Summary

The last days of summer creep toward a violent climax。。。

Seiichi's family begins to fall apart in the wake of his cousin's "accident," but nothing compares to the mental and emotional torture he undergoes as he tries to maintain some sense of self in the face of his mother's manipulations。 Torn by his love for her, Seiichi is pushed to the breaking point and finds himself unable to speak, both literally and figuratively。

The tension continues to build in Shuzo Oshimi's masterwork of understated psychological horror, as Seiichi falls further and further into the abyss of his mother's unraveling psyche。

I don't think I've burned right through a manga quicker than this one! What might have helped the fact was that it was mostly visual。 Very disturbing drama being told about a boy who witnesses his mother do something unspeakable and the trauma he deals with。 I don't think I've burned right through a manga quicker than this one! started crying mid-through this volume and I cannot calm down

Definitely twisted in all the right ways。 The books takes a bit of an incestual twist in these volumes, and it is wonderfully uncomfortable。It seems each volume reveals some new issues with the mother。 The boy’s character arc is mostly dry。 The mom is the only character that seems to matter。

[review for vols 1-4]This is now my third series by Oshimi and he still manages to creep the hell out of me with something as simple as a smile。 His pacing and skill at creating mood are unsurpassed。 He is a master of psychological horror。 I keep thinking things are going in a certain direction and he either prolongs (interminably) the tension or switches direction suddenly so that you never feel like you have your footing。 What I love so far about the series is how sympathetic the mother remain [review for vols 1-4]This is now my third series by Oshimi and he still manages to creep the hell out of me with something as simple as a smile。 His pacing and skill at creating mood are unsurpassed。 He is a master of psychological horror。 I keep thinking things are going in a certain direction and he either prolongs (interminably) the tension or switches direction suddenly so that you never feel like you have your footing。 What I love so far about the series is how sympathetic the mother remains despite being the source of the horror in the series。 Mental illness is serious and affects families profoundly。 I'd say I'm looking forward to where the series is headed but I'm not。。。in the best way possible。 。。。more

This is by far the creepiest instalment of 血の轍。 This manga series is so disturbing but I have been enjoying it since book 1! I'm not sure why but I love this volume the most。 The art is gorgeous and cinematic。 Shuzo Oshimi is so talented。 I want more!! THE TWISTS! THE TURNS! As Seiko appears to destabilise, so does Seiichi, who becomes unable to speak。 And when he finally confronts his mother, she shows a new face。。。Every time I think I know where the story is going, I’m surprised。

3* This had a lot to like such as more depth to Seiko’s psychosis and that ending WOOOO! But Seiichi’s stuttering for literal PAGES was enough for me to want to sling the book against the wall。

THIS IS SO UNCOMFORTABLE

3。75Seiichi is showing PTSD by stuttering and his mommy is getting creepier and creepier。 It really doesn't help the creep factor as she talks to absolutely no one and wants Seiichi to kill her。 I am really loving the tense, horror feeling this manga is giving in the panels alone。 How is Seiichi gonna survive his mommy? 3。75Seiichi is showing PTSD by stuttering and his mommy is getting creepier and creepier。 It really doesn't help the creep factor as she talks to absolutely no one and wants Seiichi to kill her。 I am really loving the tense, horror feeling this manga is giving in the panels alone。 How is Seiichi gonna survive his mommy? 。。。more

Utterly gut-wrenching。 Blood on the Tracks gets under your skin and makes it crawl。 After reading just three volumes, this already ranks as the best ongoing series for me。 Oshimi has perfected the art sequential storytelling imo。 His pacing is just immaculate and he uses extreme close-ups, POV shots, light and shadow, and characters that stare straight at you from the page to totally immerse you in each scene。 There's actually very little dialogue。 I love how Oshimi emphasizes the facial express Utterly gut-wrenching。 Blood on the Tracks gets under your skin and makes it crawl。 After reading just three volumes, this already ranks as the best ongoing series for me。 Oshimi has perfected the art sequential storytelling imo。 His pacing is just immaculate and he uses extreme close-ups, POV shots, light and shadow, and characters that stare straight at you from the page to totally immerse you in each scene。 There's actually very little dialogue。 I love how Oshimi emphasizes the facial expressions and body language of his characters。 I think I forgot to exhale reading this, it's that gripping。 。。。more

Fast read and amazing art。 Read it all in one sitting and it took me around 30 mins。 Hard to tell which way this story is going to go。

This is probably some of the most uncomfortable manga I've ever read, but in a good way。 Our main character, Seiichi Osabe, is having a tough time even talking now。 He stutters like mad, and when he does talk, he usually says opposite of what he wants to say。 Especially around his mother Seiko。 But when his father takes him to the hospital he finally breaks when he sees the condition of his cousin。 The ending heats up as Seiko demands to know what Seiichi is doing but what happens when he can't This is probably some of the most uncomfortable manga I've ever read, but in a good way。 Our main character, Seiichi Osabe, is having a tough time even talking now。 He stutters like mad, and when he does talk, he usually says opposite of what he wants to say。 Especially around his mother Seiko。 But when his father takes him to the hospital he finally breaks when he sees the condition of his cousin。 The ending heats up as Seiko demands to know what Seiichi is doing but what happens when he can't stand it anymore? This is another great volume。 While not as weird as the last the tension racks up BIG time at the end and it seems like mama isn't playing anymore。 My only downside to this all is how fast I read them and have to wait。 But Oshimi got some good shit here。 A 4 out of 5。 。。。more
