Summary

The classic series, now available in a deluxe omnibus edition!

The manga adaptation of the landmark animated series that changed the mecha genre。 Each volume contains three of the original graphic novels and includes pages of stunning, full-color art。

Once Shinji didn’t care about anything; then he found people to fight for—only to learn that he couldn’t protect them, or keep those he let into his heart from going away。 As mankind tilts on the brink of the apocalyptic Third Impact, human feelings are fault lines leading to destruction and just maybe, redemption and rebirth。

A beautiful tragedy。 Once again, the stunning artwork mixed with a bittersweet story makes for an engaging story。 5 stars all the way

Who takes it's place?Shinji and Kaworu's character development here was a complete 180 from the show。 Kaworu had much more screen (page?) Time and his role within seele was MUCH BETTER explained here。 Gendo and ritsuko's intentions are verbalized。 We find out what happened to kensuke and the other kids。 The action was exquisite and I found myself SCREAMING at the page "wtf?。。 wtF?! 。。。WTF!?!?"A must read for fans of heavy science fiction and the matrix series。 FULL REVIEW TO COME ON MY YOUTUBE CHANNEL。 LINK IN BIO。 。。。more

Gripping storyThis book was even better。 So many plot twists。 This story included the movie, the ending of Evangelion and, air, death。 As I have said in other reviews about the manga。 The stories make more sense。🐾

It is a fascinating story。 Read the whole series during a two-and-a-half month road trip last summer。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I already don’t particularly care for the Evangelion manga, but this volume was the last straw。 Kaworu isn’t kind or nurturing to Shinji like he was in the anime at all—instead he’s like an abusive boyfriend who strangles a kitten, oversteps Shinji’s boundaries, and eventually passionately kisses him when Shinji was obviously not ready or wanting it。 I love Kaworu, in the anime。 But manga Kaworu is terrible。 I don’t know why Sadamoto included this change。 It honestly is very homophobic, and ruin I already don’t particularly care for the Evangelion manga, but this volume was the last straw。 Kaworu isn’t kind or nurturing to Shinji like he was in the anime at all—instead he’s like an abusive boyfriend who strangles a kitten, oversteps Shinji’s boundaries, and eventually passionately kisses him when Shinji was obviously not ready or wanting it。 I love Kaworu, in the anime。 But manga Kaworu is terrible。 I don’t know why Sadamoto included this change。 It honestly is very homophobic, and ruins what could’ve been an okay manga。 。。。more

There is phenomenal character development as the story enters its climax。 Each of them goes through extremely human struggles。 However, Kaworu Nagisa becomes a crucial foil in the story, forcing Shinji to confront his own struggles and ideas of the world around him。 A stunning read in what it means to be human and the consequences of attempting to recreate an ideal world。

In this volume, we finally learn the mystery of Rei's identity and the power struggle behind the scenes begins to heat up to the point of all-out war。 And in this war, there is no true victory。 The death of one character and the triumphic resurgence of another (view spoiler)[ You truly root for Asuka so much more during this volume, and her character is completely redeemed from being rather bratty in the earlier volumes。 (hide spoiler)] This is the point of no return, where shit truly begins to In this volume, we finally learn the mystery of Rei's identity and the power struggle behind the scenes begins to heat up to the point of all-out war。 And in this war, there is no true victory。 The death of one character and the triumphic resurgence of another (view spoiler)[ You truly root for Asuka so much more during this volume, and her character is completely redeemed from being rather bratty in the earlier volumes。 (hide spoiler)] This is the point of no return, where shit truly begins to hit the fan。 No turning back now。 。。。more

If you think you know Eva, think again。 Another great, fun and enjoyable instalment。 An amalgamation of new ideas, the anime, the movies and the director's cut episodes。 I can't even imagine where we're going to end up in the final volume。 If you think you know Eva, think again。 Another great, fun and enjoyable instalment。 An amalgamation of new ideas, the anime, the movies and the director's cut episodes。 I can't even imagine where we're going to end up in the final volume。 。。。more

i think i am not qualified to offer a critique of this work。 i am trying to follow, to learn, to appreciate, this anime/manga and others of this genre。 i cannot say it is bad, as i had no expectations, as i did read it all。 in learning, i thought of what i so liked in 'children of the sea' by iragashi, https://www。goodreads。com/book/show/6。。。, what is lost here。 maybe this is a house style, maybe it was done in a rush, maybe there are just not so many locales, actions, characters。。。 i try to rea i think i am not qualified to offer a critique of this work。 i am trying to follow, to learn, to appreciate, this anime/manga and others of this genre。 i cannot say it is bad, as i had no expectations, as i did read it all。 in learning, i thought of what i so liked in 'children of the sea' by iragashi, https://www。goodreads。com/book/show/6。。。, what is lost here。 maybe this is a house style, maybe it was done in a rush, maybe there are just not so many locales, actions, characters。。。 i try to read this after reading 'beautiful fighting girl' https://www。goodreads。com/book/show/1。。。, which recommended this as an example。 i start this in the middle, i try to read swiftly, i try to be aware of typical signs of anime。。。 but starting media res does not inspire me to read the beginning。 characters are extreme, shout, violently gesture, and there is a story here, though it seems muddled to me probably because i have not read before。 this 'changed the mecha' in japan, and might be considered a good work, but mostly made me think of what i find boring: urban, architectural, mechanical as in cars, guns, robots, explosions, gunfights, everyone looks same, everyone caught at dramatic moments, plot complications of soap opera sense。。。no, this is not a sensuous work, enveloping, tactile, not involving, emotionally sensitive, intellectually stimulating, what characters here are extremes, stereotypes, who function in the narrative by shouting to each other, to the mysterious 'third impact', and somehow, according to flashbacks, mother, father, daughter, son, are all involved。 as far as fighting girls, she is rendered rather too mature for being a 'girl'。。。。i try, here as in all manga read, to understand the appeal, to be able to say what i like and what not。 so i learn。 this is not a specific manga project: the model for this is the many stephen king read, then stopping reading beckett, then just not starting certain genre such as romance, harry potter, game of thrones。。。 though there are sometimes unexpected pleasures such as stefan zweig, or crime fiction by leighton gage or ross macdonald, so i am always open for new works, new subgenres, new authors。。。 。。。more

Vol。 10 - I love this series soooo much! Awesome science fiction! I could read this whole book in one sitting but I'm going to make myself read one volume a day to make it last 。。。 As we near the end of the series lots of revelations going on, pure adrenaline throughout。 The mystery of Rei is finally revealed。 She is probably my favourite manga character ever Only thing I didn't like was the small introduction of a bit of homo-eroticism in this volume as the series hasn't been anything like that Vol。 10 - I love this series soooo much! (4/5)Vol。 12 - Absolutely amazing! Asuka is back, kicking butt。 Shinji learns the truth but can he pull himself together to do what is right。 Best moment in the whole book is when Shinji gets a real kiss from an unexpected person。 Loved it! Death abounds though and there are some sad moments and what a cliffhanging ending! (5/5) 。。。more

Amazing manga!! the artwork is so good! but i think this manga is for adults not for kids :/

Kirsten

Amazing。 Just so good。 I am really enjoying the ways in which Sadamoto deviates from the plot of the anime, while still remaining absolutely true to the nature of Evangelion。 The artwork in the volumes contained herein is particularly gorgeous, and the final scenes with Asuka fighting the other Evas were AMAZING。

Kelly Spoer

Dude。 How can you not love this?
