more in certain aspects of my life, and that’s what I’ll take away from the book。But I didn’t really like the general idea that in order to be “relentless” or a “cleaner” you needed to be an ass and listen to noone。 I’m sure it’s mostly true, but to me there are limits to explain some people’s behaviours, and just because they needed to release some pressure from being “cleaners”, or were following “their path” doesnt excuse their poor behaviours。I feel like Some parts made me motivated to push more in certain aspects of my life, and that’s what I’ll take away from the book。But I didn’t really like the general idea that in order to be “relentless” or a “cleaner” you needed to be an ass and listen to noone。 I’m sure it’s mostly true, but to me there are limits to explain some people’s behaviours, and just because they needed to release some pressure from being “cleaners”, or were following “their path” doesnt excuse their poor behaviours。I feel like cheating on your spouse, or doing drugs or whatever because that’s your only way to release pressure from how great you are is just a massive copout。 Some people can be rich, famous, successful, and decent human beings too。 。。。more

Do you want to be the best? Of course you do, as humans we are innately competitive and love to strive for success and recognition。 We want to perfect whatever it is that we are passionate about and succeed。 Success is such a loosely defined term, however "Relentless" by Tim Grover will absolutely help you create and forge your own definition of what success means to you。 This book is about changing your life and channeling grit and determination。 It is about doing whatever it takes to succeed a Do you want to be the best? A good book on leadership and achieving goals。 It helped point out my own blindspots in taking ownership of my work as Grover takes a zero-tolerance approach to making excuses。 The book can be “wordy” at times because he writes in a conversational style, but it is clear throughout he is passionate about getting results and can pull a lot from his career to make his case。

Great read, it is intense but I think it gives great perspective about working hard and how to mentally change your way of thinking to achieve your goals。

If Machiavelli wrote a self-help book it would read similarly to this。 This isn’t meant to be a compliment or a negative statement, just an observation。 Like any Machiavellian tract, I feel that those who are most likely to gravitate towards its message are the least capable of following it。 There’s some great tips in the book and I am going to take some of the insights and try to graft them into my life。 Yet, I do question if I have the constitutional fortitude to sacrifice the way that is dema If Machiavelli wrote a self-help book it would read similarly to this。 This isn’t meant to be a compliment or a negative statement, just an observation。 Like any Machiavellian tract, I feel that those who are most likely to gravitate towards its message are the least capable of following it。 There’s some great tips in the book and I am going to take some of the insights and try to graft them into my life。 Yet, I do question if I have the constitutional fortitude to sacrifice the way that is demanded by the book。 。。。more

I like the straightforward, no bullshit approach。 He definitely appeals to the competitive athlete。 I like the categorization of competitive types, and that will stick with me。 I don't necessarily agree with his entire perspective, but his methods are (clearly) effective and appeal to the elite few "Cleaners"。 It was a fueling read at the time。 I like the straightforward, no bullshit approach。 He definitely appeals to the competitive athlete。 I like the categorization of competitive types, and that will stick with me。 I don't necessarily agree with his entire perspective, but his methods are (clearly) effective and appeal to the elite few "Cleaners"。 It was a fueling read at the time。 。。。more

This book is hardcore。 One of the best reads I’ve had on mindset。 From the personal coach of the great Kobe Bean Bryant, Michael Jordan, Dwayne Wade and many more, Tim Grover shows how greats think and hunts。 I’ll keep returning to this book over and over and over again。

This book was pointless。 Not well written and poorly structured with a lot of repetition。 Only looking through a Lens for high performance, killer competitors - I didn’t get a lot that could be put to use。 I got to page 175 and bailed。

This is a great book about peak performance。 Tim Grover has built his career working with some of the top athletes in the world and making them even greater。 He divides athletes into three categories: 1。 The Cooler2。The Closer3。 The CleanerCOOLERA person that you give a job to, and you will get the desired result。 You will not get anything above that or extraordinary。 The desired result will be satisfactory, and in the borders of what you asked for。 You are not going to get anything exceptional。 This is a great book about peak performance。 Tim Grover has built his career working with some of the top athletes in the world and making them even greater。 He divides athletes into three categories: 1。 The Cooler2。The Closer3。 The CleanerCOOLERA person that you give a job to, and you will get the desired result。 You will not get anything above that or extraordinary。 The desired result will be satisfactory, and in the borders of what you asked for。 You are not going to get anything exceptional。CLOSERCloser is a level above cooler。 Closers are people that you can give a task to do and they will deliver great results back 。 They will deliver it the majority of the time, as long as not too many variables are thrown at them。CLEANERThis is a whole new level, a “ I do not think” person。 They are so well prepared, they do not think and just do。 They spend hours and hours of time (years actually) getting prepared, that no matter what is thrown at them they are going to deliver that end result at all times, over and over and over again。 They will be exceptional at it。 Their instincts are so dead-on, that no matter what variable, what problem is thrown at them, they can adjust on the fly and have the ability to get themselves in the “zone”。Tim Grover talks about a few of the athletes he has worked with, from the late Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan。 Reading this book made me also think of soccer super star, Cristiano Ronaldo and how he is a cleaner too。 These lessons from sport can be applied in business too。 This is one of the best quotes I got from the book: "A great leader knows the best way to get people to raise their performance is to put them where they can truly excel, not just where you want them to excel。 Cleaners don't block others from reaching the top with them, if they're capable and ready。"Overall a great read, especially if you are one of those people wanting to keep doing better and better。 。。。more

I've just finished the book and I finished after "Ego is your Enemy"。 Somewhat my expectation was that there will be a lot of boasting and ego stroking。 In some sense there was, but in the bigger sense there wasn't。 Tim explained things as it is。First of all, there's not much on how to actually be relentless other than that is actually a choice you make。Secondly, the book is advertising mostly with a few peaks into the training and thought process of Michael Jordan and Kobe。 Although there's no I've just finished the book and I finished after "Ego is your Enemy"。 Somewhat my expectation was that there will be a lot of boasting and ego stroking。 In some sense there was, but in the bigger sense there wasn't。 Tim explained things as it is。First of all, there's not much on how to actually be relentless other than that is actually a choice you make。Secondly, the book is advertising mostly with a few peaks into the training and thought process of Michael Jordan and Kobe。 Although there's no peaks into the training details or protocols。You might be able to find a few nuggets, not a lot though。P。S。 Forgot to add that for a professional sport player this might a good read。 。。。more
