A mix of “oohs”, “aahs”, & “damns”。。。 That’s essentially what I kept saying throughout this whole book。 (Clarification: I say “damn” in this particular context to mean “that hits deep/it’s written so well/holy crap I can’t believe he or she wrote that”—aka a good thing。)I absolutely LOVE Shelby’s style of poetry! Everything about this book is just so “soft”! Whether it’s a sad, happy, or aesthetically pleasing effect, there’s a tenderness in her words/poems that soothes my SOUL。At the time I d A mix of “oohs”, “aahs”, & “damns”。。。 That’s essentially what I kept saying throughout this whole book。 (Clarification: I say “damn” in this particular context to mean “that hits deep/it’s written so well/holy crap I can’t believe he or she wrote that”—aka a good thing。)I absolutely LOVE Shelby’s style of poetry! Whether it’s a sad, happy, or aesthetically pleasing effect, there’s a tenderness in her words/poems that soothes my SOUL。At the time I decided to pick up this book, I really needed to read a poem like “Passion”。 Struggling with the fear & panic of potentially losing my passion for writing, that last stanza really got me。 An incredible reminder for all poets, writers, & dreamers。This is certainly a book I’m honored to have on my bookshelf! 。。。more

I enjoy poetry but this book didn't impress me that much。 I did enjoy some poems but I love poetry that moves me and leaves a mark and sadly this one wasn't it。 My favourites were Journal, Missing and Untouched。 I do think this author has potential and considering this is her first book I will give the next ones a chance as well。 I enjoy poetry but this book didn't impress me that much。 I did enjoy some poems but I love poetry that moves me and leaves a mark and sadly this one wasn't it。 My favourites were Journal, Missing and Untouched。 I do think this author has potential and considering this is her first book I will give the next ones a chance as well。 。。。more

I loved these poems, not all of them were the best but some just hit you hard in the heart。 I had to read some twice just to admire her writing。

3。5 stars I really liked a great deal of the poems there i found them so emotional and some parts were so touchy but one negative comment is that the repetition of the ideas but other than that Well done。

A good and quick readThis collection is full of sweet pieces and some sad ones。 I enjoyed it as a nice and quick read。 I think the writer does well with her imagery and love how she writes about writing, love and heartbreak。 Excited to read her second book!

Love Shelby's styleI've been a fan of Shelby's writing for a while now。 I loved her second book and was so pleased to enjoy her first collection just as much。 Easy and relatable reading。 Will definitely recommend to friends。 Love Shelby's styleI've been a fan of Shelby's writing for a while now。 I loved her second book and was so pleased to enjoy her first collection just as much。 Easy and relatable reading。 Will definitely recommend to friends。 。。。more

This wasn’t bad for the readers first book。 The poems are relatable and true。 Some are beautifully crafted。 The poetry is somewhat scattered and hard to follow。 Having said that, it’s a great expression of emotion and pretty powerful for a first time author。 I would have liked the poems to dig a little deeper。 It was very short, I’m hoping there are more collections!

A new FAN!I’ve become your newest fan! Love your writing。 Love the style in it。 I can’t wait for the next work of art you have in mind!

A lovely piece of Shelby’s heart went into this book & you can feel it within her pieces。 Both sad and hopeful, the imagery within this book, nature related and otherwise, are well chosen and executed for the subject matter。 I feel lucky to have met Shelby through instagram, & look forward to seeing where her writing takes her in the future。

There were a few poems I enjoyed but overall I wasn't the biggest fan of the writing and somehow the poems felt impersonal to me。 There were a few poems I enjoyed but overall I wasn't the biggest fan of the writing and somehow the poems felt impersonal to me。 。。。more

Based on the current reviews I seem to have an unpopular opinion about this collection of poems。 I like 5 out of 62 poems。 I found most every poem mentioned a generic "you" and read like bad relationship Tumblr quotes。 The 5 poems I did like were towards the end of the collection in the "recovery" portion of going through a breakup; a lot less "you" happening there。 The other poems were about love but were not relatable。 Which is odd b/c either everyone has experienced or would like to experienc Based on the current reviews I seem to have an unpopular opinion about this collection of poems。 I like 5 out of 62 poems。 I found most every poem mentioned a generic "you" and read like bad relationship Tumblr quotes。 The 5 poems I did like were towards the end of the collection in the "recovery" portion of going through a breakup; a lot less "you" happening there。 The other poems were about love but were not relatable。 Which is odd b/c either everyone has experienced or would like to experience being in love。 I would think the poems, even if they had some specific details about a relationship, should still be relatable or at least beautifully written。 Unfortunately, this was neither for me。 。。。more

It was cute, some poems stood out more than others but if you’re looking for a quick one and have time to kill, then this is perfect! I flew through this in like under a half hour!

A masterful debutThis is one of those books where you find yourself baffled to discover this is the author's first poetry and not her tenth because the poems are all so good。 I'm not the person to highlight or mark notes, but there are so many good lines I couldn't help myself。 The long poems especially paint such a vivid picture, you wish there was more。 A masterful debutThis is one of those books where you find yourself baffled to discover this is the author's first poetry and not her tenth because the poems are all so good。 I'm not the person to highlight or mark notes, but there are so many good lines I couldn't help myself。 The long poems especially paint such a vivid picture, you wish there was more。 。。。more

I have just finished this amazing collection of poetry by Shelby。 I loved the themes she explores in her poems。 I found myself highlighted a lot more of my favourite passages then I thought I would。 I definitely recommend this book and will probably keep reading many more times。 'Mountain Song' will be hands down the best one to me。 I have just finished this amazing collection of poetry by Shelby。 I loved the themes she explores in her poems。 I found myself highlighted a lot more of my favourite passages then I thought I would。 I definitely recommend this book and will probably keep reading many more times。 'Mountain Song' will be hands down the best one to me。 。。。more

I randomly came across this author on Twitter when she posted that her collection would be free on Amazon for the day。 Some of the poems felt a bit cliche, but some of them I really loved。 I gravitated more towards the poems of loss and the power of words/writing。  For a free copy, I can't really complain :) I randomly came across this author on Twitter when she posted that her collection would be free on Amazon for the day。 Some of the poems felt a bit cliche, but some of them I really loved。 I gravitated more towards the poems of loss and the power of words/writing。  For a free copy, I can't really complain :) 。。。more

you became every word I wanted someone to tell me even if you said it with silence you let me spill tears on your shoulder even though it left a stain and you never forgot a single detail while I poured my heart out every day yet I abandoned you as I always do when you ran out of space for me I'm gonna admit this: I liked this book way better than my three star review can admit。 While it does have some beautiful poems and especially good lines, the reason I liked it so much it's because it w you became every word I wanted someone to tell me even if you said it with silence you let me spill tears on your shoulder even though it left a stain and you never forgot a single detail while I poured my heart out every day yet I abandoned you as I always do when you ran out of space for me I'm gonna admit this: I liked this book way better than my three star review can admit。 While it does have some beautiful poems and especially good lines, the reason I liked it so much it's because it was incredible relatable in my life right now (and that's, I think, a sign of good poetry)。 So it's like an A++ read for me, even if it's a lot like most modern poetry books around here。 Although— it indeed was a lot like "generic modern poetry book" but at the same time the message was entirely different, if you ask me。 You can feel it in a subtle way, but still there: you can survive a broken heart。 I fell for you the way most writers do admiring small details and poorly written haikus people will think it's fiction that I felt you in my veins when my blood turned to ink and you still consumed my brain I filled up each and every page with all my love for you but when the words ran out it seems your love did too 。。。more

Simple and quietly emotional pieces。 My favorites were "We All Fall Down" and "It Ends Like This。" I'd very much enjoy to see another collection by this poet to see how time has progressed her talent。 Simple and quietly emotional pieces。 My favorites were "We All Fall Down" and "It Ends Like This。" I'd very much enjoy to see another collection by this poet to see how time has progressed her talent。 。。。more
