Starts off great, but loses focus midway through the book。 I’m left not entirely sure what the intent was, aside from providing some great psychological research citations。

It’s great how the author tried to cheer introverts up and it makes me happy to hear that a lot of introverts started to think differently of themselves and their qualities after reading Quite, but honestly, I wouldn’t recommend this book unless you’re desperately trying to gain recognition as an introvert or have a lot of difficulties accepting who you are。 The author talks about “the” introverts and “the” extroverts as if there’s nothing in between。 Almost the whole argumentation is emotion-ba It’s great how the author tried to cheer introverts up and it makes me happy to hear that a lot of introverts started to think differently of themselves and their qualities after reading Quite, but honestly, I wouldn’t recommend this book unless you’re desperately trying to gain recognition as an introvert or have a lot of difficulties accepting who you are。 The author talks about “the” introverts and “the” extroverts as if there’s nothing in between。 Almost the whole argumentation is emotion-based rather than factual and makes use of some studies that haven’t been replicated nor explored in other contexts。 The conclusions are overreaching, lots of blubbering and annoying anecdotes。 I really wanted to like this book, but nah。 。。。more

I'd put this books on the shelf of self-discovery。 There was always this idea in family that I am highly sensitive person。 Because I'm loud, and boisterous many people would consider me stupid and extroverted。 Deep inside, I am very shy。 Recently, I started wondering how is it that I enjoy other people only up to the point, and then need to withdraw, usually much earlier than any other participants of the gathering。 This book brought it all home。 Now, that I know better who I am, and why, it mig I'd put this books on the shelf of self-discovery。 There was always this idea in family that I am highly sensitive person。 Because I'm loud, and boisterous many people would consider me stupid and extroverted。 Deep inside, I am very shy。 Recently, I started wondering how is it that I enjoy other people only up to the point, and then need to withdraw, usually much earlier than any other participants of the gathering。 This book brought it all home。 Now, that I know better who I am, and why, it might be easier to manage my experiences。 I would highly recommend this book to anybody。 It is interesting, and very beneficial in search for self-awareness。 。。。more

Very interesting and empowering for introverts。 I got lost in the weeds at the end。

This book shares some interesting anecdotes and really interesting research, but I found the argument reductive and even defensive。 It might align with some people's experiences, but I just couldn't relate and found myself impatient to get to a discussion about the complexity of introverts and extraverts in business/society at large。 This book shares some interesting anecdotes and really interesting research, but I found the argument reductive and even defensive。 It might align with some people's experiences, but I just couldn't relate and found myself impatient to get to a discussion about the complexity of introverts and extraverts in business/society at large。 。。。more

While this book may appear an attempt to over-glorify introversion to some, it holds water nonetheless。 This book felt less like a research analysis and more like a conversation and I really loved how it’s been written。 You don’t find people presenting hard scientific facts to you in such mild manners that facts become Friends - they stay with you longer and instead of them alarming you, you welcome them with alacrity。 Never a dull moment in this book, and it has been an eye opener for me in way While this book may appear an attempt to over-glorify introversion to some, it holds water nonetheless。 This book felt less like a research analysis and more like a conversation and I really loved how it’s been written。 You don’t find people presenting hard scientific facts to you in such mild manners that facts become Friends - they stay with you longer and instead of them alarming you, you welcome them with alacrity。 Never a dull moment in this book, and it has been an eye opener for me in ways more than one。 I was always confused about certain aspects of my personality。 And this book cleared it up by a mile。 Not only do I now know how to regulate my thoughts and emotions better, I know how to behave when my very introverted girlfriend displays her personality。 I suppose she brings out the best in me and I know why。 She accepts my situational extrovertedness and appreciates when I demand space as well。 This book basically put a lot of things into perspective。 And I’m glad I got around it。 。。。more

I had really high expectations from this book mainly because of the topic and partly because of Susan's Ted talk。 But my expectations weren't met for the following-1。 Too much of the book is just about how which research was done。 It might be a plus for someone reading it academically or that sort of a reason。 For me it was a little tiring。2。 The book shows a way for introverts to somehow cope or put up a subpar performance in the extroverted world without letting go of their introversion comple I had really high expectations from this book mainly because of the topic and partly because of Susan's Ted talk。 But my expectations weren't met for the following-1。 Too much of the book is just about how which research was done。 It might be a plus for someone reading it academically or that sort of a reason。 For me it was a little tiring。2。 The book shows a way for introverts to somehow cope or put up a subpar performance in the extroverted world without letting go of their introversion completely。 It show how to sometimes fake extroversion。 What it lacked was how to build on the powers on introversion and that's unfortunately what I was most looking forward to。 3。 The structure of the book and the way it is written is definitely not the best。 The book does take a very comprehensive approach to introversion exploring related traits like openness to new experiences, conscientiousness, etc。 from the Big Five Model。 Theoretically it seemed pretty sound to me。 the examples brought forth in the chapters of the extrovert ideal were also great。 But it's the final approach Susan takes to show introverts a way to adapt to the extroverted world that disappointed me。 I wish a way was shown on how to use the introverted side of a person even more。 。 。。。more

A thoughtful counterpoint to the Extrovert Ideal。 The examples/case studies become repetitive after the first few chapters。 (And Emily should divorce Greg - 52 dinner parties a year is intolerable cruelty)

Cain's TED Talk has been one of my favorites for years, and I'm glad I finlly took the time to read the entire book。 There's so much useful information for and about introverts here。 I enjoyed reading about the various studies and examples used to illustrate how introverts interact with the world, what sets them apart, and how to support them。 Cain's TED Talk has been one of my favorites for years, and I'm glad I finlly took the time to read the entire book。 There's so much useful information for and about introverts here。 I enjoyed reading about the various studies and examples used to illustrate how introverts interact with the world, what sets them apart, and how to support them。 。。。more

Está bien un par de tips sobre crianza y para no creer que pasar tiempo solo es reprochable。 Útil para valorar la diferencia de caracteres y aceptar a los demás sin demandar de ellos algo que no son。

The author highlights how the brain chemistry of introverts and extroverts differ, how society misunderstands and undervalues introverts。 She provides the introverts the tools to understand themselves and leverage their strengths to the fullest。

It's a really good book, both for introverts and extroverts。 The introverts can get a better sense of their reactions to different real life situations, understanding how normal they are and re-finding their self-confidence, and the extroverts can get a sense of what it's like to be an introvert, they can better understand them and realize not everyone has to reach the "American standard", the popular guy that doesn't stop talking。We are all different and we all have our own strengths and defect It's a really good book, both for introverts and extroverts。 The introverts can get a better sense of their reactions to different real life situations, understanding how normal they are and re-finding their self-confidence, and the extroverts can get a sense of what it's like to be an introvert, they can better understand them and realize not everyone has to reach the "American standard", the popular guy that doesn't stop talking。We are all different and we all have our own strengths and defects, we shouldn't feel weird simply because we are different。 After all, that's the beauty of life, to be different。 。。。more

I finally finished this audiobook, after what felt like years of listening to it。 Initially, I was excited to read this as an introvert, hoping to learn something new but I was disappointed。 The book was full of anecdotes after anecdotes after another anecdote to the point of exhaustion。 There’s very little science。I’m not sure if it’s the narrator’s fault or the book is just a snooze fest。 To anyone who’s planning to listen to this book in Audible, spare yourself from the whispery storybook-lik I finally finished this audiobook, after what felt like years of listening to it。 Initially, I was excited to read this as an introvert, hoping to learn something new but I was disappointed。 The book was full of anecdotes after anecdotes after another anecdote to the point of exhaustion。 There’s very little science。I’m not sure if it’s the narrator’s fault or the book is just a snooze fest。 To anyone who’s planning to listen to this book in Audible, spare yourself from the whispery storybook-like narration。 It was so annoying。 The book itself, I felt like it had nothing new to offer。 It’s basically just a book talking about how awesome introverts are。 That’s the TLDR。 。。。more

I related to so much of this, and seeing things in writing that I've been thinking for my entire life but have never heard someone else voice was incredible。 However, I hit like 200 pages and couldn't read it anymore。 It felt too concentrated on business at that point and I didn't really think much else that she could say after the 200 page mark would be that different from what she'd already said。 So I'm glad I read most of it but could've been shorter I think。 And there were other parts I wasn I related to so much of this, and seeing things in writing that I've been thinking for my entire life but have never heard someone else voice was incredible。 However, I hit like 200 pages and couldn't read it anymore。 It felt too concentrated on business at that point and I didn't really think much else that she could say after the 200 page mark would be that different from what she'd already said。 So I'm glad I read most of it but could've been shorter I think。 And there were other parts I wasn't cray about。 。。。more

Quiet is a book explaining how introverts are undervalued based on personality characteristics and social expectations。 Cain demonstrates the unique ways introverts can be extroverts, the difference in children, and how introverts are achieving and leading the world。 I am an introvert, so I identified myself a lot in this book and Cain’s research。 -Reviewed by Susana

Fascinating read。 A bit of a slog to get through for me。

Tom

Interesting, informative, and even important, if somewhat chatty in tone。 Recommended for introverts or extroverts with introverts in their lives。

Gemma Buckley

A literal must read if you are an introvert, know and love an introvert, manage an introvert or otherwise want to be a more thoughtful person in how you interact with people around you。

Sneha

There is some good stuff and motivation for introverts。 But most of the book is a drag。 A lot of repetitive things。 It would be better if it were a shorter book。

Dinesh Balachandran

Breaks down stereotypes and shows how introverts or quiet inward people have made it big in the world of the loud and brash。 Was surprised to see how many characteristics I share with both sides of the fence。

Interesting research, well presented, thought provoking and insightful。 The author and I have differing world-views but I respect the information and gleaned from it。

A highly illuminating and quick read。 A tight narrative that uses science to justify her points, but doesn't overdo it, at least for readers like me。 Although I read this as I'm an introvert, I feel that extroverts would really benefit reading this one。 4。5/5 A highly illuminating and quick read。 A tight narrative that uses science to justify her points, but doesn't overdo it, at least for readers like me。 Although I read this as I'm an introvert, I feel that extroverts would really benefit reading this one。 4。5/5 。。。more

Myself being an introvert, this book helped me to understand a lot of my own behaviors。 Author beautifully describes strengths of introverts and how they can flourish under right environment。 If you are an introvert you will love reading this book。 However, I will also strongly recommend extroverts to read this book as it will help you to understand introverts better and develop better collaboration with them。

Susan Cain clearly explains introvert is not about only quietness。 Is introvert ideal real? Is introvert and extrovert are a choice? This book explains all about introverts that lead to better society!
