Summary

What will you hear when you read this book to a preschool child?

Lots of noise!

Children will chant the rhythmic words。 They'll make the sounds the animals make。 And they'll pretend to be the zoo animals featured in the book—look at the last page!

Bill Martin Jr。 and Eric Carle are two of the most respected names in children's education and children's illustrations。 This collaboration, their first since the classic Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? (published more than thirty years ago and still a bestseller) shows two masters at their best。

Love the illustrations of the story。 Love the sound words in this book。 This book could be used to teach students about their hearing sense。

Be prepared for your classroom or house to be very noisy when you read this book。 The noises that are made make this book very engaging and fun to read。

My toddler had a lot of fun making the noises that each animal heard。

This has a nice rhyming going for it, and I love these illustrations as well。 Board books last for several years and are well worth buying up at second hand stores。

Brilliant illustrations!!

This book seems to be a sequel to Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? written by the same writer and done by the same illustrator。 I think that this book ahs more detailed images and is better produced than the original book。 The drawings of the Boa Constuctor and the Cheetah are my favorite。

The combination of artwork and the rhythmic story makes this a classic。

A great way for early readers to make sounds animals do。 I love the rhyming and the illustration。

Polar bear, Polar bear, what do you hear is a fantastic book to teach children colors, animal type, and the sounds they make, rhythmic words, and counting。 Reading the book and looking at the illustration is eye-catching for younger children to hold their attention。 Great book!

Love all of the board books in this series。 Toddler enjoys the anticipation of guessing what is seen on the next page。 Helpful in learning colors, animals, sounds, etc。 Book quality is wonderful as well。 Overall, such a fun book and a great attention grabber for participation。

This book has great illustrations and is a great book for building a child's vocabulary of animals。 I would use this book to discuss the different animals and talk about what we use to hear with。 This book has great illustrations and is a great book for building a child's vocabulary of animals。 I would use this book to discuss the different animals and talk about what we use to hear with。 。。。more

This is a great book to introduce different zoo animals to young children。 The children can then hear and try to imitate the sounds of the different animals。 After a few times of the children hearing the story read to them the children may start to read the story themselves because the repetition of the words makes it easier for them。

Doesn't really teach animal sounds。 Doesn't really teach animal sounds。 。。。more

Elliot

Elliot is currently obsessed with Eric Carle books, particularly the Bear books。 This one has a different feel since it’s about heating rather than seeing animals (like Brown Bear, Brown Bear), so there are a lot of animal sounds mentioned, such as snorting, braying, roaring, hissing, and even some I’m not familiar with (fluting?) *Read-aloud to Elliot at 1。5 years old

Rachel Guy

This is a great book to introduce children to many different animals and the sounds they can make (e。g。 flamingo fluting and leopard snarling)。 There's a ton of repetition and beautiful illustrations。Age: Infant-ToddlerCompanion Book: Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?
