I have only recently picked up poetry。 I found this collection to be a wonderful representation of young summer love。 It filled my mind with summer essence by reminding me of summer sounds and warmth。 It felt young and current。 The one flaw in my eyes with this collection is that some of the poems felt more like thoughts rather than an expression or emotion。

To start, I'll admit that I'm not a huge poetry fan。 This one was one of the books chosen from my book club。 I dreaded this month's book with a passion because I never liked trying to unfold the depths of a poem that's 5 pages long。 It's just not a good read to me if I have to interpret what the writer was trying to say。 I understand the appeal that this may bring to some, but never for me。These poems however are short and sweet。 Easy to digest, easy to understand。 Granted, I didn't fall in love To start, I'll admit that I'm not a huge poetry fan。 This one was one of the books chosen from my book club。 I dreaded this month's book with a passion because I never liked trying to unfold the depths of a poem that's 5 pages long。 It's just not a good read to me if I have to interpret what the writer was trying to say。 I understand the appeal that this may bring to some, but never for me。These poems however are short and sweet。 Easy to digest, easy to understand。 Granted, I didn't fall in love with every one。 But, I fell in love with about 10。 That's a pretty good start。 Also, the pictures are stunning。 It's worth the price just for the pictures。 。。。more

Atticus's words are water to the soul, they are fulfilling。 I love how his poetry is twenty first century and it's to the point, and it expresses the right amount of emotions。 Atticus's words are water to the soul, they are fulfilling。 I love how his poetry is twenty first century and it's to the point, and it expresses the right amount of emotions。 。。。more

I wanted to love this book, but a lot of it wasn't very substantial。 The photos included were sometimes not of great quality and didn't seem to add much value to the text。 The first section of the book was the worst, which was strange because that is usually the part you want to use to draw readers in。 Some poems were moving, but a majority were not my favorite。 Seemed like they published a Tumblr account into a book。 I wanted to love this book, but a lot of it wasn't very substantial。 The photos included were sometimes not of great quality and didn't seem to add much value to the text。 The first section of the book was the worst, which was strange because that is usually the part you want to use to draw readers in。 Some poems were moving, but a majority were not my favorite。 Seemed like they published a Tumblr account into a book。 。。。more

This is being described as Instagram poetry, and if I saw it on Instagram I might think ‘wow, that’s deep’ and then keep scrolling。 Printing this on paper is a waste of trees。 Should have stayed on Instagram。 I really didn’t think it was good。 I used the audio book to fall asleep to。

some made me laugh, majority made me cringe, a few made me audibly sigh from its beauty。 and for the entire time i was wondering how these instagram caption type poems got on the new yorks times。 makes me wonder whether my book will be a bestseller。

I absolutely LOVE this book and should purchase so that I can pick up to read at anytime and have the bliss of sweetness on my lips- some short, some long, some heavy, some just a note in a song, but I loved most of them all for they unlock what your heart wants to say

I don't know why the poets are being so unpoetic。。。 I did not like the poems a lot。 I don't know why the poets are being so unpoetic。。。 I did not like the poems a lot。 。。。more

I know that Atticus is kind of controversial at this point in the poetry community, but I'm just going to say it: this collection was lovely。Most of the negative reviews I've read say that the poet is overhyped, and while that might be slightly true -- this is not groundbreaking, revolutionary, life-changing poetry -- that doesn't mean it's not good。 The vocabulary was simple, and the poems were easy to read yet sweet and wholesome, and they made me swoon。 I loved most of them, and some of them I know that Atticus is kind of controversial at this point in the poetry community, but I'm just going to say it: this collection was lovely。Most of the negative reviews I've read say that the poet is overhyped, and while that might be slightly true -- this is not groundbreaking, revolutionary, life-changing poetry -- that doesn't mean it's not good。 The vocabulary was simple, and the poems were easy to read yet sweet and wholesome, and they made me swoon。 I loved most of them, and some of them I had to reread many times in hopes of never forgetting them。I also appreciate that Atticus has made his poetry so accessible。 It is easy to read, and it has led many to pick up poetry who might otherwise not have。 He is breaking down the walls of poetry, showing that it does not have to be daunting, and is opening up the world of poetry to a whole new audience。 。。。more

It felt like eating waffles and syrup for breakfast。 It makes you feel warm and even manages to cloak despondency, melancholy and ardor under pink little petals。 :)

It is quite romantic, like I'm a single boat in the ocean of love, being swayed from side to side, not yet equipped to dive in。 It is quite romantic, like I'm a single boat in the ocean of love, being swayed from side to side, not yet equipped to dive in。 。。。more

Bad。 Really bad。

it's okay, more of a picture book than a poetry book made me feel like I was a little kid reading kindergarten stories。 kinda bad and Instagram poems don't really have any substance to them and they're cheesy asl。 some of them are pretty and meaningful and good for a visual refresher so it's okay at best。 it's okay, more of a picture book than a poetry book made me feel like I was a little kid reading kindergarten stories。 kinda bad and Instagram poems don't really have any substance to them and they're cheesy asl。 some of them are pretty and meaningful and good for a visual refresher so it's okay at best。 。。。more

hmm i suppose i don’t know how to read poetry。 i like him better on ig than in a book but i also suppose having the paper copy would make the experience much bigger much brighter much more everything。 many nice thoughts but also many average thoughts in my opinion。 i felt very confused about what some of his views were。。? like at some point i felt like ooooh progressive and then not so; a bit confusing。 anyway, somewhat bittersweet。

So, this is an example of what I mean when I say modern poetry, or Instagram-y type poetry or whatever this is, is not my thing。 I did mark a few poems in the first part "Love" though。 However, I don't think I'll ever pick this book up on a whim to reread what I marked。There were also two poems that referenced mental illness and I can say that I did not relate at all。 In fact “Brushing a girl’s hair behind her ear once a day will solve more problems than all those therapists and drugs。” might be So, this is an example of what I mean when I say modern poetry, or Instagram-y type poetry or whatever this is, is not my thing。 I did mark a few poems in the first part "Love" though。 However, I don't think I'll ever pick this book up on a whim to reread what I marked。There were also two poems that referenced mental illness and I can say that I did not relate at all。 In fact “Brushing a girl’s hair behind her ear once a day will solve more problems than all those therapists and drugs。” might be quite a damaging statement。 。。。more

The first two-thirds was a waste of paper — too-short poems that don’t even need to be interpreted。 Basically just sentences cut up to resemble poems。 I liked the last third though, bc these poems made me *feel* something。 That’s about it。

Every girl,if you leave her alonelong enough, willeventuallysingand dance。so per se, this is my first poetry book, and i love it。 by the end of it, i had tears in my eyes。 i thought i was in another realm。 i loved it so much。and this book? it wasn't about loving her wild, it was about love, her and the wild ( within us) if that makes sense。 but it did make sense to me。 a lot if i'm being honest! ”True artcomesfrom flyingwith the madnessso closeyou burnyour eyelashes。”I keep searching for a collection of poems that will speak to me, and then feel like a punch to the throat。 One that leaves you thinking, searching, confused。 This was not it。 Albeit, I did enjoy the pictures。 Some of them really brought the poetry to life。 There are two things that I was missing; the first thing being storytelling and the second being a sort of madness。 In regards to the storytelling, there wasn’t really ”True artcomesfrom flyingwith the madnessso closeyou burnyour eyelashes。”I keep searching for a collection of poems that will speak to me, and then feel like a punch to the throat。 One that leaves you thinking, searching, confused。 This was not it。 Albeit, I did enjoy the pictures。 Some of them really brought the poetry to life。 There are two things that I was missing; the first thing being storytelling and the second being a sort of madness。 In regards to the storytelling, there wasn’t really a structure or a feeling of small stories that together tell a bigger one。 And when it comes to madness, I wish it was more out there。 More personal, and not so generic-feeling。 This feels like a collection of inspirational tumblr-quotes。 It’s especially funny since the poem above is hinting at what I’m looking for。 Where is the madness? Even the most tranquil poems can be mad, in that they sneak up on you and bring out feelings you didn’t know you had。 I wish Atticus would have went mad, because I can feel the mad love under the surface just waiting for the opportunity for the words to bring it out。 。。。more

I'm not a reader of modern poetry and other than Mary Oliver, I'd say this is the only book of poetry I've read that has been published in the last 20 years。 I feel I can't comment on this poetry to a large extent because I'm not sure how modern poetry operates。 Even so I, personally, didn't find what I was looking for in these pages。 Or rather, I didn't find anything in these pages。 I may have to read more of Atticus' poetry to reach a full conclusion though, one day。 Cheers!
