Summary

Luffy's pirates thought they were just stopping in for a quick bite。。。but now Luffy's been made a busboy on Baratie, the oceangoing restaurant, and it turns out some of the worst-mannered pirates on the Grand Line are just dying for a meal。

Always one to look on the bright side, Luffy sets his sights on Sanji, the smart-talking, skirt-chasing assistant chef on the Baratie, as the Merry Go's new cook。 But it'll take more than a vicious pirate battle and a little sweet talking from Nami to convince him to leave the Baratie and join Luffy's team。 His oath to feed any and all pirates in need keeps getting in the way。 The question is: what do you do when the very same pirates you just fed now want to serve you up for dinner?

Cielos!

I had completely forgotten how early Mihawk makes his appearance in this series, but his win against Zoro basically launches Zoro’s pledge to never lose a sword fight again (which I believe is a pledge he has kept, but don’t quote me on that)。This volume ends with Usopp, a wounded Zoro, and his two pirate hunter friends chasing after Nami who has stolen Merry and a whole bunch of treasure during all of the drama。 However, she doesn’t seem particularly happy about abandoning her new friends, but I had completely forgotten how early Mihawk makes his appearance in this series, but his win against Zoro basically launches Zoro’s pledge to never lose a sword fight again (which I believe is a pledge he has kept, but don’t quote me on that)。This volume ends with Usopp, a wounded Zoro, and his two pirate hunter friends chasing after Nami who has stolen Merry and a whole bunch of treasure during all of the drama。 However, she doesn’t seem particularly happy about abandoning her new friends, but her hands are metaphorically tied by another pirate we just haven’t met yet。 Meanwhile, Luffy stays behind to help Sanji and the cooks of Baratie fend off Don Krieg。 。。。more

Absolutely fucking bananas。 Someone chops up a galleon with a sword and it’s not even the main incident。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 One Piece is one of the greatest manga/comics I have ever read, the reasons for this are shown in volume 6。 This volume introduces us the the “Baratie” boat restaurant。 I made a deep emotional connection with Sanji, a character introduced in this arc when we see his backstory and ties to other characters。 The action sequences are great and the art is sequential and on point。 5 stars

I really liked the Baratie arc when I first went through it。 I still think it's a lot of fun。 The main villain of this section of the story is really lame, though。 Oda doesn't start hitting us with good villains until Crocodile。 Before that they were just pathetic。 I'm glad he steps it up gradually as things carry on。 One of the reasons the East Blue saga rubbed me the wrong way was because of how terrible the villains were。 Even Arlong was subpar。 It's all still fun, don't get me wrong, but not I really liked the Baratie arc when I first went through it。 I still think it's a lot of fun。 The main villain of this section of the story is really lame, though。 Oda doesn't start hitting us with good villains until Crocodile。 Before that they were just pathetic。 I'm glad he steps it up gradually as things carry on。 One of the reasons the East Blue saga rubbed me the wrong way was because of how terrible the villains were。 Even Arlong was subpar。 It's all still fun, don't get me wrong, but not mind-blowing in any sense。 。。。more

In my head, when the swordsman Roronoa Zolo (Zoro???) realizes he's been beaten by his opponent, who is the world's greatest swordsman, and he turns, arms outstretched to accept the killing blow, and he says "Wounds on the back are a swordsmans shame", and then his opponent, SWORDSMAN DRACULA (character name Hawkeye Mihawk which is a fucking COOL as HELL name) pauses for a moment in admiration at the young man and says "Magnificent!" before slashing him open with a sword as big as a dude。 In my In my head, when the swordsman Roronoa Zolo (Zoro???) realizes he's been beaten by his opponent, who is the world's greatest swordsman, and he turns, arms outstretched to accept the killing blow, and he says "Wounds on the back are a swordsmans shame", and then his opponent, SWORDSMAN DRACULA (character name Hawkeye Mihawk which is a fucking COOL as HELL name) pauses for a moment in admiration at the young man and says "Magnificent!" before slashing him open with a sword as big as a dude。 In my head when that moment happens, the opening "YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH" from All I Want by The Offspring begins playing at max volume。 。。。more

What a great story。 Why does this have so calming or it never gets boring。 It's pirates, cooks and them screaming at each other at top of their voices。 Hitting each other with blows that would kill normal men, but still getting up and saying stuff that makes absurd sense。 I recommend everyone to read One Piece manga for sure。 And it doesn't matter if you start or just read this one volume only。 Just pick an arc, some of them are pretty good work of art too。 What a great story。 Why does this have so calming or it never gets boring。 It's pirates, cooks and them screaming at each other at top of their voices。 Hitting each other with blows that would kill normal men, but still getting up and saying stuff that makes absurd sense。 I recommend everyone to read One Piece manga for sure。 And it doesn't matter if you start or just read this one volume only。 Just pick an arc, some of them are pretty good work of art too。 。。。more

Although the series feels like it's targeted for an audience of kids, it doesn't bother me one bit and it's understandable considering how long ago it was written and that the audience switches to teens later on。 In compensation we get some deep character depth, growth, and backstory (not to mention sacrifice & cannibalism) and it teaches us some life lessons at times。 I really like it so far。 And although friendship power doesn't play a major role, Oda shows us how the characters develop and su Although the series feels like it's targeted for an audience of kids, it doesn't bother me one bit and it's understandable considering how long ago it was written and that the audience switches to teens later on。 In compensation we get some deep character depth, growth, and backstory (not to mention sacrifice & cannibalism) and it teaches us some life lessons at times。 I really like it so far。 And although friendship power doesn't play a major role, Oda shows us how the characters develop and surpass their limits for their friends in astonishing ways。 Awesome arc! 。。。more

Nigga Monkey D b fighting a pirate king that got owned by a swords pirate in the grand lane。 Then zolo got smashed by him in fight but the swords pirate spares him。 Then he leaves telling them to watchout and grow cause he was no bully。 Then luffy starts the fight with the pirate king that got owned。 Was not as lit as the prevous ones but lets see vol 7。 It was like the begginin of the story of the cook that luffy is trying to get for his crew。

Dang, the best one yet。 I love this ocean restaurant and rowdy band of sea cooks。 The work they did with Zolo in this volume is great, and I’m excited to see where this Nami business leads。

Secrets many of the sea cooks have been keeping come to the surface when Don Krieg pays a visit。 Luffy is working off his debts but the really shocker here is that Zolo runs into someone he’s only been dreaming of finding in the distant future。 With the crew’s hopes of reaching Grand Line at risk and the restaurant under attack, we see Luffy put to the test to try and continue to reach his goal of becoming king of the pirates。 This was a fun volume but nothing that really wowed me。 I’ve been rea Secrets many of the sea cooks have been keeping come to the surface when Don Krieg pays a visit。 Luffy is working off his debts but the really shocker here is that Zolo runs into someone he’s only been dreaming of finding in the distant future。 With the crew’s hopes of reaching Grand Line at risk and the restaurant under attack, we see Luffy put to the test to try and continue to reach his goal of becoming king of the pirates。 This was a fun volume but nothing that really wowed me。 I’ve been really hoping to love this series but I’m just not sure at this point。 I might give it a few more volumes and decide if I want to continue on。 。。。more
